First of all, I fail to see the connection between earning a living and accepting censorship. Second of all, the video does not denounce all forms of censorship as some of them are not without merit. The video takes issue with the narrow minded criticisms and reasons for which these books were eventually banned from the shelves of Bedford High School. An appreciation for the series of events preceding the banning is recommended before insulting those who point out a fault in two
John, this video is not a criticism on the fact that books are banned from curriculum but rather on the way two were banned. There was a long, educated process to ban Nickel and Dimed, but Water for Elephants was discarded immediately without real discussion after being challenged to avoid controversy. While I agree that reviewing and even banning books is a healthy and common practice, this was done unfairly. For a teacher your analytical skills are rather weak. Oh to be ignorant and senile!!
By the way, I'm a teacher and I can assure you that teachers and staff have been doing this in your school. They do it in all schools. Don't be so naive.
Oh to be a naive teenager again!! Kids this is what you are missing, books are and have been censored in schools for ages. I can tell you that the school has been censoring your reading material since it opened. Although it's not really censorship if you understand what censorship means.
When you earn a living and you have children, I suspect you will wise up. Until then, if you are going to criticize censorship in the schools you better start with the employees who have been doing this.
Great job you guys! You guys honestly hit this right on the head. The reason people are laughing at this is because it is spot on with the impersonations of the parents who complained about the book.
particular cases of censorship, not the practice itself. I pity your like mindedness with the subjects of this video.
