You mean Alberto Contadope/ Alberto Clenbuterol? ( That is what people call him on every site these days, dont get mad at me). He couldnt even follow Cadels wheel on stage 18 TDF 2011, Vockler was better than him, Vocklers "help" =Pierre Rolland humiliated him on Alpe Deuz....Great Andy Schleck( Non doper) won that stage by the way.
people keep going on and on about the lack of strong contenders against armstrong during his reign, but honestly racing at the protour level, and in particular at the tour de france, there really is no such thing as a weak contender, armstrong was just that much better
@GoonerMr This years TdF showed that cycling is still exciting. Can there be anything more boring than Lance's 7 consecutive wins? You people are just too lazy to keep on track with the new teams and riders.
You don`t know nothing about cycling boy. Where was Lance at the Olympic Games in Sidney? He was minutes behind the gold medal winner Ullrich, minutes behind the silver medal winenr Vinokurov and minutes behind the bronze medal winner Kloeden. So what? For Lance, it was much more important to win the Olympic Games race, because nobody in the USA gies a shit about the Tour de france...
@therealtimshady1983 it was anything but predictable! yer he won, but its not like he dominated every stage! Plus he had so many top rivals such as Ulle, basso etc that it made from great entertainment!
So many nice faces were around....Ullrich, Vino, Beloki, Armstrong, Mayo, Tyler Hamilton, Ivan Basso... All at their prime!!!!!!!! Tour never got the same :\
Contador will never have the charisma of Lance...and his rivals will never reach the likes of Ulle, Basso, Beloki, Vino...dahm I wiss those faces...today we don't have stars:(((((
1:55 just wondering why does he only have one brifter?

what was lance doing when he held his hand up and looked at the other rider?
mewoyou 10 months ago
1999: Zülle vas a good contender, he lost too much time in the Pass of Gois
2000: Best Armstrong (nothing to say)
2001: Best Armstrong, and a good Ullrich, but never close to 1997.
2002: Contenders??? Where were they? All respects for them, but they were not contenders al all
2003: Ullirch? He was ok, but I think 2001 Ullirch was even better than this one.
2004 & 2005: Basso? Basso took part in the giro in 2005. He could have been stronger, what we saw was ok, but not enough

That were the Tour de France's I loved to watch.
With guys, famous guys that were fighting man vs man on the climbs. Armstrong, Ullrich, Vinokourov, Mayo, Beloki, Zubeldia, Basso, Mancebo.
They didn#t want to hear anything about tactics, they just road their bike.
It was fantastic to watch, but now, there are the likes of Evans, Menchov, Leipheimer at the top of the classement, but nobody wants to see this guys.

its like looking at a drugs scene, sure 80 % is on doping. I think and hope the next tour it will be only like 10%.

Where was Jan during all the Tours he lost? Are you suggesting his doping schedule allows for him to peak for the Olympics?
fightinchicken26 2 years ago
If you can win the tour de france you dont need to win any other races its as simple as that

Tell that to Contador. He's a legend. Lance was too much of a chicken to try the Giro-Tour double.
