  • Can't you do the exact same thing with a command dash, and get the extra meter along with controlling where you jump from?

  • @ThisLockIsJammed Basically yes, and a lot of us do use that often. This just requires a little less execution and offers a different/confusing element to it. I've come to expect when I hear Ibuki do that CD that a jumping kunai is next.

  • Umm, After the throw down and cr.MK slide are you doing a SJC into kunai?

  • @DivineForcesBro Nope, regular jumps.

  • my main problem is input. any tips?

on a Arcade stick if that helps

  • @samifish182 Not much other than practice it in training mode a bunch and start mixing it into your lesser, non-serious casual games until it becomes second nature.

  • mrflorida2010 add me on ps3 pls

  • When can you combo after kunai? Do you have to super jump, hit low etc...?

  • @introsis You can combo after any kunai that you're close enough to link together. It doesn't need to be a super jump or a low hit on their body necessarily, you just have to be within range for whatever combo you plan to use. The timing can be a bit tricky but an hour in the training room practicing should get you there.

Then it's just in-game practice. Soon it'll be second nature.

  • This is some badass shit dude. I started using her again recently and this is definitely some tricky stuff that makes me love this character.

  • The problem I have with this is when I have full super meter, it does super :(

Any tips on how to avoid that?

    Cheers.

  • @KellyNUTS Not much I can offer unfortunately. I have that same issue with Ibuki where I'll accidentally get the super when I have full meter and try fast kunais. I blame SF4's easy/forgiving inputs for that. That said, you shouldn't use this too often anyway so the situation where you have super and try the Sazan trick probably wont come up too often.

  • Omg, never seen this shit with Ibuki before! +1

  • CC liked this man. haha congrats

  • @Jrim615 Oh, so this actually showed up in their Recent Activity? Excellent!

  • @morydees34 yea man im guessn gootecks is trying to learn ibuki cause they iked alot of ibuki stuff.

  • Looks like Gootecks is really set on learning Ibuki!!!

  • @FlyThruDAir No shit? I haven't been following their channel lately but has he started to use her?

  • @morydees34 He's been liking a lot of Ibuki videos so it looks like he either is starting to play her or maining her in 2012.

  • @morydees34 He said something along the lines of picking her up again in the last CrossCounter Live. I think he had dabbled in Ibuki play in one of the old Excellent Adventures, the one where they have Marn, Justin Wong, and Gamerbee over.

  • This video is so god like especially that ultra set up

  • will this work in AE? the slide distance change might affect it

  • @rc1260 Yes it does.

  • like the idea, pretty sneaky. good shit. i see some great mix up game with this if unpredicted

  • Perhaps not relevant to what you want to showcase with this video, but is it just muscle memory or are there any visual cues/tricks to timing the s.lp after lk.tsumuji.

If i hit the s.lp i get the full combo easily, however i can only get the s.lp to connect 1 out of 10 tries.

As far as this video goes, very much appreciated, will definately practice this setup.

  • @AeolusMN It's purely repetition and muscle memory for me. Considering it's a 1 frame link, it can sometimes be even more difficult to hit online with lag and such.

  • great vid tyvm for this :D! its been working awesome for me lately really awesome and intuative video ^^ thumbs up from me subscribed for if you make more :) ..

  • You know you can U2 off of Kunai if it hits them on the foot?

  • @RawrMeCookie You mean linking a risky Ultra off a one-hit (essentially non hit-confirm) move? No thanks!

  • @morydees34 If you practice you can get it 90% of the time.. I get it about 70% >_>

  • @RawrMeCookie I'm not talking about getting it to link, I'm talking about having no time to hit-confirm the kunai. You have to essentially guess and hope they don't block the right direction otherwise they block your Ultra and get a free punish. Unlike say the Super Jump Cancel Ultra which you can have as many as 3-4 hits land first, allowing you ample time for the hit-confirm.

Again, I'm sure it works it's just highly risky.

  • @morydees34 Well from the moment they block the kunai or it hits there's enough time to know whether to input it or not.

  • @RawrMeCookie Maybe I'm not following what you're saying but if you're talking about LINKING an Ultra immediately after a kunai hit and having it connect, you only have a few frames (fraction of a second) to make that decision of hit or block because there's only one move (a single kunai).

If you're able to reliably do that without a full block string (2-5 hits) of confirmation, you buffer the inputs properly AND can pull back within 1/30th of a second in case they block..well, you're godlike.

  • @morydees34

completely agree with you. no way am i risking that.

  • This is sick

  • is this possible in third strike in any way

  • You seem to be good with Ibuki. You will train me, I pay you 15 cents.

  • how do i do the kunai cross over? i can hit the opponent but they are able to block straight away when i land.

  • @Adonmasters: It takes practice in timing and there's a lot more to it than I can type out in a youtube response. This is an advanced tactics video, for people that already have the basic vortex down. You might want to search Shoryuken SF4 forums for basic vortex tips and/or google. Good luck.

  • @morydees34 Can You Do This In The 3d Edition?

  • @gcpm11num1fan 3D as in the handheld one? I'm not sure at all. Still works in AE though.

  • @morydees34 Ok I Wanna try This But I'll Fail

  • I like this vid although I find it too risky to do against shotos for abvious reasons. You get some extra frame advantage from the orignal vortex, but I think that Im using this version against a lot of the none srk characters like Abel cuz you can grab him as a mix-up. This version reminds me of Vipers b kick mix up but more rewarding. I wouldnt recommend wiffing the kunai cuz it leaves you wide-open for a while.

  • @blackman6270 All perfectly accurate observations! I need to try it out some more in Arcade Edition now that her landing spot is a bit different and the timing is changed.

  • @morydees34 When you try AE will you put up another vid showing the changes? Anyway, great vid, we need more people going into training room and finding out new stuff. Good job

Btw: You can fake the normal vortex by empty jumping and then grab (or cr. grab->combo) or doing overhead as bait. It makes the vortex even more confusing. I think U1 is more of a reversal and OS than a bait move, so it works against rog, adon, abel, dudley, sakura, dictator imo. What do you think?

  • @blackman6270 Interesting idea for baiting the vortex, I'll have to try it. As for Ultra 1, that's about all I use it for these days (reversal/OS), especially on jab mashers after I do the overhead kick. This tactic from my old video is rarely used by me. In fact, I've done it maybe twice ever in a real match.

As for AE changes, I may put some new stuff up when it comes out as long as I haven't been beaten to the punch yet. Thanks for watching!

  • Nice stuff

  • That non-crossup kunai after the medium kick slide is one of the lowest kunai's i've ever seen. nice. Can wake-up EX moves like counter this?

  • @beaker4251 Unfortunately fast startup EX moves can counter that one, like a Shoryuken and possibly even Balrog's EX Headbutt. I haven't had a chance to do thorough testing on it though.

  • cool change of pace.. not sure about the late kunai into ultra tho, seems like youll get thrown or dp everytime since they recover a lot earlier.. have you tried that in some matches?

  • @xsickzackx Yeah, I've tried it a few times in matches and half the time I was dp'd out of it as you said. That's definitely more of a sneaky, prayer setup than anything else. Not advised for serious use. In fact, if I wanted to do a risky Ultra, I'd rather do it from a blocked crossup kunai than late whiff because at least they're in block stun and often times option select throw/jab mashing on the way out for an easy grab.

  • Hey, thanks for uploading this man. I lol'd on the sneaky ultra 1 part. So, when you start up the vortex off a Neckbreaker do you use LP Kunai or MP Kunai? 'Cause I've been experimenting with MP Kunai recently.

  • @rainstrife After a neckbreaker I typically use LP kunai. I'll only use MP kunai if I'm further away for some reason and I use HP kunai after back throws and long knockbacks (not for vortex, just pressure).

  • @morydees34 Only sometimes, I can get the timing right on LP kunai after the neckbreaker. Something I'm improving on. Also, the target combo cancel in ultra 2 I'm getting better with. Also, in training mode, I set the dummy opponent to block forward. While trying to hit the MP kunai behind them as they wake up from the neckbreaker. I'm not sure if this works, or if my eyes deceived me, but a few times I was able to hit it, at least it looked like it.

  • alright i'm gonna try it out

  • Damn, good shit.
