Also dude, please? any chance you can do a version of the song golden brown-stranglers? it would be SO good but know one has done it! pretty please? x
Hey Jason, Life On Mars brought me here ..superb atmosphere you created with this one, just right, love it. And a bass F# with the LH thumb on a Classical neck!!, you're more of a man than me lol :-)
@ironmonger100 Ha, hey Shaun, you know I could even wrap to the 5th string on that guitar, it's a narrow neck "crossover". These days I play on a full width 52mm neck - I can't grab the 5th but thumbing out F,F#,G I do as a matter of course...bad habits from my steel string days.
Interestingly my standard choice in F chord is 103211 thumb bass, index bar top two. It's often quicker and easier to change from other open chords than a barre version, but is still a full 6 string chord.
Oh wow, I was just about to try and arrange this song, thought I'd run up a search on Utube to see what the others attempts were like.... I feel now like I wont be able to even come close to to the sheer perfection that this is!
It's my first attempt at trying to arrange a song so I'm not expecting much anyway, have you got any advice by any chance? Would love some, lol.
Great video, inspiring 5*'s, or... thumbs up as it seems
@Kingpin0072001uk Thanks KPUK! I borrowed most of this from other arrangements I'd seen - that's the trick, don't re-invent the wheel! I sometimes write about arranging on my blog, follow the link on my channel to it.
Ha, yeah, snap :) We've gone down two separate paths though, which is the beauty of nylon stringers, well I guess "other types of guitars" as well. You can take the same thing, inject it with your own touch and have it quite different to anyone elses. I wish youtube was around when I was playing the guitar in my youth, who knows what may have happened with all the inspiration now to be found out there! ;)
Ha, well, it's instrumental fingerstyle, so there isn't meant to be any singing - that's what instrumental fingerstyle is all about all about - but more importantly I couldn't sing to save my life. Really. Yes, really. Nope, not even going to demonnstrate. Yes, really.
awesome, but I feel like buying you a new mic or guitar--so buzzy! keep your great songs coming, it's great to see a new one from you in the recent postings!
Day job has been consuming most of my time, any left over time is spent with the family, which leaves, well, nothing left for guitar... You've been laying low yourself - got a CD out or something? ;)
Hey JMD, yep, I think you'll like learning this one. Make the strumming your own, I didn't completely spell it out in the tab, left it up to the player ;)
I was a bit dissapointed with the sound, I realised the video capture software had mashed it (pops and encoding noise), but I'd done about 6 takes and had already packed up and headed inside (still doing performances in the shed, away from the family ;)) Oh well!
Had it a while now. Started off a nylon string player, I've gone full circle back to nylon. (The one with the pick guard is a steel string. Scratch on it - yeah, I dropped a pair of pliers on it once. Bah!)
Thanks - I think I get a bit heavy handed with the strum, it should just be a quiet rhythm to fill out the middle. Too many years playing steel string hard, I need to relax and get a bit more balance on the strum accents :)
no way im gonna learn this.. even tabs dont help
