  • That wouldn't even be PI in today's game. And the ref that "missed" the call got hit in the head with a tequila bottle and was KOed right after that play

  • That season Cowboys won the Superbowl, everything that happen in this game was meant to be...destiny.

  • Clearly it was Nate Wright that initiated contact. He put his body into Drew without even reaching for the ball. And no Drew never admitted he pushed off and then changed his story.

  • did you record this with your microwave ?

  • 0:31 YouTube video: the "Hail Mary Pass" in the 1975 playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. With seconds on the clock and the Cowboys trailing 14–10, Staubach launched a 50-yard bomb to wide receiver Drew Pearson, who caught the pass and strode into the end zone for a 17–14 victory.

February 5, 1942: birth of Roger Staubach, American football player.

  • This little piggy (#88) caught a touchdown. This little piggy (#22) stayed home and didn't even help cover the only receiver down field. And this little piggy (#43) just quietly got up and walked away because he knew he got beat. Then he cried wee wee wee all the way home.

  • Over the years Pearson has changed his story about this play . Numerous times he admitted he pushed Nate Wright down and it should have been a penalty. For some reason when the teams played this season he is back to saying he didn't. I have seen this play dozens and dozens of times and only a blind person couldn't see he cheated. Back in those days ,Dallas was the biggest drawing team and the NFL wanted 'Mr All america' Roger Staubach to be in the SB every year just as they want Brady to now

  • I watched this game. Pearson pushed off the defender's back with both hands. Defender went flying forward, Pearson was looking for a flag. This was one of the biggest blown playoff calls ever.

  • NFL Board, y'all should have voted for DAT BOTCHED snap :(

  • Tecnically, the Vikings do have one NFL championship in 1969, before the NFL and AFL merged. So the trophy case isn't completely empty.

  • That's the same a NFC championship.

Like I said, Minny has Zero trophies.

Minnesota just whooped Dallas' ass and congrats to ya....now do something about your empty trophy case.

  • lol it doesnt stop the nfl from saying that the vikings are 0-4 in the superbowl. XP

  • 1/17/2010: Yeah, the Vikes and Bret Favre just destroyed the Cowboys, but hey...cheer up all you Cowboy "fans" that ride the bandwagon. Before you know it, it'll be baseball season, and you'll be able to hop on your other favorite bandwagon.....the NY Yankees bandwagon.

  • Payback is a bitch, isn't it drew pearson. In case you were hiding under the covers all day- The cowboys lost big today in Minnesota. You hid your cheating ways from the refs....BUT NOT FROM GOD.

  • @Varangian1915

A sign from god is that Dallas has 5 trophies and Minnesota has ZERO and they lost FOUR SB's.

Your trophy case looks just like the Eagles...empty.

  • @Varangian1915 God? Seriously? Oh eyah, the '75 Cowboys were undermining God. You're funny, pal.

  • @Varangian1915 however the saints just kicked yall asses!!! LOL SO GOD WAS WATCHING vi-queens cant hide forever!!!! muahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!

  • @hardcorefakes12 woah, worst franchise in nfl history coming to talk shit to one of the best franchises in nfl history. thats pretty funny, refs give you the nfc title and you think your all that.

  • @ChargersrBA wait im sorry, best franchises? 0-4? whats next? 0-5? how come vikings fans think the refs always cheat them? r u mad because you'll never be able to touch the lombardi trophy? maybe u should come down here so we can wipe your candy ass. r maybe u can come down here to actually see a lombardi trophy in person. and by the way, we have the third lowest percentage in nfl history as of 2008 so were not the worst. at least we won what matterd most

  • one sb appearence in 40 years. that great, the vikes have 4. they havent won it but they still are a lot fucking better than the saints. they have one of the richest histories in nfl history. your just a dumb ass kid that doesnt know shit about the history of nfl.

  • @ChargersrBA well think about it this way the vikings were established in 1961. do the math. it took u guys longer to win one (which u havent) than us XP. superbowl apperences mean crap if u dont win them. rich history whatever. like throwing a bottle at the refs head?

  • @ChargersrBA appearances mean nothing unless you win the big game.

  • @deathmetaldbh well fuck u, u and the rest of the fucks that think they know hit about the nfl, OJ simpson never won a sb, but hes one of the best players in nfl history. Barry Sanders never won a ring but hes still one of the best if not the best hb in nfl history. the bi game is nice, but it doesnt mean everything when it comes to team history.

  • If you look at, Drew pushed Nate just enough to use Nates momentum to knock him off balance. Ref deserved the bottle.

  • drew was so wonderful that she didn't even make the ponibois' ring of honor, heheheh.

  • whether he pushed off of not, the Vikes should have had more than one defender on him...that's on Bud Grant. Hey maybe my Vikes will get a crucial non-call or two on sunday, and karma will have come around.

  • Hmm, I did not see this game live, but have heard about it often as a Viking fan since 1977. I'm also a former DB, so I don't like the interference rules anyway...honestly, as I review and play it back, it doesn't look like Pearson did push. It looks more like Nate tripped and fell down as Pearson went back for the ball. Sucks!

  • Its hard to say. I thought I might have gotten pass interference. It could have gone either way. -Drew Pearson after the game

  • @panterafrii "I used that swim move that receivers use to get inside position on defensive backs," Pearson said. "There was contact with Nate Wright, but there was no deliberate push."

To this day, Pearson insists that he did not commit offensive pass interference on the play.

  • Vikings win the game sundAY by about 14-21 points.

  • Drew so obviously pushed off. Nate was not pushing.

  • Vikings fans are babies. Both players went for the ball. Happens all the time and there's never a flag.

But, because this play happened to occur in a "do-or-die" situation, you Vikings fans are all projecting your disappointment onto the "non-call" by the ref.

If the Vikings win the next three Super Bowls in a row, you would all be forgettiong about this play and you would even be saying it was a correct "non-call".

  • @001bf no duh. But until then, we will complain. Drew pushed Nate.

  • such a baby

  • Did you even read my post? Do you know what a "non-call" is? Idiot. They both pushed each other. IT HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME.

    Grow the fuck up.

  • Easy killer. Someone is obviously on the bandwagon for the over-hyped Cowboys. I do know the rules of the NFL, I do know what a "no-call" is, so just stop talking. It's almost fun to piss off the arrogant hicks of Cowboy fans. Drew pushed Nate.

  • Also watching it back, How can you say the both pushed each other? Nate had his back to him the whole time! He didn't even run into Drew. And by calling the Viking fans babies, you're calling some of the toughest fans in the NFL babies. (Besides Oakland) You little hicks of Cowboy fans need to be SCARED going into this weekend. Cause unfortunately, your little "superstar" in Miles Austin and Tony Homo are going to get killed. CRY BITCHES CRY

  • I remember being 13 years old and standing up screaming..."He pushed off! He pushed off!" I became a Viking fan and a Cowboy hater on this day in 1975...revenge will be sweet this weekend!

  • fucking push pearson

  • :20 DB overruns the play. :22 Drew Pearson has both arms outstreched for the ball. No offensive pass interference. Cowboys win, Vikings lose AGAIN.

  • PI he admitted it himself. Accept it.

  • Vikings will get sweet justice (again) when they ound Dallas next week just like '99. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • Now who's smoking something. If you played anyone but the Giants last week you would be in the wild card game.

  • *own Dallas

  • The greatest non-call in NFL history....just more proof that Dallas has had more help from the refs than any other team. And no, I'm not a Viking fan. What you bandwagon pussies need to realize is this: the true fans in America will NEVER LAY BACK AND ALLOW you or the media to get away with this Hail Mary play as LEGIT. It will ALWAYS be "tainted" play and memory for you. It was poetic justice that Dallas lost the Super Bowl after this game. How many of you pussies also root for the Yankees?

  • @colderbeer I have to laugh at people like you who resort to calling someone names because they dont stand behind the same team you do.All teams had good moments and bad ones. Some out shine others..,but really, grow up and stop the name calling, you should have been out of your mothers basement a long time ago.

  • Dawn, what part of my post is untrue? Seriously...unless you've had your head up your ass for the past 30 years, you already know that the majority of Dallas fans are Bandwagoners who have also pulled for the Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Notre Dame (when they had a winning team, of course) and the Yankees. You really ought to get all your facts straight before you decide to call someone out next time....otherwise you expose yourself as a no-nothing naive dunce.

  • Oh grow up and get over yourself. Not all Dallas fans are on the bandwagon. I'm certainly not, unless you want to call 30+yrs as a Cowboys fan being on the bandwagon.

Also, for the record, the Yankees, Lakers, Bulls, and Notre Dame have NEVER been on my fav list, lol. In fact they are all either on the suck list, or in the case of ND, not even on my radar.

  • @colderbeer So just because everyone roots for a certain team their bandwagoners? Maybe their team sucks? Besides, it seems to me that your just a cowboy hater. Nothing that you say matters because your opinion is "tainted".

  • Are you like 12 years old? Seriously.....you're either a naive little kid, or you're a stupid fuck who's had his head up his ass all of his life. Where have you fucking been? Where? Oh no.....Dallas isn't the biggest BANDWAGON team of all time....it's really the Detroit Lions....no, it's actually Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team! Full fledged idiots like yourself shouldn't even be allowed opinions. A real fan roots for the teams from where he's from. Period. Go buy a new Yankees hat now.....

  • fuck yea! i always say cowboys and yankees fans are bandwagoners unless they're from texas or newyork areas.

  • Drew Pearson did NOT push off. What a bunch of viking crybabies. The ball was underthrown and the CB jumped backwards to defend the ball.

  • "jumped" backwards?? lmfao What are you smoking I want some.

  • HARRY K!!!!!!!!!

  • Vikings fans still crying after all this time....and you've sucked ever since.

  • So they sucked when the Cowboys lost to the Vikes in the 2000 playoffs?

  • Does not surprise me a bit! Dallas always were cheaters who always got the ref calls their way! They have never had any honor or sportmanship behaviour on the field. It was always win at any cost! Just because no penalty was called sure did not mean he did not do it!

  • Cheaters? You smoking dope? How are we cheaters, because a call that SHOULDN'T be called doesn't go your way? Get a life my friend.

  • fuck you cowpie. I am NOT a Vikings fan but there should have won that game. Are U just a baby or have you had 33 years of watching football? The Cowboys were NOTORIOUS for getting all the calls their way-that's where New England knew where to go to steal THE HOW TO STEAL AND TAKE CHEAPSHOTS AND WIN handbook!

  • What is #22 doing just prancing along and playfully skipping over his own players?! Hit the receiver!!!

  • You're right, he does trip over himself.

  • this video is proof positive DREW DIDNT PUSH OFF!! AND I AM LAUGHINGMY AS OFF AT A VIKINGS FAN CALLING THE COWBOYS CHOKERS!! ARE U SERIOUS?

  • Roger Staubach is one of the greatest QBs in history... GO COWBOYS!!!

  • You losers take football way too seriously. LOL.

  • All you "hail mary" believers are full of doo doo! He pushed off. If you look at the color film, you can see that a flag was thrown and obviously it was picked up. Fran Tarkenton's dad died of a heart attack that day. Dallas is for cheaters.

  • That wasn't a flag, but rather something from the stands. However, you are right about Pearson pushing off. It's pretty clear that Nate Wright heading down and Pearson's arm is going in the same direction, a clear indication he pushed off.

  • Oh bummer, I was totally not expecting to get suckerpunched by Harry Kalas's voice :(

  • Look at Pearson after he catches the ball. He looks back to see if any flags are being thrown before he celebrates. Great game. Certainly Randy Moss has perfected the same bump move. Just win Baby whatever it takes.

  • Pearson hands were below the d-backs waist when he got the ball no interference.Dum Vikings fan!

  • Seeing as how Pearson has ADMITTED it publicly, I think you should reassess that view.

  • Pearson never admitted he pushed. That's a myth. Never happened. Just like the push never happened. Watch the video closely. Both Drew Pearson's hands are reaching out for the ball. The only contact is when Nate Wright's feet run into each other, because he was out of position, just like he was a few plays before on 4th down when he let them complete a long pass to make the first down along the sideline. Nate Wright doesn't even complain when he gets up. He just hangs his head and walks away..

  • Ah. I guess I'll buy that. Easier to believe that we wuz robbed, though. Really does feel bad knowing that.

Ah, well. In two years they'll be L.A.'s problem.

  • Not that it matters now - there are no second chances. And it's the fuckin' Vikings. This kind of shit happens to us all the time. We're used to it by now.

  • Final score said the Cowboys won. You got the title, we get the privilege of being vindictive and bitter for all eternity.

  • That it's called the "Hail Mary" adds further significance, as it proves conclusively that God hates the Minnesota Vikings. Just can't catch a break, can we?

  • ... but I do love this comment. Sums it up well. I too am a Vikings fan. I spent many years of my life believing Nate Wright was pushed, until I saw the NFL Films angle from the end zone. I think it feels better knowing the truth: The Vikings are chokers. 1998, Super Bowl IX, Arizona game, etc.

  • Oh, and personally, I like the notion that it's a "Hail Mary" - that is, a PRAYER - that beat us. It further cements the notion in my mind that God hates the Minnesota Vikings.

  • Well... you know... Tom Landry was quite the bible banger. Guess we could have used Cris Carter back then.

  • god hates the browns more lol

  • I'm not a Vikings fan, BUT, how could u call urself a vikings fan and then say that they're chokers?

  • You're right. I'm not a fan. I'm just someone who has watched every game for 40 years. I'm just a person who has a good day when my team wins and a bad day if they lose. You don't have to think that your team is perfect and can do no wrong no matter what in order to be a fan. That's what religion is for.

  • HEY!! Not ALL Vikings fans think it was interference. OK... maybe 99.99% But I think Nate Wright fell down after he tripped over his own feet like the clutz that he was.

  • no push off

  • it might not have been pass interference but still the safety should have hauled ass and tackled pearson before he hit the end zone giving the cowboys the win

  • I remember seeing the orange go across the field right in front of the play.I thought it was a flag.

  • was that the play where the ref got hit with a bottle thrown from the stands afterwards? Incredible throw byt the fan actually hitting his target, even if was a terrible thing to do.

  • Pearson just caught a 50 yard bomb with seconds remaining in a playoff game. When he runs into the end zone he looks like a kid who just stole a cookie. Honestly, he doesn't even celebrate this amazing playoff touchdown for about 4 seconds because he is looking for the flag. I didnt see a push off, but Pearson's reaction shows that HE thought he pushed off and was expecting to get caught. It was only after realizing that there was no flag that he celebrated. That's what fan's reacted to.

  • agreed look at his face just after he got the "td" he looks at the refs and the defenders for like 2 or 3 sec and then celebrates the amazing seconds left 17-10 "win" over the vikes it might not have been pass interference but still #22 should hauled ass and tackled pearsons dumbass

God the only thing that beat this was when Gary Anderson missed the field goal and we decided not to go into overtime against the Falcons

  • it actually looks like he was going for the interception... but he over ran it... was trying to back pedal... and fell down.

    FAIL.

  • wow, basicly when drew pearson was in his prime, that guy was like the rocky balboa of wide recivers

  • Pearson pushed off. You can see it at :22. Pearson even looks for the flag before he starts to celebrate.

  • someone just isn't happy with the outcome

  • I don't see a push off. If anything it was the CB running into the WR and falling down.

  • SEE WHAT!? this shit is grainier than that old sasquash vid! You cant honestly mean to tell people FURTHERMORE CONVINCE people he pushed off! GET ATTA HERE

  • @BaldViking awww someone is sad that the vikings have 0 rings. Quit crying

  • #22 is Paul Krause aka the nfls all-time interception leader with 81.

  • fuck dallas fuckin southern fags go fuck your goddam raicest fag familys

  • hahahahaha..

    hater

  • somebodys a lil jealous the cowboys won

  • Too bad the Cowboys lost in the Superbowl that year.

  • You can't see arm extension because he pushed from behind and is blocked by the defender from view

  • There are 3 other angles of film. Go check it out from behind. This was defensive passing interference.

  • If you can't see the push off....well then how do you know it happened??

NO INTERFERENCE people, rather horrendus coverage by a veteran Viking defense....the catch was'nt too shabby either.

  • The ball just stuck to his hip, incredible

  • RE;jermaine550.

That catch was truly unbelievable. Everything about that last Cowboys drive was, including the 4th and 17 ist down.

You see amazing one handed catches all the time on highlight shows. In fact, I bet many of us may have made a onehander or two.

But go in your back yard and try trapping a football with one hand ( wrist actually ) and your hip. It's next to impossible...

The stars where aligned that day.

  • And at the same time have a Viking defender stopping and blocking your body with passing interference. LOL!!! 5 Stars!!!!

  • damn, minnesota teams experience bad breaks when it comes to the big game. they cant win anything; super bowls, stanley cups, or nba titles.

  • Did someone forget the Twins?

  • Superbowl IX wans't nessessarily a ass kicking for the Steelers. No doubdt they shut down the Vikings offense we all no that, not to mention Harris' and Bleirs running. But in THIS game the Vikings DID make plays. They got a few sacks, recovered fumbles, blocked a punt and they actually had a couple of drives. They where deep in Steeler territory twice early in the game and blew it. They where IN it until late in the 4th quarter.

It was just as heartbreaking to watch. Still bugs me.

  • Oh, and F.Y.I.: Steelers 6, Vikings 0. (in Super Bowl championships that is.) And who gives a shit how they won- a W is a W. No matter how you slice it, the Vikings are LLLLHHHHOOOOOOOOSSEEEERRRS.

  • As far as using "my" team or " your" team. Most true fans say it this way. We do not have to physically play for them. Read a lot of these comments and you'll see the same. Secondly, sounds like someone has anger management problems and in need of defending the Steelers. Yeah, they won. But they did not dominate anyone. Got lucky a couple of times. That's all. Also learn how to spell if your going to name call. It's spelled losers, not lhosers. VCR? No. You Tube, yes.

  • Got lucky a couple of times. Wow. Now I know you're a complete fucking moron. I don't have to defend the '70s Steelers, they dominated everyone. How is 47 years (and counting) without a championship treating you?

Yeah, I know it's 'loser', douchebag, I was fucking around. Too bad Adrian Peterson is wasting away on your worthless piece of shit team. I feel bad for him.

  • Don't feel bad for AP. Barring injury, the Vikes will go into Pittsburgh and beat'm next year. Oh BTW, the Vikes have a winning record all-time against your beloved Steelers

  • Barring injury. See, you're already prepared with an excuse and the game doesn't even have a set date yet. Yep, you're right. 8-6 all-time vs Pitt. But, it's funny, the only one of those 14 games that anyone gives half a crap about was Super Bowl IX , which the Steelers won HANDILY with an exciting array of dominant plays on offense and defense. The memories of Franco running up and down the field all over the sad Vikes' D will last a lifetime.

  • Ok, then when the vikes win don't write and say "if we would have had Ben, you would not have won" and I will not say that about AP. But I would like to play when both teams have their best players on the field. You really need to get a grip on this won handily thing. There is no one in their right mind that would agree with you unless their a homer like you.

  • Homer like me? Hey, I'm not the one saying "we won" and "our guys". I call it as I see it. Franco Harris- 158 yards rushing- super bowl record. THAT is a dominant performance by a running back against a defense in any game. Anyone who says different is a fucking idiot.

  • Okay then, when the Pitt-Min game comes up and A.P. & Roeth are both playing, then it's on! Not that I really care either way- I'm actually a bigger A.P. fan than a fan of anyone on the Steelers. (and FYI, I was rooting for Arizona) Purple Jesus is a great RB and I hope he stays healthy for a long time.

  • 8-6. Read it and cry in your terrible towel

  • I don't actually own a terrible towel, but if I did, I would've laughed in it after that ridiculous attempt at sticking it to me. 8-6 huh? Wow, ya got me there! I don't know how I'll ever be able to cope with that one! Oh no! The Vikings won two more regular season games than the Steelers did! How can I possibly go on living??

Oh yeah, I know: Super Bowl IX: The Steelers beat the holy fucking shit out of the Vikings! HA- HAAAA!

  • Well hell, your no fun. I thought you were a diehard Steelers fan. No wonder you do not say our team. Which btw, any true fan would. Sorry but your argument of ass kicking just does not hold water and never will. Been fun arguing with you...NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Skol Vikings!!!

  • Nope, just an objective, unbiased NFL fan who knows a good asskicking when he sees it. Like the one the Steelers laid on the Vikes... and the one I've been laying on you. Talk to ya again in 6-8 months after the 6-time Super Bowl champion Steelers beat down your Super Bowl-winless Vikings.

  • Yeah, the Vikes got beat in the other games handily. But that is not the game we started to talk about. You made the comment of the Steelers kicking the Vikes ass. Had nothing to do with the other games. The Steelers were as lucky and the Vikings were unlucky in those games. As far as the Oakland game, by then, the Purple People Eaters defense was getting old. They were just trying to make one last hurrah.

  • Oh, I guess we can ONLY talk about the Steelers-Vikings super bowl. I didn't know there were rules applied to our discussion. So let me get this straight, when the Steelers win, they're just lucky. When the Vikings lose, they're just unlucky. Are you fucking three years old?

  • Oh, by 1976, the Vikes' defense was getting old! Oh, how convenient! This defense that somehow managed to help put the Vikings in the super bowl was getting old. You're just full of excuses for your sad, beloved Vikings aren't you? Pa-the-tic.

  • How about cutting it out with the name calling. If anyone is acting like a 3 year old, IT'S YOU!!!!!!!!!! I was just stating the obvious about one game that you made a boneheaded comment own. OK!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck you, dickhead.

  • I rest my case.

  • What case? That you're a moron that knows jack shit about NFL history? Oh okay.

  • Everytime you write back with that IQ of 50, you just keep making my point. Although, I would not expect YOU to understand. It takes someone with an ounce of intellect to grasp these big boy responses.

  • What is your point again exactly? Do you really think just because I told you to fuck off that somehow I am incapable of intellect? I gave up on your dumb ass when you started in about this 'lucky' and 'unlucky' load of crap. I do agree with you on one aspect of you're incoherent ramblings: you definitely have one ounce of intellect.

  • It WAS a pushoff. When Drew Pearson later told Chuck Foreman that he had pushed off, I am pretty sure that he pushed off. People who say it was poor defense are stupid. How do you fly back like Nate Wright?

  • I actually have a VHS copy of his game as broadcast, I don't think there was a push off. They replayed from several different angles. One funny thing about this was how one of the ref got knocked out by a snowball after the score, and they had to delay the game so the PA guy couls warn fans about tossing things on the field.

  • The Vikings should have won Super Bowl 9 In New Orleans!

  • Vikings fans should actually be glad this happened. It saved Tarkenton from going 0 for 4 in super bowls and the Vikes from going 0 for 5. The Steelers would've kicked the shit out of them in super bowl X.

  • You think so. I don't recall the Steelers kicking anyone's ass in any of those Super bowls back then. Matter of fact all those games came down to the last minutes of the game before they were decided.

  • Well, they definitely kicked the Vikings' ass in SB IX. The Steelers held the Vikings to 119 total yards and zero offensive points. Tarkenton threw 3 picks and if not for a blocked punt in the 4th quarter, the score would've been 16-0. I'd say that's an ass-kicking.

  • What a selective memory. Our defense was just a dominant. If you recall, it was 2-0 at half on a safety. The reason why we scored on that blocked punt is because we had you backed up in the endzone. And one of the touchdowns you guys got was because of a muffed kickoff to start the 2nd half. Pittsburgh had the ball inside the 20 yard line. Take those plays out and the score 7-0. That is certainly not an ass kicking.

  • "Our defense"? Am I talking to Carl Eller or Alan Page here? What position did you play on the 1974 Vikings exactly? Yeah, "your" defense was so dominant, you gave up 249 yards on the ground, including a Super Bowl-record 158 yards from Franco. Total yardage allowed: Pitt D: 119 Vikes D: 333. Oh, I'm sorry- but take all those plays out and the Vikings would've won 37-0! How silly of me!

  • Of course there was no instant replay back then or you guys would not have scored then either. Maybe you still win, maybe not. There was only 3:31 to go in the game at that point. Prior to that, the score was 9-6. Again there is NO WAY you can honestly say the Vikes got their asses kicked. You guys were lucky to pull it off. As a matter of fact, it you look at all the Steelers Super Bowl wins..a missed play here or there and they lose. Including the 2009 win.

  • You keep saying "you guys" like somehow I played for the Steelers. Do you try really hard to be an idiot or does it just come naturally? I also get the feeling that 34 years later, you're still sitting in front of your TV, rewinding and fast-forwarding your VCR with a copy of SB IX in it and trying to convince yourself that the Vikings somehow won that game. Sorry, I'm HONESTLY saying it with EXTREME PREDJUDICE: Vikings. Ass. Kicked. End of story.

  • You don't like that one? Okay how about, in addition to the 24-7 Miami beatdown, I bring you the THIRD installment in the "Vikings were just as good as any other '70s team" saga: Do you recall something called "32-14"? OUCH! My what a dominant defense "you guys" had! The only people-eating that was done that day was by the Raiders. DO YA FEEL THAT, BUDDY? HUH? DO YA?

  • Oh, and also, that Super Bowl-record 158 rushing yards by Franco Harris broke the previous record of 145 set by Larry Csonka exactly one year earlier... against your "vaunted" Vikings D, who were embarrassed 24-7 by the Dolphins.

Wow. Sometimes it hurts me being so right all the time.

  • It does not matter about the total yards gained. There has been many games where the team won the yardage, lost the game. The bottom line is that you guys had only one legit drive the whole game. Even in that drive the Steelers fumbled the ball and the Vikings recovered it. One ref said viking ball and another said Steeler ball. Replays show he fumbled it. The play was when Bradshaw threw a 32 yard pass to the TE Brown. Brown lost the ball before he hit the ground.

  • What people forget is that there were two keys to the play. Staubach got Krause out of the play by pump faking way left, then Pearson benefits by the ball being slightly underthrown, which allows Pearson to react to it quicker. Wright reacts to it, but has to stop and turn too quickly, and then loses his footing.

  • Yeah sure, that 's what happened. Drew admitted he pushed off in an interview.

  • Drew said straight up on his show a year ago that he NEVER pushed off

  • Well, he is either lying now or lied then.

  • he actually did get his feet tangled. he was trying to grab the ball and his left foot t ripped againest drew pearson

  • I hope that wasn't there actual defense.

  • We should have won that game!!

  • but you didnt

  • isn't that ed marinara the actor who was on Laverne & Shirley at the very start?

  • That sure is........you can find him at the Olive Garden nowadays.

  • Pearson pushed off.

  • there wasn't a push the nigga jus tripped jeez get off drew pearsons nuts

  • AH BULLSHIT!

  • NO PUSH! POOR DEFENSE.

  • I love the crowd's reaction! As a Vikings fan, I would've done the same thing: "As the Metropolitan Stadium crowd was stunned to learn that no penalty was called, debris was thrown on the field for several minutes. One bottle struck a game official, rendering him unconscious."

    -Minnesota Viking's Wikipedia article

  • it wasnt a pushoff, pearson slowed up for the ball made the catch. defender got lost lol

  • Bullshit. I saw the whole game and they showed replays from various angles during the game. How can you tell he didn't push off from this shit video? You can't.

  • Pearson is a bastard, he didn't admit to it because the refs were clearly on his side and why would he admit to something he got away with? It would take away the "prestige" of being a cheating bastard as known by 99% of America, the other 1% being idiotic Cowboys fans.

  • Was this taken from those old "AROCA Presents Fantastic Finishes" commercials?

  • i dont c a pushoff, but there was definitely a lot of contact from both parties

  • There are vids with much better angles and quality of the push off by Pearson square in the back. I watched the game and saw the replays and announcers said it was obvious. No call by the ref is what was amazing. This video doesn't show jack.

  • a lot of viking fans forget that this was the 1st round of the playoffs and the Cowboys went to LA and beat the Ron Jaworski led Rams 37-7 the next week in the NFC Championship. the cowboys also got a gift when on 4th and 15 from their own 15 yard , Staubach hit Pearson at midfield when Pearson was about 3 feet out of bounds which would have ended the game right then, but the refs called a pushout and gave them a first down. Obviously ref crew was from Texas.

  • as a san francisco fan i agree with u

  • As a San Fran fan, how do you feel about the screw job call against Eric Wright in the Champ game against the Redskins when Montana made one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history? The Redskins deserved to get their ass stomped against the Raiders in Super Bowl XVIII after that.

  • Pearson pushed him. However, regarding the out of bounds catch, I would have to fault the Viking defensive back for that one. If Pearson isn't touched, he'll go out of bounds and the game's over. However, once the defender pushed him (he did), the benefit of the doubt goes to the receiver. Today, it wouldn't matter because the NFL has done away with the push out call. You're either inbounds or you're out.

  • i'm pretty sure pearson admitted to pushing off.

  • Of course he didn't admit to it. Because he didn't. Nate Wright was fighting with Pearson the whole way down the field because in those days defensive backs had a lot more lee-way to do that. Pearson just won the fight, a fact Vikings fans like to overlook.
