The BBC used trounce ITV with their WC and Euro's opening titles, but fair play to ITV, this was far better than the BBC's offering. Just a pity the World Cup it's self was the worst in living memory!

@michaelUNITEDKINGDOM My first world cup that I remember watching on the TV was USA 94 which was a bit dull because there was no England. The first tournament I remember is Euro 96 and nothing will ever beat that in my eyes, especially because I was at Wembley for the quarter final against Spain. Best World Cup I can remember is France 98. Although England went out at the the 2nd round phase, it wasn't met with as much disappointment as their knockouts from the 2002, 2006 and 2010 world cups.

Shame how this was the worst World Cup i've ever seen really, okay Spain and Holland contested the final that was good two different teams who've never won it but in the actual end it wasn't a classic World Cup by far for me 1998,and 2002, are the best ones.

imo from euro 2008 onwards, ITV have been much better than BBC at these opening titles - euro 2008 was a massive improvement on their previous efforts, and compared to the bbc one was a masterpiece! Then the eng qualifiers intro was probably the best ive ever seen

I think since ITV have gone with a more 'cultured' approach to their intros (classical music for euro 2008, showing key english places for qualifiers and this for 2010), they have been way ahead of anything the BBC could come up with!

ITV have definitely upped their game this year in terms of presentation for this year's World Cup, a great opening sequence compared to 2006 and looks like they've actually spent a bit of money on their studio set too, and I like Adrian Chiles as a presenter.

Usually the BBC are miles ahead, but this time round I think both are really good. ITV show classic images from past World Cups, but BBC credits just shows current players so for me the ITV one just edges it.
