  • Dr. Emil Chynn is unprofessional and inappropriate. He seems to be a decent surgeon, but DON'T QUESTION HIM in any way or he'll become nasty and threaten to discharge you from his practice! He also yells at and demeans his staff in front of patients!

  • all of this is true i witnessed it first hand. He refused to refund a $6000 charge to my credit card after i cancelled the procedure the same day scheduled it. luckily my mastercard got my refund back. BUYER BEWARE

  • He doesn't appear to create an epithelial flap while performing lasek? I thought a flap was created? I've seen another lasek video where they actually created the flap and didn't completely remove it?

  • J Refract Surg. 2005 Sep-Oct;21(5):433-45.

CONCLUSIONS: The human comeal stroma typically heals after LASIK in a limited and incomplete fashion; this results in a weak, central and paracentral hypocellular primitive stromal scar that averages 2.4% as strong as normal comeal stroma.

Only 2.4% of the original corneal strength. Consider the fact that you will need your corneas for the rest of your life if you want to see. Is refractive surgery worth what it does to the eye?

  • This was a LASEK procedure, not LASIK.

  • I had that surgery with Dr. chynn in 2005. So far fine. mine was monovision because i was over 40. Good luck to the newcombers.

  • i know someone with 20/10,he sees dots alot b/c his eyes r so good lol

  • any dryness or complications? Is your vision better than it was when you wore glasses?

I may go to Dr. Chynn as well...

  • is there something holding that other eye open? the one he's not working on?

  • This is the second video I've seen of Dr. Chynn performing this surgery...and in both cases, it seems the epithelium flap is completely removed [as in PRK?] I was hoping to get Dr. Chynn to perform a lasek procedure where the flap is preserved and reapplied over the eye. Could you clarify what happened in your procedure? Perhaps the video is just not clear.

  • The entire epithelium is removed as far as I know. The flap procedure is LASEK, as opposed to LASIK. LASEK involves blades and flap of cornea, LASEK requires dissolution of epithelium and thus longer healing time til it grows back.

Go for a free consult--he'll explain it all. I know peeps who are very happy with both procedures.

  • dat looks mad nasty, did it hurt man O.O

  • sorry xD

did they put u on any drugs or laughing gas ?

  • @arifliakos, actually if the epithelium is not replaced it is PRK not LASEK

this video shows PRK not LASEK

  • Ari, How are your eyes? I'm going to have the Lasek done also, my corneas are just a little too thin for the lasik. So, let me know how you are doing after 4-5 days but luckily my Dr. does the lasek also. Thanks, Greg

  • Eyes are good so far...I got "monovision" so only one eye was corrected. My brain hasn't learned to completely give over to the dominant eye for distance but its getting better. Corrected eye seems 20/20 if not better.

  • how can I make a copy of this video

  • how do u keep ur eyes open for that long
