They're not meant just for work they love to be around their people....they are not a dog to be left in the backyard (but no dog really should be anyways) but people think they can get one and stick in the yard to protect the house, then wonder why it gets out and ends up at shelter. I love and miss my GSD! Nothing beats a GSD!

its supost to be a person thats what hes draggin out.most times its just sand bags made up to be a person so it has weight .in a close box like that they use sand bags would not be good if the dog grabbed you by your face and pulled you out .nice vid i have two working females .

I have 8 German Shepherds and i work them in Schutzhund Sport the kennel club does not recognize schutzhund titles or hip scoring not done by the BVA . I have had this breed all my life we have to work them to maintain inherited drive. Conformation showing is killing dogs. Check out my video Hitler vs Crufts on you tube. Great video thank goodness the Eastern block countries kept them as they were. God save the German Shepherd from the KC and SV.

I want a working line GSD but every says their still known for bad hips. Malinois and dutch shepards are too much attention for my liking, what's a man to do?

Had a couple of Shepherds in my lifetime, magnificant dogs. What the breeders are doing to todays shepherds is criminal. They will destroy the breed. Thank goodness there are those that are breeding working dogs and hopefully from these we can maintain the genetics. Why do humans have to play with nature.

Yes you are right, the breed has been going down in quality, for a number of years now. The SV has pretty much ruined V Stepanitz's vision.

I guess it's all to do with money, the SV the breeding into a huge business and look where things have ended up..... It's all in the hands of some "small" but responsible breeders to maintain the line of good dogs, I would say we're talking of a handful of such breeders.

GSDs are the best.... So are Pitbulls... :) I wish I had any one of them because I'd actually do stuff with it (like my cattle dog).
