I for one have been in second life for over 2 years and I know that the majority of ppl there are grown up and consent to all actions done to them and from them. Also, LL has recently changed their regulation of areas in SL where all adult content is restricted. In order for an avatar to enter these areas they have to age verify their account, which takes putting in their SSN or other form of identity... I feel this keeps the majority of ppl that shouldnt be there out...
number one, to me it is sick that anyone would have this fantasy of raping children whether in real life or in second life. and number two, unlike many other crimes, sexual crimes arise from one's need to satisfy a physical urge. sex affects the brain much like drugs, each time the dose needs to be higher. those engaging in 2nd life child rape will need the experience to become more real as time goes on, and ultimately, many will end up hurting children in the real world.

i have to agree with the us law. i don't think there's necessarily crossover of people who are really pedophiles and people who find something like SL's wonderland entertaining (though there certainly could be), and until these people actually harm a child in real life, what they're doing should not be against the law. People find all types of roleplaying interesting (from ultra-violent to violently sexual) that gives no indication of what they're really inclined to do in RL.
