  • This film launched my aviation career as an aircraft maintenance engineer and pilot and I am still "in it' over 40 years later! :) Such great music, seldom heard these days.

  • Comment removed

  • @mancmuso1 My apologies. The composer was of course Alfred Newman.

  • The muted trombone in the background is Hollywood studio trombonist, Dick Nash. Dick is legendary for his beautiful sound and ballad style.

  • Alfred Newman.

Father of Thomas and David, Uncle to Randy.

    Inventor of The Newman System.

  • This was written by Vincent Bell, not Alfred Newman!

  • @JR737400 No, it was composed by Alfred Newman. A pop recording was made famous by Vincent Bell.

    Get your facts straight.

  • a weak piece of music from Alfred Newman, weak melody.

His opening music to the same film is much better.

  • another snow storm coming even joe patroni couldnt get me out of the last... very strange music of joe in the cocpit always works............

  • I LOVE THIS SONG. I REMEMBER WHEN I CHILD I LIKE SO MUCH.

  • I am looking for a theme its called airport but its more disco sounding its an airport theme????????? its from the 70s!

  • They just don't make movies like this!

  • Is this a Henry mancini theme?

  • I fell in love with Jacqueline Bisset in this movie.

  • @BEFinAR I so agree. Nothing like Jacqueline Bisset, and nothing like the 707. The essence of the elegant late 1960s.

  • on the plane it was , whit bissel - helen hays- van helfin. all are dead. i say again, what a cast. also some of the actors in this movie were in dragnet, 1966-1970. with jack webb.

  • This movie made me want to be a pilot. I just flew the same route. ORD-FCO as a 767 Captain, 40 years later. thanks Dean!

  • This movie launched my career as a flight attendant in 1977 and I'm still at it.

  • @CB48197 fly me...

  • This movie launched me in 1977 on a flight attendant career that's still going strong today.

  • Miss you and your music a lot Alfred.

  • Shortly after this movie was made I became a flight attendant. The first plane we trained on was the Boeing 707-320B,like the one in this movie. It was always my favorite and it carried my passengers and crew through the worst weather and condition.

It was one of those planes that when viewed on the rampon a clear bright morning invited all who saw it to join her in flight. Of all the aircraft I have flown

this will always hold many found memories.

    Bob Levy

    ...still flying

  • @CB48197 bob i saw this movie in the fall of 1970, i was in the 8th grade. i still love it. how they made the mock up of the -707- is amaseing i think, the actors are so great, i would have loved to be in it, even as a no speaking part.

  • Jean Seberg was one triple grade AAA Piece Of Ass

  • cant believe its been 30 years man im getting old, still my favorite movie ever .you just have too be into aviation flying god knows the pay stinks.too bad travel has become what it is i dont even like airports orflying anymore.

  • Gee, ya spose he listened to Rachmaninov? A lovely tune. Thanks for posting.

  • does van heflin have 'da bomb?'

  • Eu vivo e revivo essa música até o fim de minha vida! Essa música em 1970, na minha adolescência, era o símbolo de um amor que eu sentia por uma garota!

  • Nice job! This movie is very special . . . I saw it the first time when I was about 6 years old. It was very instumental in my becoming a test pilot. I love the PAR approach scene (GCA for the old military dudes) . . . it was VERY accurate!

  • very moving video.....

  • Oh! Those time 70s, very nostalgic. Thank you!!!

  • @ 2:04 Whit Bissel

  • Wonderful movie....and a great tribute you have composed. Thank you.

  • thanks to all of you for the information given about the movie and the actors

  • Há muito tempo aguardava esse momento,

enfim consegui achar essa trilha sonora

    tão linda. Parabéns!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Always enjoy watching this movie and remember it while I go through an AIRPORT, anywhere:). I was fifteen when this movie first came out.

  • @rhctam saw it when i was 10 i think or i know started my love affair of aviation airports and flying however today i almost cant stand either.airlines .airlines stink at least all us domestic carries security is ridiculous and god forbid you stand outside of one and try to to take aircraft photos.however i still hum this every time i roll down a runway .which is alot less than ever. this movie was great.

  • @neweast1 I entirely agreed with you. Nowadays traveling by air has too much restrictions. But I'll always remembered this movie and the stars. Like George Kennedy.

  • @rhctam well thats one nice thing about the 707 it can do everything but read.george at his best plus he got his boxof cigars

  • @neweast1 LoL yes neweast1 surprise that you still remembered his box of cigars. The man is a great actor. I like the 707 much better then 737 and I know there are few that are still in service.

  • @rhctam never got to fly on 707 or dc8, however did get jump seat on cathay pacific flight from jfk to vancouver gave up first class seat for that worth every penny but for some reason couldnt get free drinks in cocpit oh well. best flight ever had pilots were great fun to talk to 5.5 hrs went by in minutes never get a chance to do that again it was in 97.thought about the movie and couldnt believe how lucky i was.

  • @neweast1 how did you get the jump seat?

  • just lovely .....one of the best movie ....great job.....

  • The guy sitting next to Helen Hayes in the aisle seat was a well loved actor. He was very popular back then. Played one of the lead roles in the sci-fi hit Time Tunnel. Great guy. Played a convincing scientist. He owned the white coat role.

  • Whit Bissell

  • Great Theme! I love soundtracks and I have a good collection of them, this included. They don't write music like this anymore! Alfred Newman and his brothers rank among the best in the business.... Tiomkin, Goldsmith, Ortolani, Waxman, Lai, Morricone, Mancini, Williams. Young, Mandel... to name a few. I like them all.

  • "They don't write music like this anymore!"

Yes, you're comment is certainly correct. It seems there are no longer any songs at the level of Moon River, Shadow Of Your Smile etc.

  • Don't forget Van Heflin(the guy with the bomb). He died a year or so after this movie was made. Also, Mary Jackson, of The Waltons, played the nun who drank the alcohol. She passed away in the '90s I think. BTW, you can see that Kennedy is my favorite in the movie.

  • Don´t forget the author of the theme, who also passed away in 1970: the great Alfred Newman.

  • =)

    great

  • thankyou for posting- this is what they used to call music to slow-dance to

    lovely and ever so romantic!!

  • thanks

  • Van Heflin next to last film(Last film was The Last Child aired 10/05/71, aired three months after he passed away)

  • beautiful song, sorry i missed the fun days of flying when flight attendent s werehusband looking gals, and the times allowed them to enjoy their jobs talk to male passenger without being labeled pervert s or threat s to aircraft security.

  • One of the all-time most beautiful love themes.

  • Love is a pervasive theme in this classic movie...the granddaddy of all air disaster films and still the best of them. Captain Vernon Demerest (Dean Martin) and his affair with stewardess Gwen Meighen (Jacqueline Bisset), airport manager Mel Bakersfeld (Burt Lancaster) and his romance with Tanya (Jean Seberg); and Inez Guerrero (Maureen Stapleton), who desperately loves D.O. (Van Heflin) despite his failures as a husband and a provider...beautiful imagery to counterpoint this haunting melody.

  • "remind me to send a thank you note to Mr. Boeing"

  • I love Vinnie Bell's version better, but this is still lovely. I still love to watch this movie whenever it's on.

  • I Love The Music

  • i love this song ,thank you for playin it, its a great instramental song.

  • It is wonderful music.

  • Vinnie Bells version is the best

  • i could not say which version is better, for me both version are wonderful.

  • goood this is f**** Beautifull, what a theme..what a feeling of flying music, pure genius in film music!

  • Great movie.

    Excellent theme.

    Unforgettable and formidable.

  • and how did i forget mr. kennedy..definitely, my apologies:)

  • "707 can do everything but read"....... RIP to all the great actors in this film and especially Ms Seberg.

  • here are the actors and actresses who have passed away

    Dean Martin

    Barry Nelson

    Jean Seberg

    Maureen Stapleton

    Lloyd Nolan

Helen Hayes(won an oscar in this film)

    Burt Lancaster

    Jesse Royce Landis

    Shelley Novack

  • Thanks for your research and the memories it brings back.

  • @frankd1965 You left out Van Heflin, who played the unfortunate bomber.

  • @mvp822 Thanks for the info. This was his next to last film. His last film was "The Last Child" made in 1971 which was part of The "ABC Movie Of The Week"

  • @frankd1965 -why cant hollywood make movies like this any more for. and find actors like these, i saw dean martins book, thet started fliming this movie on feb 9 1969, i was in the 6th grade. i saw it in the fall of 1970, i saw it about 6 times i loved it so much. thanks for playing this great hit.

  • @peteboy1113 you are right. Today's actors cannot even compare to these calssy ones. Hollywood movies are getting trashier with every movie they make. In those days no computers, just used the magic of film making. With technology you would think things would be great. I do not think so. I am with you on Hollywood making nice movies like these.

  • @calihartley2010 - i live in the past i must admit. but i have too, todays hollywood trash is what it is. long live these old time actors.

  • @frankd1965 oh lets not forget the great -van helfin- he has also died i think. my deam is to make a remake of this movie, i know i am dreaming, but hey it keeps me wanting to live. parts of this flim were made at the -msp- airport. the outside shots, you can see the old north west oreint planes, and the name.

  • @frankd1965 You forgot Van Heflin

  • @calumet27 I did mention him. George Kennedy was in all four films as Joe Patroni. He was involved with airplanes often

  • also the actress who played the role of Felix Unger's wife in the Odd Couple TV show, she plays one of the nuns who assisted the doctor(Paul Picerni) who worked on Jacqueline Bissett

  • i gotta check that out..thanks

  • Janis Hansen...she is listed in the credits..

  • janis hansen, former member of brasil '66and yes, she did play felix's wife in the tv show....thanks

  • sandra gould..mrs. kravitz #2 from bewitched.

  • very good song I close my eyes and just ride....

  • Unfortunately, this was his last score. Pity. The song is very beautiful.
