  • I'm still unclear; what is it (or who is it) Bennett Holiday offers up as a "2nd body" to the DOJ ...? He (and his superior Sidney Hewitt) meet with Leland Janus to announce the merger, but Holiday says there's just "one minor detail" ... who is it he and Jimmy Pope offer up?

    Phenomenol movie!!!

  • Great scene from what is (imho) a great film.

I like to think that after Clooney's character is killed at the end his mates track down and kill this fellow.

  • I like this film - it shows sad and bitter truth in our political life. George Clooney always showed one and the same typical acting but Finally he looked great and not monotonous. But I still think that he didn't deserve the Oscar - just because he showed nice serious acting (for the first time by the way) doesn't mean that they should give him the Oscar. Academics and critics are as corrupted as politicians. Sad, very sad but I still love this film very much

  • This -- watch?v=lthLeWJPqOU&list=QL -- is my favorite clip of the director talking about the real economics of war in the middle east.

Such an awesome clip. He is really lucky to have met the people he did in researching for Syriana.

    watch?v=lthLeWJPqOU&list=QL

  • clooney is genius!

  • blistering film

    love it

  • Compare this scene to the one where Whiting rips the Prince a new asshole. Here, Bob very coolly shows Whiting that there are depths that had not previously occurred to him. Clooney's character is relaxed, ordering coffee and even looking at the waitress and thanking her. The Bob character is clearly a professional killer.

  • why clooeny go back to beirut to meet prince nasir?

why musawi capture clooney instead of prince nasir? isnt musawi works with hezbolah and will be paid by clooney if he kidnapped prince nasir...

who was the person he meets at ikea parking lot scene? is he a member of CIA..

  • I love it how the pen pushes in Washington think they can intimidate Clooneys character. Not too bright.

  • One of the best scenes from this movie

  • great scene. classic.

  • Fucking best scene in a decade of movies.

  • I agree this film is a destined classic.

From the mention of liquid MDMA, expat George Clooney saying You don't speak Farsi, do you, you son of a goat? To the bearded George Clooney like a Scott with a beard being served a sandwich and French fries at an outdoor cafe in the Middle East.

The more you watch it, the more you like it.

Also an indictment from Matt Damon about how the oil-based economies are just a house of cards.

  • Funny enough that sandwich and fries scene does have a "classic" feel to it. There are many scenes like that in the movie. The torture scene, Clooney meeting with the double spy,Damon's "I just doubled your profit" and many more. Clooney pulled a Robert De Niro and got a deserved Oscar.

  • This is I think the best scene out of the movie. The best written scene and acted.

  • The first time I watched Syriana, it was this scene that I returned to and watched again. Such quiet menace, so masterfully acted.

  • Sorry for saying this, but if you think Syriana is one of the greatest films of all time, then you can´t have seen many films... xD great acing performances though.

  • true that

  • its an interesting film but not a great one. It poses some good questions but the various plot strands don't properly come together and the end result is a very cold experience. I think the most intersting aspect of the film, the CIA Bob Baer character played by george clooney is badly underplayed. He's the only real chracter of significant interest for the viewer and is seen far too little of.

  • Bob Barnes, not Bob Baer

  • I agree I would have prefered if the movie was mainly about Clooney's character.

  • Agree; I like Clooney's character here, and it was well played !

  • I haven't got anything better to do than give my opinion like you gave yours fine sir, get over yourself.

  • i didn't think george clooney was as great as they said he was, but he definetly made the torture scene look real

  • It was the transformation he went through to give a true representation of Robert Baers appearance. He did what Robert De Niro did in Raging Bull which played a big part in winning the Oscar. Plus the torture scene and the scene with Christopher Plummer were great. I will agree that it is not as powerful as Benicio Del Toro's performance in Traffic.

  • o hell yea thats one of my all time favorite performances and the movie itself is classic of it's time. there was just something about del toror's performance that in some ways u wished the movie stayed with him throught the movie, but every one else was good and i am happy soderbergh won an oscar for directing.

  • most underrated films ever

  • Word to that - any movie an oscar needs to be seen.

  • I'm sure you're an expert on the matter of drivel. Haven't you got anything better to do?

  • Just because you're ignorant doesn't make this film pretentious.

  • @violentmajority didn't see it that way. i thought it was excellent.

  • @violentmajority How is this film pretentious drivel? I'm interested to know what you think...

  • traffic is way better but this is really good!

  • Good film yes, in the greatest...not even close.

  • WOW! The CIA probably does things like this all the time.

  • this is a greatttt movie.

  • It's easily one of my top five.

  • this movie is not even remotely close to one of the great films of all time

  • Can hardly hear anything
