Experts use their hands to block their faces from stab wounds, not slash wounds. By the time you brought the knife up to swing, you would have a nice slice in ur neck from a stab if you didn't have ur hand in the way. Better your hand then your face. Great video and demonstration of the combat ability this knife has. In certain parts of the country I cannot carry a handgun at my side but I would always have a Bowie knife, either concealed or openly worn. In close combat, especially against mobs, knives are even more effective than full-size handguns. Even when you are pressed to the ground by multiple attackers, you can deploy a Bowie knife and use it against the attackers' vital organs with devastating results.

The knife isnt that good, a large majority of these videos where there "testing" the blades are all rigged, once you get the knife trust me you couldnt do any of this stuff. It sucks because I had high hopes for some of cold steels knives. I carry a USMC Ka Bar with me, ITs not a bowie but that damn knife is indestructible almost. well atleast mine has been so far.

@JARS13N All current production "Combat classics in SK5 high carbon" which i believe is 1080 carbon, are MAR tempered. Meaning that the oil it is tempered in is brought up to 500 degreese, and when the knife is tempered it is then slowly brought back to rooom temperature. It holds a good edge, and really takes a beating. I pounded the shit out of that knife on a old solid oak railing, on the flat of the knife.

Lol, I think when they talk about using the arm as a shield they're talking about smaller knives, and trading the arm for getting cut on the throat or stabbed in the belly (in which case that's a good trade). If someone's gota 101/2 inch blade I doubt anybody would use their arm to block it.

As far as i'm concerned in a real knife fight the people in this video would be dead as they don't guard their neck and vital organs, in fact, I have yet to see a knife fighter do the posture that blocks both neck and vital organs. I would probably get beaten up in a fight but unlike the fat joke in the video at least I would prevent the opponent from knifing me in the chest or neck.
