Look at the face of those vagabond people, almost all of them r Hindu had to flee from their mother land. And most of them had to die just bcz they were Hindu.and what a crap history has been written there is no Hindu national martyr from liberation war when two third of people died in war were hindu.we r the Hindu indigenous people of Bangladesh and everything in Bangladesh air, mountain , sky, river, cannel, ocean witness of ancient hindusm.we will take over our country from those Islamic pigs
those images r so sad it hard to see there less fortunate and here in america not many ppl know how lucky we r if i evr make big in music im goin to host a concert 4 the world and have big great musician real musician who know how to play music not like some of this crap we here 2day i hope 2 become a big musician it not bout the money r the fame its bout the music in this concert u can see tht
Thats the whole reason for the Concert for Bangladesh... Raising money for Bangladesh so they wouldnt be starving. Thats where the soul of this melody comes from.
I hope bangladesh remains as it is, beautiful people...my dad is from bangladesh, i'm from calcutta..the music reflects the rural landscape and simplicity of bengal.....his subcounscious was affected by the landscape, which shows in the music....nature and man connected through music....what beuaty only in east asia do u find such beauty.
I had forgotten that Ali Akbar Khan did this duet with Shankar. What a wonderful concert that was. I saw the movie of it at uni when I was about 18. That concert started my love of Indian classical music. I knew nothing then but it's great to listen to it now and know what they are doing. Thanks for sharing that with us.
May Goddess Saraswati's grace in form of sweet music shower on Bangladesh in order to destroy all forms of extremism that has roots in poverty and religion..
May all non-muslim refugees to India including Ravi return to their golden home land.
What the hell u r talkin' bout? the reason Ravi Shankar left Bangladesh is the partition of India! And if u blame poverty or religion for that, it goes with all countries of Indian subcontinent!!
Anyway, thanx 4 u prayer...May Goddess Saraswati's grace in form of sweet music shower on Bangladesh !!
yo sepod...if u new anything about Mozart or Beethoven, you would know that both frequently performed as well as composed, also one cannot compose if one does not understand the language on music, and one who understands and is able to communicate sed language is a musician....
anybody have the intro part to this too... theirs a part where he is tuning the sitar and stops and everyone starts cheering... than hes like 'if you like the tuning of the sitar... i hope that you will like the playing more!'
I love that part too, I don't think those people in the audience had any idea what they were in for when they started clapping to the tuning. My mother saw him live once and said his fingers were bleeding after the show from how intensely he played.
please watch pather panchali , the immortal film by satyajit ray, the lifetime acheivement oscar winner- and you will know what i just said is true-ravi shankar composed the score for it and it is very close in essence
this is bangladesh for me, now 12000 miles away from the country i knew as home - this music is the landscape, sun, wind, air, and rain of my home-
ravi shankar is a bengali and i am sure he must have felt the the essence of the land, water and the people, their lives and expressed it all in one phenomenal soundscape, this music, bangla dhun is almost who and what i am.
the sitarist obviously is ravi shankar :P, but the other man on tabla (percussion) is Alla Rakha. The other man on the sarod (plucked string instrument), if i am not mistaken, is Ali Akbar Khan, son of Ravi Shankar's Guru...
thanks to Ravi and the group to represent Bangladesh with their musical interpretation. I am sure most of the Bangladeshies will agree with me that the music notes they were playing sounds very Bangladeshi...authentic Bangladeshi...its truly the heart.
Go buy the George Harrison "Concert for Bangledesh" you get som bob Dylan, Some ravi Shankar, Billy Preston and many more...... Excellant Musical settup!

To one of the most beautiful lands on the earth-this is a tribute. Both the musicians are originally from that land. Shame to human greed and selfishness that this wonderful land has been subjected to and which has reduced this land to hell. Wish we could learn that nothing brutish can last only the good and the pure and the divine and the loving last.
