@backlinelover Though I severely dislike the COT as do you, I now have to disagree. I dont know if Elliott Sadler is alive today if it werent for the COT. That wreck at Pocono would have killed him 90% of the time. Ive never seen a single car wreck where the entire front of the car was sheared off, and it didnt even flip once.

He friggin walked away from that wreck. The COT was justified in spades that day. I think axing the wing has helped a lot.

I hate nascar for this. MARK MARTIN WON THE RACE. They have made racing suck for "safety" issues the past few years but they let guys at the back just plow threw the field. Thats bullshit, they screwed mark, mark won.

The Daytona 500 is the superbowl of stockcar racing. Being that close to the finish, I am glad tat they allowed Kevin and Mark to fight it out to the end. 2 great drivers competing for victory. It wouldn't have seemed to be a very full filling race if they had ended it 400 yards (less than 4 seconds) from the checkered flag. I am a fan of both drivers, and I am glad that Kevin won. No driver should have victory taken away from them, especially when they had a legitimate shot at winning.

The only difference between the 500 and the Super Bowl is that the Super Bowl decides the season champion. The Daytona 500 kicks the season off with a blast and a preview(?) of what you could see during the season.

I think Mark Martin himself said that he would not have like to have won the race under caution, he said if he wanted to win, he wanted to win under green. I am a fan of Harvick, but I would have been equally glad to have seen Mark win. This was a great race worthy of the books.

people say this is the greatest daytona 500. fuck no not even close just because of a photo finish. i believe that there is 3 great daytona 500's. earnhardt sr. finally winning the 500 in 1998. the 1979 daytona 500 with the fight of allison and yarbough. believe it or not, the 2002 daytona 500, big one that jeff gordon started, the restart when gordon got spun by marlin. then on the red flag, sterling tried to pull the fender. the 2002 daytona 500 had alot of drama than the 2007 daytona 500.

yes you are correct, the 2002 daytona 500 had alot of drama with an hour and it was just cool how it ended. im hispanic and i been watching nascar since 1998. yes mu first race was when earnhardt sr. finally won the 500. ever since then, i love the sport and a course restrictor plate racing is my favorite type of racing.
