  • Curious about using the arcade stick with standard games, is the stick itself mapped to the Left Analog Stick or is it mapped to the D-Pad?

  • would this work for mvc3

  • holy shit tha fucking thing is biger than the xbox

  • and these kinds of controllers are that good for these fighting games?

  • is this any good for mk9?

  • @atmajaybro yes it will work with any fighting games

  • I just got Mortal Kombat 9 (released 2011) and I've been looking for a controller other than the regular xbox controller. There's an official mortal kombat fighting stick for $120, but that's just too much. Would this fighting stick work just as well for this game?

  • @dmkchamp I recently did a review for mortal kombat on my lotsofgamesreviewed channel. At the end of the review I do some gameplay footage with this fight stick and another fight stick. But to answer your question yes it works well for MK9

  • @dmkchamp look on gamestop they got a cheaper one

  • Would this fight stick be any good for Mortal Kombat 2011? (a.k.a. Mortal Kombat 9)

  • @RedShogun13 exactly what i'm wondering.

  • would this b good for mvc 3 ?

  • i lold at the noise the camera made when the video ended

  • there r lot shmup game release on the xb360....

do u think this stick is great for this type of game....?

  • @shinkuu91 I am a huge fan of shmups and this stick works great when playing them. I have used the arcade stick for Raiden IV, Ikaruga, and recently Deathsmiles. I actually prefer playing shmups with the arcade controller.

  • @lotsofgames same here because im not using this stick to play fighting games(im suck at fighting games).......if u say so,.....i get this stick to play espgaluda 2 and deathsmiles 2-x (next dodonpachi daifukkatsu).....thx.....

  • @lotsofgames OMG, that makes me quite happy(shmups working with this stick). I just ordered it the stick, and I'm even more excited for it now.

  • that EX2 look like a toy i woudent get xbox360 i would get ps3

  • I ordered a madcatz TE today ^_^

  • The god awful joystick should not be used with tekken 6.

  • whats the black button does!

  • BUST A NUT.

  • will this one work for tekkan 6 ? even though it only has 6 buttons ive seen others with 8 so which one do i need ????

  • @NotEntertaining Yes it does. I use it for tekkin 6 and it's great. This DOES have 8 buttons, but RB and LB are near the start buttons. peep my review if u need a demo. (not plugging, just saying)

  • This thing SUCKS. Get the TE

  • @Keysta7 why?

  • Thats some meaty-arse clicky stick! lol proper arcade and not as expensive as mad catz :P

  • Why the videos you showing us are in private?

  • Does this controller work for PC?

  • @gunther72 yes the hori ex 2 works with xp sp2 and higher

  • Dude, from just looking at it you can tell if it'll work for whatever game. If yo guys use your eyes, you'll see that there's no (R) Stick, and there is no LB or LT. Process of elimination from here on. What games require those missing buttons? Figure it out. 99% of all fighting games let you change button maps, so don't be afraid.

  • Can it work with SSF4??

  • @s055623 it does work with ssf4

  • im new too this and want to buy a stick for super street fighter 4.. the clicking sound like a good way to learn.. i saw some official street fighter stick and it has 8 press, this only have 6 press.. do i need the extra 2 press? and im a beginner.

  • @xrikimarux dont know if you already got an answer but the 2 extra buttons can be mapped for diff things such as throw or focus but all of this can be done with 6 buttons.

  • will it work with tekken

  • I think so.

  • this is a really good fighting stick, the only thing is that (with me at least) the buttons will give out on you eventually after playing with it for long enough. doesn't seem like a big deal until you try replacing the buttons - - - TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS. you have 2 go through quite a bit of soldering just to get to the buttons. the joystick's great though, i really love the joystick! i would recommend getting the Madcatz SE SF4 Fightstick, SO easy to replace the buttons and joystick.

  • @fuzzcentralage The buttons are just starting to give out on me. I wish I did research into part replacement before I bought the stick. It is a very good starting stick though. Now to get a custom stick made with quick swap parts.

  • @fuzzcentralage how long have u had it for

  • can you tekken 6 on these??

  • yes, but you would probably want to flip the controls around a bit

  • I play a lot of fighting games but I do play a LOT of arcade games.

  • Cool, I can play driving games on it... Not that I would want to

    But I can

  • I bought 2 Hori EX2 sticks. Each has a button that stopped working. Waste of money.

  • @RDBlade i keep hearing that

  • i bought it for tekken 6. the buttons are kinda in weird spots for tekken but all u gotta do is just remap it and its amazing.

  • HOW much u get it for, i get frustrated playing teken 6 with the xbox controller..

  • i got one brand new for 30 but i brought it back and got a HRAP. its good an all for the price but hrap just rapes any arcade controller out there.

  • i hear you man fuck the controller im getting this EX2 fighing stick

  • me 2 man

  • I think you should have got the Tekken 6 special edition bundle. It's the same stick, and it's wireless.

  • I want to get it wireless for my PC

  • is this better or street fighter 4 fight stick ??

  • NOOOOOO NOOOO NOOOO. No way near.

  • I got the Soul Calibur IV edition Hori stick, completely amazing, I CAN ACTUALLY USE AKIRA! :) only problem is, is that it's a square movement stick which creates problems when knowing which direction your moving, still have problem with bottom rights and left, but still that might just be me and this is a great amazing good quality fight stick! I reccomend it to anyone.

  • I want that for MvC2 and SF4

  • Check out the new Tournament Edition stick with Mahvel art + buttons, it's sick!

  • Thanks i think i will order one it looks awesome!

  • @HappyHedgeHog21 Then wouldn't that make. MvC3 :3?

  • where did you get thi??? can you play mvsc2 on this?

  • i need one of these for VF5, I have trouble doing the bottom right and bottom lefts etc. with the D-Pad on the 360 controller, the analog stick doesn't seem to work or takes a good 10 tries by that time you're fucked, these look sick too so yeah, good review, 5 star and a phr33 sub.

  • is it compatible for the pc?

  • Yes cause is for XBOX360

  • can u use that 4 soul calibur 4?

  • Yes you can. It will work well with SC IV. In fact Hori had a special edition SC IV fight stick that was just like this one.

  • Yes you can use it for for Soul Calibur IV, they actually made an Soul calibur IV decal version of this stick. Hope that helped.

  • lol

  • which arcade stick would guys recommend for games like Soul Calibur IV,Blazblue and Street Fighter IV? because the d-pad rly pisses me off and i wanna enjoy my fighting games to the max ^_^

  • Anyone know if these sticks are region-locked?

  • It's not. A controller can't be region locked.

  • Thanks a lot mate

  • No trouble at all man! :)

  • how much???

  • note all stick controls dot have RS

  • does this work on every fighting game? like Soul Calibur 4, BlazBlue, Street Fighter 4, etc.?

  • yup

  • haha ty

  • That said, I also tried out the Mad Catz FightPad (It's not a stick, it's a gamepad)

And so far it seems like this I might be keeping. Maybe.

Better control than a standard XBox controller.

But I find it kinda makes your thumb go a bit numb.

Also I ended up using canola oil, to maintain "slipperyness" on the Dpad.

    _

Yeah, I had fun today testing shit out ;D

  • Looks like I'll be keeping the Hori EX2.

However I plan on installing an Octagonal gate, from lizardlickDOTcom

(Also bought a circle gate, just because)

Definantly returning the Mad Catz SF4 Stick though.

The keys don't have enough rebound for me. And the layout is slightly different. (Not to mention it's 25$ more expensive)

  • why man just be a master at square.

  • Well that said, looks like I WON'T be keeping the Hori EX2. But I already ordered the octagon gate.

Modding a Hori EX2 with an octagon gate would have been easy, but apparently the joystick itself isn't that good compared to the SF4 Fighting Sticks. (& hard to mod)

I'll probably just wait until I can justify the $150 for a SF4 TE stick.

    _

But anyways, Square gate doesn't benefit you if you've never played a fighter game on a stick.

Meantime I'll just be using the $40 SF4 FightPad.

  • they have some others coming out now too that arent SF edition from hori with sanwa parts (like everyon e seems to want) i have an offbrand but has xbox pcb in it and i do all my supers everything combos just fine it was 65 usd i use it on pc SF

  • Well yeah, that'd be the EX3 HRAP

    Catch being that that's 125$

  • acualy i meant madcatz (unfortunatly) but they have fixed all the probs i think. they have the EXACT SAME jystic coming out as the TE but its blank and just mad catzz and cheaper (cause its not sf special edition IE: a peice of paper nside that has an sf picture lol

  • re: phatboi714

It's pretty well recommended for BlazBlue

Currently I'm wondering if I should get this, or a SF FightPad

  • ohh, i see. thx.

  • Well that said, I just went through the endevor of trying ALL of them out.

Got the Hori EX2, the Mad Catz Fighting Stick SE.

    Probably gonna return them both.

One thing I'm finding is that I can't get use to "square gates".

Basically you have to do circular attacks without hitting the corners. Since the "restrictor plate" is a square, not an octagon, or a circle.

Might still consider the EX2 though since it's cheap, and I might be able to manually swap in a new octagon restrictor plate.

  • re: phatboi174

    Well I returned it ;D

Looks like I'm gonna stick with the FightPad for a while.

  • why, does it suck :O

  • Well from what I'm told, it's not that great on diagonals.

And there's quite a bit of pressure just to move the joystick at all. So it's not really that smooth.

ALSO, I've never used a stick for a fighter game before trying it. (Returned it today)

Anyways, I can take down level 30 players with the FightPad on BlazBlue. So for now, that's what I'm gonna use.

However if I wanted to get a Stick, I'd probably shell out $150 for the SF4 Tournament Edition.

  • thats why most people mod it.

  • Yeah, but modding it with Sanwa parts involves power tools which I don't own. That and a lot of annoying electrical soldering.

And in the end, you get a product which wears out quicker.

I ended up just grabbing the SF4 TE Stick. But I'm still waiting for the Sanwa GT-Y in the mail.

  • are you gay?

  • thats dope but the tekken fight stcik will be doper

  • fihgting games r my favorite kind of games but virtrua fighter 5 was just gay it was a fucken rip off

  • Can you plug this in to PC?

  • Yes

  • Does anyone know where I can get this stick in Ontario, Canada?

  • Yup my Madcatz is holding up good up to now :)

If something happens it is really easy to mod into a Sanwa Beast even better than the T.E one :)

  • I want this cause it looks so much easier then a controller. Can you use it for Mortal Kombat also?

  • does the joystick twist?

  • Yes

  • I got the Mad catz a couple of days ago and so far i am satisfied it is as good as i expected.

  • Does it work well now?

  • Are these Good or is the mad catz that is around the same price or a bit more expensive Better ?

I like the Button layout on this but i am talking about the joystick with its Square box .

    Thanks

  • Ive heard Madcatz is pretty poor quality

  • u got a used one

  • is this a turbo controller? LIke if you hold down the A button, does it hit it continuously?

  • is hori better than the official madcatz capcom street fighter iv licenced sticks?

  • nope.. not at all.

  • Hori is way better. The Hori EX series is ok but not better than the madcatz.Though There HRAP(Hori Real Arcade Pro)products are by far the best sticks around.

  • yes it is. yao, unless modded this is definately better

  • r there a lot of players online at vietua fighter 5

  • whats better the joy pad or the horri ?

  • how much is the hori fight stick if its too expensive wat is the cheapest fight stick

  • mine just died, it no longer powers up :(

  • They say that the PCB is quite shitty look for videos explaining how to turn a 360 controller into an arcade stick...

    (once arcade buttons become available:)

    or

just use the standard hori buttons for now.

  • can u use this for custom boosting in halo 3?

  • they really got to make the joysticks wireless, wired is outdated nowadays

  • no not really,i tested out the fightpad and its fine,no button lag

  • Why show an unboxing of this stick? It's the cheapest hori stick out there. It's decent and does the job but nothing to write home about. I have 3 of these and a modded HRAP and they really don't come anywhere close to the HRAPs.

  • ill buy a hori from you

  • i shoulda got this when i saw it for 50$

  • Comment removed

  • GOT MINE TODAY for $65 woot!

  • WHERE!!!!

  • Craig's_list!

1st time I dealt with them.

  • thanks

  • check my message for more details!

  • does this work for pc? because i am waiting for street fighter 4 to come out and this would be great to use when playing street fighter 4 on the pc.

  • sf4 isnt comming for pc mate

  • yes it is.

  • they cancelled it mate

  • street fighter 4 is coming out on pc.

    release in summer 2009

  • one question: JOYSTICK: is it octagonal (teh diagonals are blunt like many cheap controllers) or is it smooth? (smooth circle)

i really wanna get a fight stick cuz im sick and tired of playing SF4 on a damned 360 controller.

  • exactly why im here, i saw the one made by madcatz for sf4 but its 150 bucks and im not dishin that out for one game..umm theres fighting pads for sf4 that look like they would input correctly and are cheap but its not a joystick

  • I bought this and they next day the X button stopped working correctly. Cant return it so anyone know how to get one of these repaired?

  • where can i buy fightsticks

  • You would most likely find them online, although, for this particular stick, its mostly sold out. A lot of the 360 sticks are sold out for that matter.

  • CANT YOU BUY THE PS3 ONES AS THEY ARE USB

    whoops caps

  • reminds me of street fighter.

  • Do you think this arcade stick fits with Lumines ?

  • i got the soul calibur version and thinking of getting another 1 J&R sells the stick Ny ^^

  • ill but it from you

  • hi dude!!!

    congrats, this joystick looks awesome!!

I'm so looking into bying one, but unfortunately I'm a fucking brazilian :( I couldn't find it for sale yet...

but I would like to ask you if it works on PC, where I play my favorite fighting games!

    Thanks !!!

  • Sorry to hear about your situation. Have you heard about the new Street Fighter IV arcade sticks that Mad Catz is releasing? Maybe those will work for you.

  • I would suggest waiting for some reviews to go up on those fighting controllers due to Mat Catz history of cheap products that break easy and rarely ever work past 1 year let alone 1 month.

  • I have this stick, it's awesome.

What are someone's reccomended settings for VF5? So far this thing is the best for Soul Calibur and DOA 4, but feels awkward on that (and SFII Turbo fighting)

  • Ordered mine today! Can't wait to get it!!!

  • Congrats!!

  • ive never owned a hori before and im planing to get one soon and i was curious to know what are the turbo buttons for?

  • They will give you rapid fire (or punching) by holding onto the desired button. If you want a particular button (a,b,x, ect) to be "fully automatic" just use the turbo button to make this happen.

  • do you plan on buying the street fighter 4 hoystick as well there are two of them

  • if your a sf fan this stick is hard to super with unless your good with square gates, so i modded mines and i just put in a sanwa gt y restrictor which enables you to play 8 way easy supers and cheap and easy to install!

  • Hey Krazz, I have a question. I am planning on buying a HRAP3, I am pretty sure it has a square gate. Where can I buy a octagon gate online? Thanks.

  • that things hue

  • oh shit it clicks, like the blackberry storm

  • thanks 4 d review

i was just about 2 buy it when i noticed d clicking noise

wow it saved me money and i went for a new 1 !!( without noise)

    thanks ^ ^

  • May I ask what is the new one you went for instead ?

  • i loved this stick...i own it

  • Yeah Amazon is where I got mine and its on its way. It should be here Wednesday, just in time for HD Remix. Although I've been wondering if Amazon was the best place, any of you know any better places?...

  • That is a good question. As far as I know Amazon is the best place for the ex2. I am also looking forward to the HD Remix. The game looks really good in 1080p.

  • how much did u get ur hori sticks cuz i got a street fighter aniversary collection for xbox 360 so yeah

  • i just buy one on gamestop for 49.99 a come like 54 and some cents with tax , i tryit on my pc but my kawaks do not reconice it or my mame i think i need a bio or something cuz the pc sontrol panel controller a says is working perfect

  • yep the same problem for me.. if someone can help plz thanks ;)

  • yeah is a software and a can make it work google is your friend buddy

  • joytokey. like akumario said, google it.

  • download joytokey.

  • is it compatible with a pc?

because i use my wired xbox 360 controller to play Marvel vs Capcom on my laptop and i was hoping that the fighting stick would work on my pc

  • yea im sure it is, one of my mates had 1 and used it on his pc for playing emulators.

  • yes it is you have to download the program on microsoft

  • i love arcade. i've only been to a big one once. and it was amazing. they didnt have classics, but they had street fighter third strike, and i pwned at it. and a sweet arcade light gun shooter with an orange plastic shotgun. badass. the arcade was all dark, bright, and loud.

  • it cant be dark and bright at the same time

  • yes it can! go to an arcade. or in a helicopter over any metropolitan city at a few thousand feet or something.
