Vista sp1 is not bad as long as you have decent hardware. It is not perfect but with all updates now i can no more crashed than i did XP. Though the windows 7 beta currently beats vista and XP in stability and performance. So i think MS might have done a good job this time =D

Vista 64-Bit is as fast as XP-32-Bit and needs much more ram. It can do nothing more than XP in the moment. DX-10 can be written for XP, too, but Microsoft doesn't because they want to get Vista sold.

By the way: Microsoft didn't use the Beta-Phase. It's not ready and came out.

i'm using vista and have been using it since it was codenamed longhorn and it's fine.
i don't see anything wrong with it other than that it's reqs are a little harsh.

I got a brand new toshiba satalite laptop w/ core 2 duo processor and vista. And I hate it so much that I still ue my compaq presario 2200 over it. But dun worry I have about 4 laptops and only 1 has vista, and i have about 5 computers, all running on XP. Don't get Vista, it's a joke
