"Separation of Church and State" is nowhere in the Constitution. It says (paraphrasing) that no law should be made to recognize or establish a national church, like what they were getting away from in Europe. Folks were free to worship however they saw fit. Near as I can recall, the US has never had a religious war.

I don't have a problem with atheists; what I get tired of is radical crazies like Michael Newdow who want to undermine and eliminate anything that even mentions the name of God.
