  • I need this as my bgm for my personal project; an WW2-base interactive comic. thanks for sharing! now I have an idea what it should sound like XD

  • Why 24 idiots can´t feel this jewel?? it´s pure magic, for me is very nostalgic and one of the most beautiful big band songs, i can´t understand what happends in this world, the music is not only the stupid "CACATON" and Justin Bieber, ...

  • This piece of music is responsible for me being here today. It was my parents first dance, in the late 50s. I grown up listening to Glenn Miller's records. I'm grateful to him for my existence. :)

  • beautiful musique

  • The American Dream :)

  • i love his fast swing stuff sing sing sing man thats good music

  • The music of "The greatest generation" will never be equaled for its melody and purity.

  • TOTALLY MELLOW.

  • They be jammin

  • Number one on my list of romantic songs... and it doesn't require someone singing the word 'love' once.

  • They don't make 'timeless' music like this anymore do they? I am in my 50's and I cannot imagine ever tiring of hearing this kind of quality music. I am a lover of the big band era music. Miller, Dorsey, and others were and are in a class all by themselves. Could we have them back please?

  • this is such a beautiful, relaxing, and romantic song. thanks for the upload!

  • I would love to dance to Glen Miller with my lady, this is so smoooooth and so romantic.

  • My wife and i feel we were both born at the wrong time. i am still a disco/pop fan and she is heavy metal. the thing we have in common is that we both love the swing ERA. BTW we are both in our 50's.

  • Along with Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again this was one of definitive pieces of music from the 1940's. A beautiful orchestration of a popular song of the period. Glenn Miller's name will always be associated with WW2 and the lovely sounds he produced to cheer a war-weary generation. Great stuff

  • very nice relaxing song thanks for uploading

  • i love this songs, for me glenn miller is the first !!!!!!

  • BRAVISSIMO!

  • So smooth.

  • Smooth as Butter. Nothing is as better.

  • my favorite

  • This is so soothing

When i hear it reminds me of Doctor Who:The Empty Child:Part 1 when Jack Harkness and Rose Tyler are standing on top a of warship listening to this

  • This is the greatest "slow dancing" music ever written.

  • HOJE,

  • im 14 and i like all music except pop when im older i will open up a bar or a restaruant and have a jazz band play

  • @Potatoerapper

I would definitely go to THAT CLUB there if that ever existed! Sounds like a club that has CLASS

  • @Potatoerapper same here, Switzerland has a great lack of jazz bars where you can have a glass of whisky and enjoy timeless classics like this one.

  • @Potatoerapper KEEP THAT GOAL until you can!

  • @Potatoerapper Keep pursuing those dreams, Kid. Your "bar" may very well become a novelty that people may flock from around the country of not the WORLD to see! Just think of your non drinking patrons and sell good food too! :3

  • @Potatoerapper u like techno and disco ? XP

  • @MrSnipez2000 yah

  • @Potatoerapper Nice - Send me the address and we'll come down for espresso and jazz!

  • @Potatoerapper I think there are worse rhythms like reggaeton and hip hop.

  • 遠いむかしですが、少年のころ夢中で聴いていました。

    基地の街・福生市に引越ししてきた理由が、この曲でした。

  • Bucket List Item: find a live band like this in a ball room playing this song and dance with someone special. I can't think of anything more romantic. First, I have to learn to dance better.

  • Do you have the rest of this special on video? I am searching frantically for the performance of In the Mood they did the same night as this recording of Moonlight Serenade. It had the whole trumpet section in soli instead of one player doing the Hackett solo. I would be grateful if you could upload it.

  • @TheGoldie16

I do not have the rest of the segments that you wanted, I am sorry.

  • HOJE!

    é essa a música!

    tô precisando..muito!

    carlota joaquina

  • @TheGoldie16 Billy May played the trumpet solo on the original "In the Mood".

  • In Indianapolis, Indiana, there is the Indiana Roof Ballroom that still has big band dances about once a month. People with various skill levels come to dance for a few hours and have a wonderful time. This was the place that during WW II our soldiers would stop and dance the night away to all the great bands of that era. Their names are listed on a special door on one side of the stage. It is something wonderful to hold a woman in yours arms and enjoy dancing with each other to great music.

  • Is it humanly possible NOT to bond to the perosn your are holding while this beautiful son is playing? FDew compositions actually reach into the soul of people and grasp onto that universal need to have a person [screw gender - lets grow up] as part of theirife, their being///Glenn Millersmusic delves deep into the essence of manking and for that he should be reverred and applauded.

  • My father-in-law went around the world playing for the guys. This makes me think of him. He was my friend.

  • wooooh it makes me shiver, it captures the late 1930's and early 1940's and the peak/climax of the great depression..it makes me imagine of my grandma and my grandpa during there prime years

  • to me it captures the late 1930's and early 1940's..it makes me imagine of my grandma and grandpa prime in there prime years.

  • i am aslo a big big fan of led zep and steely dan but l have to say these songs or magical and so moving ,timeless

  • As the biggest Led Zep fan ever- this is the most beautiful song ever written

  • @83shovel Great comment! Another mood will find my wife & me listening to Zep, Rush or Aimee Mann or Blackmore's Night. We can appreciate good music from almost any era, as can you, obviously. Rock on!

  • Doctor who =)

  • and what about Benny Goodman, Ray Anthony, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey and all those great ones

  • How strange I have had the same experience as allenjan - my parents and uncle and aunt all great dancers, loved to dance to this tune. The last one left, my uncle, died on tuesday last 7 December and I am using this great dance song as part of the funeral music. I hope they are all up there dancing together again.

  • Im doing Glenn Miller for my LA project. 0_0

  • What an elegance....

  • the original is better

  • Music has gone downhill since the days when jazz was "popular" music... a lot.

  • A classic!

  • Lovely beat, great orchestra.

  • pure ART there`s no other word to discribe this song

  • In 1962 our Jr./Sr. Prom theme was Moonlight Sernade. I was Jr. Class President and we had to host the Prom. We were fortunate to have the Glen Miller Band play at the prom. We lived in a small town and couldn't afford much but they took the gig anyway: they were passing through our town anyway. Of course Mr. Miller had long been gone but his music still lived on (and it still does). The Glen Miller band has been, and always will be, my favorite Big Band. They don't make music like this anymore.

  • Awesome!!.

Mauricio

  • this song reminds me of my grandad a lot. it was one of his favourite songs. i can hear him playing it now on his organ with his big band. thankyou for introducing me to such wonderful music, i'll never stop listening to it. R.I.P grandad, i love you.

  • i danced to his music Live @ the PEIR BALLROOM @ buckeye LAKE ohio and he was fabulous this was in the 50;s DA

  • My dad died in 2004 at the age of 83 and loved this song. He was a world war two vet and loved this country so much. As I get older it makes me realize more each day how proud I am of my father and all those who lived in that era and are now gone... it's really sad because they are almost all gone now. If you see a WW II vet (or even your grandfather who may not have been in the service), give him a hug and thank him. Life is short, and then all we have are memories like this song to make us cry

  • @jprice561 salute

  • @jprice561 i wanted to honor him ur right they are few

  • @jprice561 the best we can do is remember how they suffered to save the world

  • band of brothers is excellent to see what they went thru

  • @jprice561

Nice comment... I'll tell ya a little story about my grandpa.

I'm german, my grandfather died 4 days ago, 28th March. He was 86 years old and was also involved in WW2. Back then he almost was ordered to Stalingrad what would've been his certain death. But fortanetly they needed a car mechanic (that was my grandpa's passion and job of course) for repairing tanks so he was send to Italy, where some american soldiers where been captured. The lieutenant had to go temporarily to ...

  • @jprice561

..another area and gave the comand shortly to my grandpa because he liked him. He said to him "whatever you do, don't give them food let em suffer". But when he was away he ordered a truck with food and gave em something to eat. The commander of the captured allied troops noted his name and said "When we've won that war. I'll come to your home to return the favor:"..

so he came and asked him afterall if he want to come along to his home in texas. But ma grandpa declined with thanks..

  • @jprice561

... and said "no I belong to my home in germany. the only wish I have is fuel for free for my moped" ;)

and he got it (fortunately he lived in the American occupation zone which was very very comfortable for the german citizens)

That's just a little part of all his experiences in that time.

Next Monday is his funeral and I chose this song for it because he loved miller's music so much.

It's gonna be tough not to cry. Such a sadness...

  • @Kornhulio18 I just read what u wrote,my mother died 29 march she was 79,and I appreciate ur grandfathers wisdom in time of war to know what is truly the right thing to do

  • que bellos recuerdos de mi infancia lalralrallll

  • best music ever!

  • Do they stil hve dancing at the Manhattan Center Ballroom? I wish I was out on that floor right now with a beautiful gal. Also, PBS cut some numbers out of this when it was aired. Could someone please upload those edited clips from that special?

    -People Like You and Me

  • Ooooohhhhh I was born in the wrong era! *slow dances around the living room* so beautiful. I feel like a real lady when I listen to this song

  • this is music. true music, im only 14 and i love this. i play 2 instruments, trumpet and trombone im very involved in sports and ladies. so that proves you dont have to be a band nerd or a oldy to like this, people need to teach that to others. this is so calming and loving that it makes you think of good times, and not drugs like some music

  • WONDERFUL..WONDERFUL...WONDERFUL..

  • This reminds of the days in the 50/60s when I used to go dancing @ the Memorial Hall in Newbridge S/Wales, the bands name was Terry Allens dance band and in the interval a group by the name of Tommy Scot & the senators used to play for about 20 mins, people will know the person Tommy scot better know as TOM JONES. Can any one else remember those days

  • @troyjan1940 I danced to this at the Aragon Ballroom and Trianon Ballroom in Chicago. What wonderful memories.

  • How amazing! This is totally classic music. Sorry modern pop stars, Glenn will always be better!

  • wuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaoooooooooooo seto es entrar al cielo

  • Too bad his plane went down over the English Channel during WW2

  • WONDERFUL!

  • Man muß nur lauschen und träumen..

  • You got to put yourself back in time a little. This music is very relaxing but if you had been in the middle of a world war you might need some heavy duty relaxation too.

  • The band sounds beautiful and I have always loved this tune. My only complaint is the phrasing by the reeds on the melody. It should be two sixteenth notes, not a quarter note triplet. At least that was the way Miller's band played it back in the day. Still a beautiful tune and performance.

  • Class pure Class

  • This is actually a great version. I am still practising this song on the piano, I would like to be able to put this feeling into it. Thank you for a wonderful upload.

  • 19 people have noooooooooooo idea................

    epic, thx for upload.....

  • All I can think of is Dr Who 'The doctor dances' :-P. Such beautiful music and it's videos like these that keep the genre alive. Glenn Miller was a genius, as were so many jazz musicians of his generation.

  • Going to see them THIS saturday - I can't wait - we've had tickets for months

  • What a song. Song for lovers

  • FROM THE WWII STILL GREAT.GREAT MUSIC FOR ALL TIME.NICE ON THE EAR,SO RESTFUL,WONDERFUL

  • Um sonho !!!!

  • I grew up blind to this music, and now that I've discovered it, I'm majoring in Jazz Studies for graduate school. Thank the Lord this music exists!

  • love it

  • You know, I just lost my last living uncle a couple years ago in Riverside, he and my Aunt were married for over 50 years, he and my father were very close and all of them are gone now. I listened to shi song after his funeral and I could see all 4 of them dancing to this song in one of those big ballrooms from the 40's. What beautiful horn work in this song. Ageless & timeless too.

  • @allenjan36 your uncle must have been quite the incest faggot if he was dancing with your daddy...

  • @allenjan36 Imagine living back then? So much simpler. No hoochie dancing women and thugs. Man, oh, man, I would love to spend a week or two back then. I'm only 42. Born in '68. I have no idea what it was really like.

  • @allenjan36 One of the nicest tunes ever written. From my father and mothers' "going-steady" time, also.

  • @allenjan36 a very great song. A lot of our family recognize this.
