Do you know if I can tune the keys like transpose?! a step or half step.. let's say I don't know how to play a song in e but I doplay in d can I adjust the keybed a step down or up.. transposing keys.. ??
@jomarcavalcanti you can indeed. You can either transpose the whole thing or transpose individual parts of a sound. you can transpose up to 24 semitones up and down. Thanks for the comment ;)
@auxili160 this is possible yes, however if you want a keyboard just to control a laptop softsynth I would recommend going for a midi controller as the wavestation is extremely heavy and very big. I have used the wavestation with my computer a few times with softwynths and it does the job nicely but you do need a midi to usb converter as the wavestation doesn't have usb. hope this answers your question, if there's anything else please just give me a shout :)
@kingofkeyboards Yes ive been looking for a good midi controller but they all (in the budget 300> range) seem to suck build-wise. I'm talking about the longrun durability, and gig dependability.
I can currently get a wavestation ex for 225$, meanwhile a 49-key m-audio crap keyboard with 49 keys (oxygen, no aftertouch) runs at around 150, and an aftertouch keyboard (axiom, nocturn, mpk, x-station) goes for around 250 - and that's only for 25 keys.
a nocturn/m-audio midi controller with 25-keys, and made of plastic.
the weight is really the only difference worth considering, as the wavestation is around 25 pounds, and normal plastic controllers are around 5-10 pounds at most
@kingofkeyboards well the wavestation I've been using hasn't had any operational problems at all and the previous owner says since it was built in 1992 it hasn't had any malfunctions apart from the light that brightens the screen going so it had to be replaced. Edirol do some very professional midi controllers. also you probably knew this but just to be safe, the brands you mentioned make reliable professional controllers with 25, 49, 61 and even 88 keys so reliability shouldn't be a problem :)
♫♪♫bonjour et merci pour le post ! une petite question : je possède le meme clavier à une exception près , c'est que le "EX" ne se trouve pas à droite mais en dessous du "WA" de wavestation ; comment cela se fait-il ? merci ! ♫♪♫♫♪
Great video! I have an old Korg i4S that sounds a lot like the wavestation. it came out in 94. I still have all the floppys and the VHS showing you how to program it. Unfortunitly my floppy drive is gone and I can't seem to find a replacement so no programming right now. I have a Korg Radias which also has a lot of these great sounds. Korg has the best digital synths!
hello thankyou for the comment :) very much appreciated! i actually had a look on the internet about these before i decided on the wavestation. i dont actually know exactly what made me go for this but yes like you said after checking out the sounds they do have a very similar sound engine. anyway i love your videos and hope to see more and more as time goes on. thankyou again. regards the king :)
Great vid! Haven't seen one of these synths in a long time. I think I was in highschool when this synth came out. I think this synth was out sometime between 90-94 (could be wrong). Didn't this synth without the expansion have something like 2mb's to the ROM..???
thanks :) yeah this synth came out in 90 and 91 then was discontinued. I think that your right about the 2mb's of rom but I'm not definitely sure. This one I got came with a little white PCM card or DATA card I'm not sure which but the sounds on it are breathtaking especially if you have a mess about with the joystick. I love this thing :)
is this keyboard touch sensitive?

49-key controllers that dont suck are 350-400ish

@auxili160 So basically, the question is:
a wavestation ex as a midi controller
or
a nocturn/m-audio midi controller with 25-keys, and made of plastic.
the weight is really the only difference worth considering, as the wavestation is around 25 pounds, and normal plastic controllers are around 5-10 pounds at most
but im worried about reliability

@auxili160
why would you want to use this synth for something stupid like that?
Just by a midi controller.
