I like this episode soo much because it reminds me of all the stories my grandmother would tell about growing up in the deep south (New Orleans, Louisiana) and how she was a teenager (13 or 12 to her) when this march happened. The way they tell the story is from thier own accounts and they tell the story the same way my grandma and her friends tell it, it makes me proud to be an African American woman.
They do talk like they are the same age but there are specifics that are left out that could explain things.. Like here they are talking about a Halloween dance they attended together but there was no mention of their age. Perhaps Claire was in HS by that time and Cliff already in college. They talk about being at Hillman together but I don't think there was ever mention of where Cliff attended Medical School so maybe he attended at Hillman which would put them at the school at the same time.
OK -- I distinctly remember that when Clair had her 46th birthday in season 5, Cliff was supposedly 51. So they have a 5-year age difference.
So... I find it strange that whenever they talk about their childhood / teen years, they make it sound as if they were the same age. I mean, were they really going to dances together when he was 16 and she was 11...? o.O
@chieftainette yeah.. thats strange. in one episode, they said "dad is FOUR years older than mom", yet they went to the same college and everything. weird..
