had to slap a noob who said this was about him getting HIV, pointed out 1975, slaped them again, and told them what it was actually about, noobs are stupid
@CPrincessC i do agree but the truth of the matter is that freddie was the prototypical frontman and it was the rest of tlhe band that made the complete package. if i may say it Brian May is the most underrated guitarist, composer and singer in the history of Rock!!
@ispinimor So true. When you listen to "Good Company" and know that the whole Jazz Band in the background was Brian on the guitar, it is just astounding. He has an amazing talent and I am honored that I had the privilege to have worked with him 2 time even in a minor capacity. Then, you know that he continued his education to get his PHD in astro-physics, my respect for him goes even higher.
this was made about queens first manager. he had taken money from the band. and basically are expressing what they think of him in 'Death on Two Legs'
actually norman sheffield is writing a book about his experiences with Queen, including the failed lawsuit because he thought the song was about him. JR though wanted a more personal relationship with FM. Hence the song. Commas, people, commas!
the song is about John Reid - once Elton John's manager. He tried to rip Queen off and the resulting litigation nearly put paid to the band. Hence the song - which is brilliant anyway!
I thought something like that back in 1987 when with narrow minded cronies would become #You were involved in the football fan violence in the world cup#. Another verse is #the sewer rat decaying in a shit tank#. Quite interesting, mind.
It makes good fun to make slight alterations with some of the lyrics e.g. "With narrow minded cronies" would become "You were involved in the football fan violence in the world cup" and a sewer rat decaying in a "cesspool of pride" would become the "shit tank".
AWESOME, Queen RULEZ!!!! umm.....is it just me or the lyrics,.....do they refer to the NWO conspiracy or am i just associating the lyrics with politicians and banksters?!!=P
um this song was known as Freddie Mercury hate letter to Queens ex manager and then they got sued cause his name was in the title ("dedicated to...") so then they changed it to dedicated to "a real motherfucker of a gentleman." you can search it up on wikipedia it'll say about exactly that.
I became interested in Queen right around when Freddie dies. My first CD, was ANATO, and so I put it playing...OMFG!! The very first song was such a hard-rocking anthem, I loved it!
he hadnt had any bf's at this point... and this song was written concerning two brothers that managed them and bought rolls royces off profit n refused to give the band their share
He had a girlfriend at the time, Mary Austin, who remained as his best friend until his death...
This is against Norman Sheffield who just had them as his slaves... they didn't get much money and worked on studio in the others' intervals... then came a case in court (which Queen lost) and they signed a contract with other guys... then came Boh Rhap, recorded in 6 studios...
It's all in the documentaries... ANATO dvd and Freddie's Millions have it all...
ur an idiot no fuck u no george bush not with queen no ur a fucking an idiot go die , fuck you, ok just og fuck yourself go hang yourself fuck you fuck you a big FUCK YOU
When you say "gotta love May's guitar" in this, you mean got to love Freddy Mercury's piano which was adapted to the guitar. I do agree though...the 'solo' at 1:00 is my favorite guitar solo ever.
Rocky Horror(that´s gonna be the name for the next Rocky movie!). What you said it´s not totally correct. It wasn´t really "dedicated" to Trident Studios. It was "dedicated" to one of the studio executives, Norman Sheffield(the other was his brother Barry). Wish You Peace! :)
and it's not only about that they couldn't do what they want, it was also about that they didn't get paid for all the work, they did get paid but not as much as they should.
The song is dedicated to Jack Nelson, one of Queen's first managers when they had a deal with Trident. Nelson according to Freddie, stole a lot money from Queen, and then fleed to the United States leaving the band with a lot of debts. On the Live Killers video you can hear Freddie saying; -"This song is dedicated to a motherf@cker of a gentleman".
I have Live Killers and I know what your talking about. "This is about a 'beeb beeb beeb'. We call him Death on Two Legs!" I always wondered what they were bleeping out.
This song is "dedicated" to Norman Sheffield, an early Queen manager who locked them into a slave like contract where they saw almost nothing in terms of royalties and artistic freedom. Freddie says that he was a "real motherf*u**er" of a gentleman
i would've liked to see freddie get in a fight. it would've been sweet watching him beat up somebody. i wouldn't say he was real buff, but as a kid he took boxing lessons. i would soooo want to see him get rough
i read that this was freddie's hate letter to their previous manager, (er sumthin like that) Norman Sheffield. he was said to have abused his authority and mistreat them. in live versions he says, "this song is dedicated to a real mother!@#$er of a gentleman." but it was bleeped out on the album Live Killers. kinda funny he wrote a hate song bout him

What a fantastic guitarlick. However, it was created by Freddie on his piano, but seemed to work very well for May's guitar too.
