Legalizing marijuana is also on the voters ballot this year, that allows the taxation of the commercial production, distribution, and sale of the marijuana. It's so stupid that Americans have to register to vote. You're already citizens; it's your right to vote. Why do you have to apply for the right to do so by registering? It makes no sense to me. Don't Americans have a census? Don't you get a social security number? Don't you pay taxes? Why can't this information be used to create a voter registry in the US? I think a lot of non voters are discouraged by this, or at least use it as an excuse not to vote.

Visitor48 might not realize this, but there is more to democracy than just voting for the president. You also vote for your local representatives and the gov has to know what district you are in so you only vote for your reps, and so your presidential vote is represented by your representative to the electoral college.
