  • "ANYWAY IM PRETTY STOKED"

  • Thanks! Yah, I live on an Island, so I'm making a few trips a year. I can't remember exactly what it is but overheight was something stupid. Seeing as I was custom building the rack, it made sense to plan to avoid that as much as I could.

  • Nice! Your way ahead of me .. I still need a truck and rack:-0 Thanks for the heads on overall height ..I plan on using a ferry out in the NorthWest. It would be go to know If they have a shorter limit . Thanks .

  • Looks great man , if you have to redo the paint that spraycan bedliner works great and really holds up , i restore atvs and use it on racks bumpers etc, not rustoleum ,krylon!

  • @ravenmosley93

Yah, I've heard that works really well. My paint is holding up great, haven't had a problem at all. Check out the update vid.

  • how much you me for one

  • @rakitajr

Yah, it took me way too long to build it to make anything commercially viable. If I counted my time, you couldn't afford it. To make it affordable, I'd have to be building many of these at once and set up some proper tooling to do it. Sorry.

  • What are your dimensions for your hoops I really like the way you have the top one a little shorter then the bottom

  • Great to hear that its worked. Yes I had started mine but had to put it on hold for a while. Now I'm back at trying to finish it up. Still trying to figure out on how to mount it. I like the way you mounted yours . Thinking of doing something similar.

  • Any updates on how the rack has held up.

  • @fshkypr

Yah, I should put up an update vid. The rack is holding up great. It's easily as strong as I was hoping for, the finish is holding up great, inspite of bashing it through some tight trails. I've done a couple extended trips with with the tire, supplies, and 25 gal of fuel up there with no problems at all. I get positive comments about it all the time, and I'm really happy that all the work paid off.

You had mentioned before you were starting on yours, how did it work out?

  • Nice job, I'm lookin for a rack for my 4Runner and will prob go with Yakima - I could never build one since I have no welding skills

  • sweet bro

  • nice rack haha....... Is the spare just sitting in the circle or do you have it tied down?

  • nice

  • @mrwilliwizard

The spare's just sitting there in the vid just to show it. I use a different tire for a spare, tied down with a strap.

  • how much did it cost ya to build this

  • That is a beautiful lookin xj and roof rack you have there. Gotta say, NICE JOB!!!

  • awesome work!!! wish i can make my own too :(

  • nice job on the roof rack dude... wish i new how to weld i would have built one instead off buying one. by the way what kinda fender flares you got on that cherokee?

  • @moejr14

Flares are stock TJ flares. It was a lot more work then I was expecting, but they turned out OK.

  • gr8 job bro on the rack....u really crack me up how you stick up ur face on the first seconds of the vid lol....seems ur a nice funny guy, exactly we need to be during offroading. All the best.

  • The only problem that I can see with it is,that if folks don't see these videos...they'll never believe you made it at home.Awesome job, it's exactly what I want to build for my range rover. Thanks for your tips and ideas.

  • can you show how you mounted it to the roof . rack looks great. just started working on mine.

  • No pics on the mounting, but you can kinda see it in the vid. I replaced the factory rail with 1-1/2" angle, which I curved to match the roof and bolted into the factory nutserts. I bolted some 1-1/2" x 1/8" flat stock to the vertical legs of the angle and laid the rack frame on top. I tack welded the rack to the top edge of the flat stock and then pulled it off to finish weld. This way I can leave the mounts on the jeep and pull the rack if needed. It's a pretty solid setup.

  • Hey, sorry to take so long to get back to you, I don't check in often. I made the rack myself, and the size ended up being about 4' wide by 5' long by 6" tall.

  • my questions are who made the roof rack and whats the size thats on the roof.
