you got the brushed version stock right? I just ordered the brushless upgraded version, i hope it flies ok. I have another nitroplanes jet, the F-117 which is brushless, but also severely underpowered, can't even do a loop, only rolls...
@earthling1984 : It bought brushed version and I converted it to brushless. Guanli and Nitroplanes use different motors in their brushless version than I did for my conversion. I used motors with Kv=4040, Nitorplanes use lower Kv. I recommend to read the thread on RCUniverse. Tons of useful information and experience from real people without marketing bs.
hahaha i bought the stock plane on raidentech and it works fine just like flybyrc said but with me it works great. its awsome for beginers. and i didnt have to do any upgrades it just doesnt fly 900miles per hour like a person like u would want
If you are talking about the brushed version good luck with fooling people. Stock 850mAh NiMh battery is hardly good enough for taxing the plane for minute or so. Replace it with 3S hot LiPo (but it is not "stock" any more, isn't it) and you may be able to take off an "float" on the edge of stall for one or two minutes before motors burn.
Your statement is very far away from all RC-ers who had real experience from the "brushed" stock plane.
RysiuMal-----all true- all a big lipo does to a brushed motor is melt it faster, the motor acts like a big resistor , taking volts and giving heat -not power- the industry is saving pieces of pennies, conning unwary newbies into buying such trash, with the idea "a sucker is born every day"" we dont care if the person walks away from the hobby, wondering why people like the hobby we got a bit of his money" -------cant believe these days that brushed motors are cheaper to make -
Will do with the replacement frame, both motors shot, what brushless should I use? Or should i start over with the RTF brushless $ 150.00 kit? Im only 100.00 in and havent been airborn yet. What do ya think. I'll still have extra servose/bats/horns and all that.
I bought the BRUSHED A-10 from Nitro 79.00, could not get it off the ground. Added a monster 3cell and blew both motors. BannanaHobby has the BRUSHLESS A-10 for about 150.00, all the difference in the world. Sorry Nitro, its just the way it is. DO NOT BUY BRUSHED MOTOR A-10, you will need to upgrade as this video shows. I atleast have spare parts now for my BannanaHobby BRUSHLESS A-10. Hope this helps
Okay, so I bought the brushless version of this A10 through banannahobby (which I've found out is the same company as nitroplanes) and it did fly stock out of the box. It does seem just a bit shy on power, but it did roll nicely and would loop from a shallow dive. Its a bit nose-heavy, but that can be corrected by adding some weight to the tail. One of the gear broke on me but 50-cents worth of music wire is enough to replace an entire set of gear, so no big deal.
It have been a lot of confusions about this plane, so please read this post very carefully!!! Lisarane3505 plane is talking about BRUSHLESS VERSION that Bananahobby is selling for 160 dollars, which is twice more expensive than Nitroplanes BRUSHED A-10.
Wow. Guess I am glad I watched the video and read the comments as it looks like the consensus is that the 'stock' plane; i.e. what you actually pay for - is not very good. The fact that one has to buy better motors coupled with the fact that I am looking for a good 'beginner plane' means that the advertisement ain't really accurate. Its NOT really a good beginner plane. Upside is that sometimes the internet actually helps. Thanks for all the comments, folks.
damn no wonder mine couldnt fly at all. not enough power and even the range is too small!!. i didnt work when the plane went about 110 feet away from me. how could that stock plane can ever fly. i saw this video before the description was updated thats y i bought it . poor me, didnt know about the upgrade parts that u did to make it fly :(
i recently purchased the f4u corsair from guanili (the company makes this model also) and it was so underpowered that it was hardly flyable as in it could not do much else other than go in a large oval or circle around you or else it would stall and not recover. a good buy would be a Brushless rtf or arf. brushed motors usually are only practical and efficient in beginner airplanes such as the supercub and easy star, otherwise they are 2 undrpwrd.
yeah i got this plane for a beginner and this plane sucks stock, unless its just me. ive watched all dave powers' vids all winter. now i got this plane and it is a waste of money stock. i cant get it to go ten feet without whipping out of control and smashing. ive crashed it 8 times and cannot get a flight longer than two seconds. can anyone help?
It's good that you disabled video embedding as a vendor was using this video to suggest that the stock plane would fly like this. It's also good that you specified the upgrades you did.
No offense, but you spent a lot of money on upgrades to fly ovals 50 feet in the air. Why not show us what the plane can do and what you can do with the sticks by flying inverted 2 feet off the deck right in front of the camera. How slow and low can it fly? How about diving into some high-speed low-altitude passes? Does it spin? I haven't seen much flying here.
Yeah, I had remorse immediately after posting that -- it was unfair. I appreciate your explanation. You also saved me from buying this plane, so thank you. I'm looking for something cheap yet fun to fly and it doesn't look like this is it. I was spoiled with some overpowered barn-door-control-surface profile aircraft in the past but don't want to deal with the mess of nitro any more. I'll keep looking. Good luck and blue skies...
I just bought this plane from Nitroplanes, the vendor using this video to pitch the plane. We'll see how it goes, but I expect to at least be tossing a LiPo in it to drive the motors a bit harder and give more flight time. This is my first plane, which I'm told is a bad thing if buying this plane, but we'll see. I ordered the $20 simulator setup from Nitroplanes as well, so I might have a chance. Next plane: RTF F-16 (we'll see).
The A-10 is not a F-15, its a slow attack plane, tank killer.
its not meant to hover, low inverted flight.
Fast dives.
The whole purpose to get a plane thath you like is the specs of the original and the characteristics of the plane. Not all of us think tweaking a Slow stick to do 90+ mph.
All the mods-upgrades I did we absolutely necessary in order to take off and land safe. Stock BRUSHED version (RTF that sells for 80 dollars now) DOES NOT FLY AT ALL. There are over 700 posts on RcUniverse in the thread called "Nitro Planes A-10 Warthog for 95 dollars" about this plane (it was for 95 dollars when the tread was started). It should be mandatory reading for everyone who wants to buy this plane. It should be advertised at a nice static display model that can be converted to RC.
I was surprised and quite mad, when I found that this video was used on NitroPlanes website without my knowledge and my permission. The video was used to mislead potential customers suggesting, that the stock plane upgraded only to LiPo batteries fly like that. IT IS NOT TRUE. I tested stock plane on 3sLiPo and it flies barely. If you want your A10 flying like this, expect to spend about 100 dollars in motors upgrade as stock brushed motors don't provide enough power. You are warned now ;-)
I have this exact same model, too. The only problem is (I don't know if it's my transmitter or my receiver) the transmitter stops working once the plane hits 50 feet or so. My transmitter is a Guanli Skysport 4. Would you happen to have any ideas as to what I could do? So far it sounds like the Guanli is just a very poor quality transmitter from forums I've read, but I don't know for sure. Any suggestions?
THE ugliest A-10 I ever had.. still fun to fly and weirdly cute

No offense taken but:
1. It's a foam, EDF - It will take spn, high speed passes or anything with G.
2. It supposed to fly like that - it is A-10, not Extra 300. ;-)
3. Overall the money spent was for fun, experimenting and making something of nothing.
4. I'm better builder than pilot, so don't expect me doing stunts with planes not designed for that.
5. The plane flew 3 minutes or so ( 1:40 edited for video).
6. To place this video in the context see the Guanli A-10 tread on RCUniverse.
