This movie was a total failure on so many levels, it made a mockery of the original by making no sense what ever.

The one thing that would have helped a little, just a little, was if the kid had been left out. I hate kids in movies like this, this kid was a distraction and totally unnecessary to the story. The robot, wow, did they miss the mark on the robot!

This version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to squeeze a few additional dollars from an already exhausted consumer base, I'm afraid. The only improvement on the original is that the actors are better looking. Unfortunately, that is not enough to sustain the film. This will not be going into my Netflix queue.

I am a big fan of the first movie. I was worried but I liked this one. I saw no problem with any of it. The ending was deflating but...these type of cliff hanging endings are typical of the movies they make now. Both were based on a short story from the first half of the 20th Century. They may have ended this way for a sequel of some sort...who knows or to let those watching decide for themselves what will happen. The whole premise of the movie IS a change of heart.
