Totally agree with RyanPridgeon about the reved up drums, also there needs to be more emphasise on the drop, it kinda just flows, just needs more omphh I like though :)
hey man, like the intro, really gives a nice effect up until around 1:38 when the hard snare comes in.
I myself like introductions, however im sure theres a LOT of people who cant wait long enough to listen for a minute and thirty eight seconds so they just down rate it. so maybe keep the intros to a minimum, or at least switch it up a bit.
DnB (as most dance music) , is supposed to be mix-friendly.
You need intros and outros to be able to beat match properly, and noone needs songs with disharmonies because the DJ doesn't have time to mix and match the two songs.
I think the hi-snare is working well at the beginning, in it's rhythmic role and dynamically, i.e. the tight transient and relative level in the drum mix. I would strongly encourage you to buy a descent set of effects, mixing, and mastering tools as well as any host sequencer, so you can improve the sound after creation. Believe me, it's well worth it when you experience the power of good plugs. Thanks for posting.
Just one approach: what you do is construct this basic beat, then use dr. rex to rearrange the triggering of the chopped pattern(which can be created easily in recycle)through midi note mapping. it goes 4/4, use 1/16 note quantization. kick on the 1 and 3/2(second 1/16th note after 3. Snares are on the 2&4. The "rolling snares" are at 2/4 & 3/1, but slightly swung, swung as well are the high-hats at 3 and 3/2. kick hpassed at 60hz.
Use high/lowpass filters to keep unnecessary frequencies from clashing. keeping the drums on their own channels will allow you to craft the sound with filters and effects appropriately for their role in the song. Listen carefully and have fun! hope this helps.
it sounds nice but like liquid drum n bass, still good though you can get your beats more punchy if you layer them and roll the bass out the bassdrum and high up the kickdrum to get all effect of a live drum man.
yo man, your beats are sick! may I ask what's the drum kits you use for your beats! and I also have some other questions, like how do you mix your kick with the bass and some times I use the maximizer on my track along with the EQ with out putting a Compressor, is this how you master your tracks or what! sorry if I bothered you with my questions but I just wanna learn others techniques ;)
Dude. How did you make those drums so good? Are there some techniques you used that could be of help to me? Did you just use recycle to splice up some of the beats in Reason? And what kind of effects did you have on those drums to make them sound so crisp? Especially at the 2:00 mark. Keep up the good work brotha.
and bass (this case drums) and I also use redrum to open rex samples picking out sounds i want and program in any way i fashion. I also use reverb alot...on everything :P i didnt use recycle at all.
this track is pretty sweet, but its not very loud, sounds really well made m8 :) dont get me wrong, i only just started to use reason 4,im struggerling abit, kewl track :D

Music should never apply to such shitty rules. Fuck the DJ.

Well said 1lilnigga
myrtorp 3 years ago
well.. d&b is dance music, it should apply those rules.
minsoochoe 3 years ago
No. If artist stuck to rules and formulas there would not even be Jungle/DNB.
A DJ with talent can mix anything with anything. No need for formulas unless your making tracks for a noob DJ.
