Arminius did not save Germania from Rome because after he successfully ambushed three Roman legions marching under their incompetent commander, Varus, Arminius himself was defeated repeatedly by the new Roman commander, Germanicus.

Germanicus himself was bent on completing the conquest of the rest of Germania but the jealous and foolish policy of the Roman Emperor Tiberius prevented this. The Roman writer, Tacitus, later condemned Tiberius for this short-sighted policy.

The Roman general Germanicus crushed any Germanic tribe including that of Arminius that tried to challenge the Romans after the Battle of Teutoburg Forest. The Germans mostly fled to the forest after a series of defeats and their attempt to ambush Germanicus failed dismally.

Germanicus was determined to crush any tribe and annex Germania for good but this was prevented by the awful decision of Emperor Tiberius stopping Germanicus' continuing advance and relentless and successful campaigns.

Rome never conquered the area right of the Rhine. That's a fact! The coalition of Arminius was able to fight against Marbod's 70 000 men after Germanicus had left. If the Cheruski and their allies would have lost these battles against Germanicus and if they had bigger losses, how could they win against the large army of Marbod? It's obvious that most Roman sources are just propaganda. There are no German

I love Germany, too, but I am sure glad we have peace and are friends. Fighting endless wars doesn't make good sense. Free trade, genuine worldwide prosperity, freedom and friendship are my goals. The worst part of NATO is that it keeps tension going between us and the Russians for no good reason. If I were President I'd probably get assassinated for this, but my goal would be to expand NATO to include the Russians, make a truly genuine peace with them, and stop all the double-dealing. Imagine the blessings of a real and lasting peace.

After the 300 died at Thermopylae, the Spartans beat the Persians. The Romans never managed to avenge this loss. This would be a movie where the bad guy wins, and Hollywood doesn't like those movies. I'd love to see it, if it was done correctly it would be amazing.

They will include some villain that is trying to make sure the two lovebirds don't stay together. Then in the last scene the main character kills the villain and then the lovebirds live happily together. There, I just saved the movie industry millions of dollars and saved everybody 2 hours of boredom.

Even though the Romans could not win in Germania they certainly kept them at bay for a long time. To me Rome is the greatest super power of the ancient world if not all of history. With all the internal strife, bad emperors, and rebellions etc. Along with attacks from almost all their frontiers they still managed to hold the line for a very long time bec of the few good leaders they did have and no small part to the Legions. It is almost a miracle that Rome lasted so long.
