@VoidedNote see the thing is, I think they plucked out the 27-year-old version of Laguna instead of the one in-tie with Squall's time. Which means that in this continuum, Laguna has no idea that his future son will grow up to be that surly dude he met in this other world.

So in Dissidia, Squall remembers Laguna from his dreams and thinks he's a blithering moron. Laguna is blissfully unaware.

Just imagine if they have memories of this back in the FF8 world. Gotta make for an awkward reunion.
