Me and my wife(girl friend at the time) saw him in a concert in 1987. He was almost 75 and still sounded as he did 50 years prior to that. In real life, he was a very nice natured man. Never refused an autograph. Loved all people. A real family man. Married to his high school sweetheart, Roselle, till she died. Soon after her, he passed away too. May God Bless his soul.

On America Idol and Britain's Got Talent, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, Kris Kristoferson, and a giant like Frankie Sinatra. to mention just a few, would not have had much of a chance. Figure it. For people like Simon and Pierce, people without any discernible talents, these aforementioned entertainers were not loud enough. TODAY,  genius is gauged by the intensity of sound and not by emotions or interpretations. Let's just be glad we had Perry and the others for a little while.
