DirecTV told me the installer would be there between 8 and noon. So he shows up at 11.............p.m.! As if that wasn't bad enough, they also denied me the monetary compensation I was owed due to the on-time guarantee.
considering an installation costs $49.95, and the door that "won't move" is an easy fix, you're still not losing money, assuming you have the protection plan or free installation for being a new customer

I am a DirecTV tech that works directly for DirecTV, I am a class A top tech. There is alot of shoty installers out there but recently DirecTV has been comming down very hard on them. In just a few months they have filtered out 100's of bad installers. Also DTV no longer charges for custom labor, We wall fish from attics and crawls between walls all the time now. It is to bad you did not get me, my installs are almost like they were pre-wired into your house allready (the right way that is).
how else u gonna get that wiring in there imma comcast tech but i always ask the customer if wat im gonna do is ok lol im sure that tech did too then u changed ur mind afterwards lol its cool if u didnt like it that way dont sign the work order i will try another way if the customer requests it but with direct tv theres custom install fees usually none existant with cable companies unless its really insane extensive wallfishing or rewires then u get charged

i think that you are a very stupid person because like the other guy says above, if you wanted a custom installation you would have to pay extra which i dont think you would be willing to pay and second why the fuck did you sign the god damn paper thats says that the installation was satisfactory!!!
1st off I will bet anything that the Installer made who was there for the install aware that they couldnt install the system the way you wanted due to a few reasons, 1-The installer had to wall fish, which is a custom charge that you didnt want to pay.2-The house had Co-axle cable, not RG-6, so you didnt want drilling done and 3rd and most important- You signed paperwork stating the install was done correctly & to your satisification, it's common sense that if your not happy then you dont sign.
You would'nt go out and buy a car or cell phone and sign your name to a lease/contract if you that it was "Fucked Up" would you, so I've got an idea for whomever agreed to the install, before you go blamming someone else, blame yourself for being dumb enough for signing paperwork stating you were satisified and the work was to your satisifaction. If you didnt review the work before you signed that is nobody elses fault but your own, inwhich a tech would be resent as a mulligan on your behalf.

I HATE DISH NETWORK!!!! The tech took OVER 8 HOURS to install the dish, he damaged my roof, and now I'm still fighting with them to come out and remove all the cables and their dish, so my roofer can repair the damage they did. They had agreed to pay, but now they've disappeared. How convenient.

yeah, dtv rep here dude. first, tech cannot drill anywhere in a home w/out homeowners permission (your mistake); secondly, after an installation is complete, the customer(you) has to sign off on a piece of paper called the work order, approving of the install, your mistake again. NOW as for the dish rep below, dtv pays dish network to stay in business due to without it would be a monopoly, against the constitution, dtv owns dishnetwork retard!

you should have paid custom labor charge and had the cable wall fished its not the techs fault that your girlfriend's house wasn't pre wired or was wired with rg-59. techs always do a site survey with the customer b-4 starting any install chances are your girlfriend told the tech that the way he was going to route the cable was fine if you were there at the time than it probably would have been installed diffrently but as a sup. for DTV i have to say that it looks like shit probably a new guy.

Now DirecTv does not do their installations in Most places. I know a company called Mastec is a 3rd part DTV hires to do installs, and they are horrid....
A year after I canceled Directv they sent me a bill stating my account had "recycled", then had the nerve to tell me I was 2 months behind payment! After contacting their billing dept. and supposedly clearing up the matter, they sent it to collections. As far as NFL ticket was concerned, they blacked out most games anyway. The pocket door doesn't even surprise me. The comment from blwnrat is typical of their service, but he's right. A wall fish IS better viewing and a better value.
The NFL and program providers black out games. To protect the networks that obtain rights 1st 2 broadcast, CBS, ESPN, etc. also to protect teams coverage, i.e. in case a game doesnt sell out. DTVm all cable and sat companys have to follow the guidelines set by the NFL.

just call directv tell a representative to add an escallation to the local hsp for damage claim and they will actually will help you with that or will give some kind of credit

I think the way the cable came in was fine and around the door way is better than lay on the ground to walk on. That is at best an oops we F*cked up. You cannot defend that. yeah, dtv rep here dude. first, tech cannot drill anywhere in a home w/out homeowners permission (your mistake); secondly, after an installation is complete, the customer(you) has to sign off on a piece of paper called the work order, approving of the install, your mistake again. NOW as for the dish rep below, dtv pays dish network to stay in business due to without it would be a monopoly, against the constitution, dtv owns dishnetwork retard!

you should have paid custom labor charge and had the cable wall fished its not the techs fault that your girlfriend's house wasn't pre wired or was wired with rg-59. techs always do a site survey with the customer b-4 starting any install chances are your girlfriend told the tech that the way he was going to route the cable was fine if you were there at the time than it probably would have been installed diffrently but as a sup. for DTV i have to say that it looks like shit probably a new guy.

I know one tech who didn't sign the work order and they docked him $100. Being new is like coming into this job blindfolded. they just tell us we make alot of money doing it, but when we get in, theres alot of detail to learn and its a pain in the ass.

This was an extremely shitty install job. Aside from drilling and wiring your pocket door open, there's:
a) insufficient staples (and the few that are there are probably the wrong type)
b) bend radii that exceed recommended specs
c) surface mounted, exposed wire, which is a good way to lower resale value/lose your deposit
d) no wall plate behind the tv. An LV-1 plate, 1 port coax plate and compression fitting cost ~$2 and take 10 minutes tops to install in drywall.

A year after I canceled Directv they sent me a bill stating my account had "recycled", then had the nerve to tell me I was 2 months behind payment! After contacting their billing dept. and supposedly clearing up the matter, they sent it to collections. As far as NFL ticket was concerned, they blacked out most games anyway. The pocket door doesn't even surprise me. The comment from blwnrat is typical of their service, but he's right. A wall fish IS better viewing and a better value.

The NFL and program providers black out games. To protect the networks that obtain rights 1st 2 broadcast, CBS, ESPN, etc. also to protect teams coverage, i.e. in case a game doesnt sell out. DTVm all cable and sat companys have to follow the guidelines set by the NFL.
