BACK IN 1996 MY FIANCE AND I SPENT A WEEKEND AT BUTLINS(BOGNOR REGIS)THINK ITS NOW CALLED SOUTHCOAST WORLD) ALONG WITH SOME OF THE MEMBERS OF A SOCIAL CLUB WE BOTH BELONGED TO. WE DIDNT KNOW THAT MARTY WAS APPEARING THERE (FOUND OUT BY CHANCE - WHEN LOOKING TO FIND SOME OF OUR FRIENDS ) WHEN WE WALKED IN TO ONE OF THE BALLROOMS. COULDNT BELIEVE I WAS ACTUALLY WATCHING ONE OF THE EARLY 60'S MOST POPULAR SINGERS, LIVE. WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM IN CONCERT AGAIN.
I was a young technician at the ABC (Savoy) Lincoln in 1959 when Marty appeared on stage there....I managed to sneak him out after the show away from the screaming teenagers...GOOD THEN ...EXCELLENT NOW.
Agreed, as much as I luv early British R&R esp Cliff etc this song's never really done it for me, but this is fantastic, even better when we were sat there live (what a show !)
Marty's group the Wildcats was half the Shadows. old saying what goes round comes around. Back with the Shadows. Think Big Jim Sullivan lead, Brian Bennett drums( Shadows) Brian Locking bass( Shadows). Big Jim played with James Last for awhile.Cant remember who 3 guitarist was
I got drunk with this guy in Sunderland about 1972 - 3 . La Strada night club. He was doing a gig at Southwick Working Men's Club and then the La Strada. Very nice to talk to and his band thought he was cool too. Guitar player gave me some advice if you practise a riff untill you get it right 9 out of ten - you got it. Keep on Rockin' Marty.
i live in next village to marty really proud of my little claim to fame.. he looks fabulous
