  • everything is told in english, but Doppelkupplungsgetriebe not. why didn't they translate it also into an english word??

  • i'd want one of those!

.. although i'd NEVER put the hybrid function on x]

  • why make it a hybrid sports car its like selling skim milk with a splash of heavy cream -___-

  • This is bullshit.I wonder, how good will the upcoming 2013 Nissan GTR R36 be?

  • @eivis13It will be very good, but no one in his sane mind will buy it given they can afford one of these. It is more exclusive, it has a bigger badge and it is way better looking, and let´s not forget the fact that it uses much less fuel and it is also a hybrid. Really all those upsides more than compensate for the GTR´s slightly higher speed.

    So no, it isn´t bullshit.

I do like the GTR but this is clearly better at everything except perhaps performance, and it´s still a hybrid car.

  • @MrMadpenguin I haven't seen the upcoming GTR R36 spec

  • 0:31 SHEPARD ? O_o

  • LOL turn it at first to 1080p then to 240 :D

  • I like how he sais "Doppelkupplungsgetriebe" at 0:57 :D

  • english word for "doppelkupplungsgetriebe" is dual clutch transmission.....i think this sounds better than an german named"doppelkupplungsgetriebe" in an english spoken advert video

  • WHAT HYBRID

  • Damn metric system

  • @UTubeM0D Lol..Why? Because the US is the only country in the world that hasn't adopted it yet? Imperial system is way to old and outdated. The rest of the world has been using the metric system for about 200 years now.

  • my cousin have porsche carrera i have audi tt trolololo

  • i'm here just to say that HOLY CHEESE glorious

  • most amazing car in the world

  • that is one sexy car

  • i always think that the future for civil car would run on electricity, supercars and race car would be on hybrid. And only one of the special officer can drive a car that runs only on petrol and petrol only.

  • Shit the bugtia has some to comepeat with

  • Comment removed

  • i came

  • it´s a MEN CAR ;)

  • Holy shit O.O

  • it's faster that carrera GT :(

    I don't sure for that

  • The 918 Spyder looks to be the car to car the Porsche legacy to the next generation of cars and undoubtly the lessons learned from the 918 on hybrid power implamentaion will some how find there way into the next generation of the 911 and continue to make the now 50 year design of the 911 last into its 60's

  • IS SHEPPARD DRIVING OR WHAT

  • People that can afford these type of cars don't concern themselves with fuel costs.

  • @Truemoderate They still may concern themselves with climate destabilization.

  • No wonder why most engineers at Porsche earn fortunes as payment... geniuses.

  • dream!!!!!

  • CFK Monocock. That's pretty good.

  • Sigh, the power to weight ratio is likely a miss-translation. "Power to weight ratio" implies (Power / Mass). A low (Power/Mass) means either low power or high mass.

  • Fat as hell 1500kg look for McLaren F1

  • yeah this is the future

  • I was able to sit in a Porsche once or twice in my life so far.

  • "range of up to 25 kilometres"

    yep, amazing

  • @Josh1901 Come on, don't be that dumbass guy! This would be a 200 MPH supercar with 0-60 MPH in 3.2 seconds, which has ALSO got an electric motor ADD ON to operate as a zero-emission option. The actual range of the car is obviously far greater, since it also uses petrol.

That 25 km range is just for driving in the city. If you've ever driven in a town/city centre there is little chance you would ever do anything like 25 km in one day, so you can easily just recharge it when you get home.

  • @locomotosoto My scjool is more than 25km away, so is my Mum's work. Dad's work is about 10km there and 10km back...

Having the electric engine would just be pointless xD

If you bought this car you would probably only drive it on the weekends, and then you would use the petrol engine to make some noise.

Having an a supercar with a hybrid engine is stupid, this would be great if it was on... i dunno a small hatchback? That you would actually drive to work

  • @Josh1901 It's not pointless.. electric engine allows the v8 to refresh during traffic or slow speed conditions when the right amount of air is not flowing through the car plus it reduces average emissions so it could be a world class car allowed in any country which is one of porsche's goals

  • @absolutinspire Oh well I guess it has some benefits then :P

  • Why don't they remove those hideous plastic covers on the wheels?!!! I know they don't look too bad in this vid, but all the images are computer generated... In real life the plastic discs look shiite.

  • Thats wat u replaced the carrera gt with?!?!?!! The only reason y i gave 5 stars is bcause its a porsche

  • lol 1:50

With a range of up to 25 km.

    thats usefull to get groceries

  • @leroyelissen Well, yes, in fact, that would be all you need for getting around the town centre. Your point?? It's a perfectly smart idea and a great solution to inner city pollution. If they can pull this off, to make a combustion engine supercar AND an electric car in one, and in such a lightweight package, that would be an amazing feat, so you can just swallow back your 'lol' and give some awed props instead.

  • It's going to break the record for being the worlds most expensive car...

  • Comment removed

  • The guy in the video (mistakenly) says and I went bonkers after hearing 'with a very low power to weight ratio the Porsche 918.....'

How much more p2w ratio do you have dude...? :D

  • WOW! The best looking best performing Porsche to date.I was absolutely shocked the first time I saw it.

  • just amazing. it got to go into production and it will.

  • Wow!!!! I'll take this car over any other super car!!!

  • i love italians, but i recognize that this car make me fall in love again with porsche.. great design!

  • okay so they made basically Carrera gt, but to the next level in performance by making it a hybrid 2..... sorry makes no sense since only filthy rich people will be able to purchase this car, which gas price wont matter. Think they should of engineered a car to compete with the new Ferrari 599xx ...or maybe they knew they couldn't so they went the hybrid route lol

  • two words: car porn!

  • This is the greatest car ever made, if they do not produce this, I will sue them. Then when they do produce it, I will use money from said lawsuit to buy it. lol

  • that's one of the most beautiful cars i've seen.

  • its unbilevable how much power it has with the amount of fuel consumption and looks this car is a cold blooded killer

  • Comment removed

  • Porschecarreragtmay6 - You are talking about weight to power ratio. Landoflemon is correct. Power to weight ratios are usually smaller than 1 where weight to power are over 1. However, power to weight is a term used loosely when talking about cars.

  • WOW!!! I freaking love Porsche cars apart from boxters!!!

This is now my favourite sports car ever!!!

Keep up the good work Porsche this is one sexy car!!!

  • @landoflemon Incorrect. You want a low power to weight ratio. The average power to weight ration on a sedan 15+, an average supercars power to weight ration is around 5. The lower the better, so don't call people names like that, so in effect, you're a dumbass.

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 No you are incorrect. You want a high ratio. My example: Power to Weight = Power:Weight . Now lets say you have a 500bhp engine and the vehicle itself weighs 1000kg. the ratio is 500:1000 = 0.5

Same car but only a 200bhp engine, this time the ratio is 200:1000 therefore the ratio is 0.2. So its Lower. Which is slower.

The figures you are quoting are weight to power, not power to weight. So it's the inverse.

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 Also, Perhaps our differences lie in the fact you are American and I am European, and perhaps we just have different conventions for labelling what we consider to be high or low ratios. If you must just google power to weight ratio.results point out several times that having a high ratio is better. Also I've done 4 years of Mechanical engineering in University & I'm making Carbon Fibre panels for Bombardier to increase their jets power to weight ratio so Im not bullshitting

  • @porschecarreragtmay6

    Well, again, depends on what he's using to define power to weight;

The general accepted method in is Brake Horsepower per Ton (BHP/Ton) In this case obviously higher the better.

The other method you are referring to is Kilogram per Horsepower (Kg/BHP) Lower the better.

Reviewers should present the way of measure when making reference to this to prevent confusion.

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 Actually, he's right, for the wrong reasons. The sedan p/w ratio is 1hp to 20lbs really. and supercars is starting at 1hp to 8lbs. So mathematically 1/20 is lower, but it is obviously slower. It's really quite funny how we adopted such meanings, when in essense they are backwards :)

ps im not supporting him, this was a fucking badass video, just trying to be fair.

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 Correct. Just to give one more example: The F-15 Eagle as a power to weight ratio of 1.17:1 making possible vertical climbs and still accelerating through the climb. The lower the number the better it is...

  • In 2:04s 3 gays are performing

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 Actually no, while landoflemon didn't need to call anyone names, you are still wrong. The power to weight ratio is power divided by weight. You want this number to be high. Weight to power ratio is the inverse, which is what you were describing. The higher your power to weight ratio, the more unit power you have per unit weight. Simply check the Wikipedia article on "power-to-weight ratio" if you have any doubts.

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 why would porsche made a noob car? everything they put in 918 is the best!

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 You better read wikipedia. I don't call names, but I think landoflemon is right...

  • @landoflemon and we shall fill their buts with giant but plugs! (Numeri 56.45)

  • hahahah i like the microscopic soup-spoon side mirrors the best

i thought porsche usually mounted their engines over the front wheels instead of a mid mount

  • ...then there is the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, which is so fancy and cool, that we dont even have to translate it!

  • Comment removed

  • @hardnor Ha ha! Yeah, I noticed that too! Thanks for spelling it out, it enabled me to get it translated. it turns out it's a Double Clutch Transmission.

  • Porsche comes always with good idea´s, and it is good for environment, sporty and less co2 and more power.

  • this car is made it in europe, for europe. the streets of san francisco are terrible for this even the free way. ....

  • WOW!!!

  • When are you car companies gonna learn that hybrids are for economically- or environmentally sensitive people. Porsches are for rich people, who are neither. If they were environmentally sensitive in the first place they wouldn't spend $200,000 on a car that has seating for 1 passenger, runs on a V8, and god knows how much electricity this thing will consume.

But then again, who am I to say this car will fail.

  • Economically, this car will never pay for itself. These high performance car companies can't sell a hybrid supercar. If they wanted to, they would've done it decades ago. The reality is, there is no market for it. Rich people don't care about fuel economy when it comes to buying their supercars. If they're rich enough to afford a $200,000 Porsche, they're not going to buy one that's a plug in hybrid. You'll only see the odd celebrity trouncing in one of these to "make a statement".

  • i jizzed in my pants when i saw this

  • Chingoneria

    pero chingona

  • nice shape!!

    I love it!

  • I liked the statement: "The weight?less than 1490 kg"

    Talk about contradiction lol...

  • just gorgeous... I am inlove

  • that is the only Porsche that i think looks good since it dose´nt look like a 911

  • No, the 911 is beautiful, the Cayman does not look like the 911, nor does the Boxster, Cayenne, or Panamera. The 911 is a beautiful car. Porsche's policy isn't "Every car must look like a 911", it's "Strong shoulders, raised wings, and a sloped or roadster silhouette", THAT is the quality of all Porsches. Look at every Porsche, every Porsche ever made besides the 928, 944, 924, 968, and 935 and a few concepts don't fit this design DNA. Thank you.

  • im from sweden and i look at the big picture so i am blind to small details

  • @porschecarreragtmay6 N.B. Cars don't have "strong shoulders" they just have superior or inferior aerodynamics.

Let nature define the shape and it will be vastly more beautiful and sporty looking than any functionless styling gimmick.

  • pls stfu! stupid kiddy who has no idea of timeless art! stfu

  • i´m not japanese as i previously commented

  • who said your japanese?????

your comment is just bullshit...doesnt look like a 911. I still cant believe it! You get killed for saying that in Stuttgart

  • no i said that cause japanese see thing from detail and then like the object because of that detail

  • @peter9style

I don't think it has anything charicteristic of a 911 either.

The back end looks more like the 9ff GT9 and the front IS a Ferarri 360.

  • @thadude1337

I agree the 911 Carrera 4S and Carrera S and regular Carrera are ugly.

  • Got one in my Garage oO

  • Comment removed

  • When is the release date?

  • It's a concept car, so this will likely be the only one built. If it makes it into production, it'll probably be release in 2012/2013.

  • its probably the carrera gt sucessor (posibly the Porsche GT1)

  • @porschecarreragtmay6

so this is a """promotion video... nice one..... i just watched it....like a lil child that becomes his first playing car1:18 ......iam from germany and my english is not as well as other ones ...maybe!?!?!? but in this video ican understand and translate this spoken text as i would say this in german ""tvspot?!!?....ucan follow? ok...but this company to make this video, mmmhh didnt u know english word for "porsche-doppelkupplungsgetriebe"that sound so sick in this video

  • Simply AMAZING.

    Porsche "there's no substitute"!!!!!!

  • @tutibiri yes there is maybe a Lamborghini or um maybe an aston martin or hmm maybe ferrari.

  • @ShanieDog If you are looking for a showcase, you are free to go with the brands you mentioned.

    If you want a real "sports car" i mean "real" then we are talking about a Porsche. For that reason, once again;

Porsche "There's no substitute", and will never be........
