I look for weak ass sales people whom I can easily read and not those who are more confident, if I can not read, or push one I walk out in minutes from any type of sale.. Glad that you added Mehrabian's caveat about the 7% content / 38% tone / 55% body language statistics. Those figures are only for highly emotional interactions usually involving two people; e.g., the husband who asks his wife if he can go drinking with his buddies - she crosses her arms, looks away and says, in a gruff tone, "Fine!" Is she fine with it? Of course not. As for other situations, your words are crucial. Try giving your next business presentation with only body language. Good luck!

Ok, so in regards to the police example with the crazy dancing guy; I honestly believe the cop understood the danger from the jump. He stays close to his car, talks in calm but firm voice, slowly decreasing length of sentences as he increases volume. But with situations like this, does identifying really help? @CharlesNauck but don't forget, body language is a sort of social science, so as with all sciences it is based on hypothesis and observations. we can try to predict all we want but until you see and compare it to the real thing then you can make proper conclusions about what some actions mean.

Glad that you added Mehrabian's caveat about the 7% content / 38% tone / 55% body language statistics. Those figures are only for highly emotional interactions usually involving two people; e.g., the husband who asks his wife if he can go drinking with his buddies - she crosses her arms, looks away and says, in a gruff tone, "Fine!" Is she fine with it? Of course not. As for other situations, your words are crucial. Try giving your next business presentation with only body language. Good luck!

the way to correctly invent the software would be to have the person display those reactions from the real feeling of those emotions, not the lie of the unqualified persons perception...

I challenge the so called experts to analyse any one of Putin's or Obama's latest speeches and put their analysis on record, He's lying.... he's covering something... etc, etc. It'll take some time but truth will come out and then we can see how accurate the so called experts were. Ok, so in regards to the police example with the crazy dancing guy; I honestly believe the cop understood the danger from the jump. He stays close to his car, talks in calm but firm voice, slowly decreasing length of sentences as he increases volume. But with situations like this, does identifying really help? How was he supposed to act AFTER he identified the threat. Thats the part he didnt know. (and the part I dont know either lol)

@CharlesNauck but don't forget, body language is a sort of social science, so as with all sciences it is based on hypothesis and observations. we can try to predict all we want but until you see and compare it to the real thing then you can make proper conclusions about what some actions mean.

Ive been studying body language for 6 years now and this is a cool documentary but it should be said this whole documentary just gives little examples on how things work and nothing is in depth so don't go around trying to "read" people just from watching this video. You cant really read peoples body language from 1 incongruent behavior/cue
