I agree, you will get some haters but it all depends on how they do it. It's very easy to make it as true to the original as possible, that's all they need to do. Asking the community what they would like tweaking. All I say is get us involved, You can't get haters if you ask the people most likely to hate it for their opinion. We already know how the story goes.
Just do a Remake using this engine. It will sell more copy's than any new story you do. Everyone who owned FF VII will buy it just because they loved it. plus you have the sales of those who were too young to remember with us old gits saying how epic it was :)

They have to keep up with the competition, and yeah, I prefer the old series with turn based battles and the ATB gauge but you gotta give the game the benefit of the doubt. It gets releases tomorrow and when I play it I KNOW 100% sure it will be another epic fantasy story...

But every game has it's own story & nothing relate one to another !! so 7 has nothing to do with 8 same as for the others. when two games are related it comes like what we have now 13-2 . The games are considered the best RBG games for a long time .. I'm surprised that there are people still don't know about Final Fantasy !!

Already, I'm seeing people warm up somewhat to XIII, and will likely later treat it just as VIII is now - and VIII and IX each had negative reception by more obsessed fans)
In conclusion, FF4-10 are almost all solid, and we can largely agree with that. BUT, 10-2 til 13 are NOT, I repeat, NOT bad games. They have a change in development teams, demographic goals, etc, but they still have a lot of fun to be had, and still sell tons of copies, as well as push the envelope when it comes to whimsy, graphical power, and soundtracks.
I'll be getting XIII-2 because it fits all I want from the FF series currently. If you don't fell the same, that's totally cool too.
X-2 - Job system that I love (except the dresses part) and much more gameplay to explore, but abysmal storytelling.
XI - Online, so didn't touch it.
XII - Interesting tale, but storytelling missteps which bring the game down somewhat. Interesting take on gameplay that I'm both happy they used, but also happy they abandoned.
XIII - Huge push in visuals, music, epic feel, but sacrificed when it comes to depth of gameplay and world creation.

But I just don't understand those people who decide to live in the past and can't accept the modern FF games. FFXIII was a really good game, though sometimes boring and very linear, it was fun. And FFXIII-2 looks AMAZING! I played the demo and I just can't wait until it's released.

II - Haven't played.
III - Haven't played.
IV - Played til near the end. Good game, compelling RPG story for its age.
V - Played til final boss. Fun game. More barebones story but job system is neat.
VI - Played through multiple times. Amazing.
VII - Played half of. Didn't compell me, BUT I totally understand people loving it.
VIII - Played only some. Still feel the same as VII :)
IX - Played multiple times, totally love it.
X - Played multiple. Really like it, but issues.
