I don't know about the sound and the sax being equal to the vocal levels, maybe it's just on this recording. The tempo sounds like it's not keeping up and they are trying to make poppy but thank god that guitar part isn't taking over. Foreigner can't be fond of this video. I like the album better.
Scott Gilman's sax solo at deer creek makes this one sound like a dying cat! No disrespect intended to Mark he's pretty good but Scott just has more soul. Seriously check it guys out if you haven't already you won't regret it!
@Chuffyduffy The studio version with Jr Walker (Jr Walker And The Allstars, Shotgun / Road Runner / What Does It Take) on Sax is Unparalleled, these posers are falling way short of the mark that Jr laid down.
Yeaaah I saw those guys back in '83 with Bryan Adam at the Meadowlands. that was a kick ass show. I totally copped this feel off this passed out broad. every time I hear Urgent on the radio I think of that girls boob....and covered in vomit.
sax on this song were done both by junior walker, and mark rivera ( whom you see performing in this video)....junior did the great sax solo on the LP version of the song, mark worked on the remaining sax sections of the song!
sax player was Mark Rivera, he toured w/ them all through the '80's and played sax on the album version of ''Urgent'', except on the badass sax solo , which was performed by Junior Walker!
GREAT BAND GREAT SHOW THEY GIVE JUST SEEN THEM AT NIKON JONES BEACH 2010 PERFORMANCE WAS TOP SHELF FET LIKE I WAS I WAS LISTEN TO THE LP IT WAS THAT GOOD # 1 IN MY BOOK WELL WORTH THE TICKET I SEE THEM AGAIN ANYTIME CHEV!
See them at the First Niagra Pavilion near Pittsburgh (formerly the Post-Gazette Pavilion but known to everyone as Star Lake Amphitheater) on June 24, 2010 supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children!
@UnknownStoner420 Yea, before WW2 only the samurai class in japan had formal education, the rest worked in labor jobs for them or to support them, now they are technologically advanced, Very interesting.
@UnknownStoner420 : Commodore Matthew Perry (US Navy) came to Japan on March 31, 1854 forced the opening of Japan to the outside world with the Convention of Kanagawa.
When we saw them in Minot,ND 10 years ago or more, there were two on sax during this song. If you listen, sounds like a 2nd sax also on stage here. One sax can't play like 2.
As mentioned below it's Mark Rivera playing sax here, currently touring with Billy Joel and sounding better now in my opinion. I jammed with him and BJ's band a month or so ago; Mark was excellent and singing good!
@worldofoutlaws9 try connecting the mic on the sax to a guitar delay pedal and THEN to the mixing table. some mixing tables even come with the effects on them. it's easy and it sounds cool, and most of all, original =) good point though LOL
Deer Creek is the best Mick/Lou live!!! Do check out the current band on Soundstage or their new DVD packaged with the 2 cds! They have added a killer intro and the actual song is true to the recording only better -- seriously!! Thom Gimbel rocks the sax -- I have seen them live 5X this year -- seeing them again next week! So exciting!! This live version pales next to Deer Creek!!!
Sax player = Mark Rivera of Billy's Joel's band......."Sax Hero"? ?Why not?
On the studio recording, the sax was played by the legendary Motown sax player Junior Walker (Junior Walker and the All-Stars were best known for "Shot Gun" -- check it out on YouTube)
When I saw them 15 years ago, they had two saxes doing the sax solo, greatest sax sold ever in a rock song. Lou's voice is magic. Surgery was a big set back for his vocals but that's life.
they play it slower the poor sax guy is gonna run out of breath
