I though the show was "okay". I mean the only song that really stood out was "Raise Your Voice" and mixed with actually some great comedy moments made this a good show. But I think once is enough to see it.
How boring to hear these two ranting and raving! Who are they? If they were real critics instead of two bimbos that go to theatre, maybe I would care more.
I think the creative team have dumbed down the show somewhat from the Pre-Broadway Try-Outs in Atlanta and overseas. Whether this was in cooperation with Disney Theatricals to be able pull more money from them as a producer (which would entitle them to some creative input), I don't know, but it seems likely that this is the case. [Disney originally signed on to be a silent partner on this project; Not that the show is billed as a "Disney musical"] Nice review! Very fair analysis. Cheers!
You've got the creative team wrong. Sound Designer Mick Potter only did London, and Nick Skilbeck was the London Musical Director. I don't get your Billy Elliot comment either. Billy Elliot is a movie-stage transfer too, so what's your point?! Or have I just not understood?!
@95wadders Thanks, we fixed the creative team! Emily was just pointing out that people complain about movies being turned into musicals all the time, but sometimes (as with Billy Elliot), nobody seems to mind.
