Polytheism: Cardinal, unforgiveable sin. Most of the Arabs, most of the world, actually, was Polytheistic (In the Islamic definition). So, other than Muhammad and his followers (Assuming they were already Islamic monotheists even before Allah granted Muhammad his words), no one had the ability to be saved, and anyone who even practices Polytheism once, is never going to be saved. Anyone see something wrong with that?

@zatoichiable God did not send Christ to be a mere guide. He recognized our inability to pay for our own sins, and sent Christ, the perfect sacrifice to die for our sins. If what Islam says is true, then if a person has been part of any religion other than Islam at one point in their life, they cannot be saved and should be killed as the Qur'an preaches in (2:191-193), (8:12) , and many other verses. Compare with the Bible that talks of loving your enemy, and turning the other cheek. God bless!

And you can't judge a religion on its people, you judge it by its doctrines. If all the Christians in my neighbourhood bowed down to a giant statue of a dragon or something, I wouldn't judge them, I'd go and see what their book says to verify. And the Christians in those wars were fighting worldly wars, not religious ones. And the Bible forbids such violence.

The New Testament was written within the generation shortly after Jesus' ascension to heaven and while the disciples were still alive.
So I think that gospel of thomas is a later heresy arose after the 1st century AD; and that was one of the kind of gnostic preaching which the apostles fought against.

Even so, Gods words can't be changed. If you add something to the bible, then they are NOT God's words are they? If you take something away from the bible, God's words still remain, and they are still God's words. If I say "I'm a muslim" to you out loud, you can't go to the past and change that can you? No logical contradiction.

@pcgamerjoe Thank you for your comments, I'm not too sure about your argument that God needs to take a human form in order to understand humans. For example, if I create a machine I would need to know how it works before I even make it. I do not need to become a machine to understand one. Similarly God knew everything about us before he even created us, therefore does not need to become a human being to understand us.

@lovellespice That is one way of looking at it, but, I think if you have your creator, the One you worship everyday, the One you ask for forgiveness and the One you turn to when in need, take a human form it devalues him, and I also don't think it is that necessary.

Polytheism: Cardinal, unforgiveable sin. Most of the Arabs, most of the world, actually, was Polytheistic (In the Islamic definition). So, other than Muhammad and his followers (Assuming they were already Islamic monotheists even before Allah granted Muhammad his words), no one had the ability to be saved, and anyone who even practices Polytheism once, is never going to be saved. And you can't judge a religion on its people, you judge it by its doctrines. If all the Christians in my neighbourhood bowed down to a giant statue of a dragon or something, I wouldn't judge them, I'd go and see what their book says to verify. And the Christians in those wars were fighting worldly wars, not religious ones. And the Bible forbids such violence.

Even if god exists, god cant be observed, god is non material, god is outside of time and space, we are part of this universe, god is outside of the universe, we may be able to witness the causation of god, but not god the uncaused. Therefor the idea of god is pointless, the concept the idea may be valid, but not really useful. Anything before the beginning of the universe is unconceivable.

Jesus stood against fasting and did Prophet Isaiah, so how do you reconcile with that? His mission did end so what does that tell you? He told his followers to stay true to him until the end. The old heavens and the old earth will pass away to make room for the New Heavens and the New Earth. @academysounds How can it become a Gospel of "Thomas" that is older? Who wrote it? Thomas WAS one of the disciples WHILE Jesus lived. He even interacted with the risen Jesus. The New Testament was written within the generation shortly after Jesus' ascension to heaven and while the disciples were still alive.
So I think that gospel of thomas is a later heresy arose after the 1st century AD; and that was one of the kind of gnostic preaching which the apostles fought against.

The Qur'an says, "And dispute ye not with the People of the Book [Jews and Christians and the Bible], except in the best way, unless it be with those of them who do wrong but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you," (29:46).
Isn't the Qur'an here saying that the Muslim is to believe what the Bible says?
Jesus was God and He did claim to be God many times.

The fact is that you Muslims don't believe what Jesus said about Himself. You say the Bible is corrupt, but who corrupted it and when was it corrupted? If you don't know, then don't say it. @miket1m, "The Words" in 6:34 can also be translated as descisions > translation from Pichtall. This is a matter of translation. No proper translation exists in english. Even so, Gods words can't be changed. If you add something to the bible, then they are NOT God's words are they? If you take something away from the bible, God's words still remain, and they are still God's words. If I say "I'm a muslim" to you out loud, you can't go to the past and change that can you? No logical contradiction.

How this, how that... that's funny, I thought I explained it pretty well, but let me try again. Look up translation from Pickthal, it says "desisions" instead of "words". Deficiency is in the english languge, NOT The Qur'an. The one who is grasping at straws are you my dear.

@miket1m "Words" in that passage is a close translation, but it's meaning is NOT exclusivly "words". There is MORE to the meaning of that word. Do you understand now, christian? EITHER WAY, His words are never changed, because if you take something out or put something in to the bible, His words are STILL the same, but that doesn't mean HIS words are in the bible!

@moeazysgc Do you even know what "incest" means? God didn't have sexual intercourse with Mary, nor is he related to her. It was a VIRGIN birth, which means there was no sex beforehand.
And yes, we believe God became fully human while fully God. In this way, he knew our temptations and suffered pain for us. How could he suffer or die if he did not take human form? How could he have sacrificed for us on behalf of our sins?

Is that the only way god could take away our sins? How can god suffer? God is beyond those human things. Humans are full of sin anyways, be it a christian, a muslim or a jew... don't tell me that because you are a christian that you are sinless because that would be a complete lie.

Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) is a great prophet. He came to teach you how to live your life. God can't be compared with anything, especially us mere mortals, He is far beyond anything that humans assosiate with Him.

@pcgamerjoe Thank you for your comments, I'm not too sure about your argument that God needs to take a human form in order to understand humans. For example, if I create a machine I would need to know how it works before I even make it. I do not need to become a machine to understand one. Similarly God knew everything about us before he even created us, therefore does not need to become a human being to understand us.

@lovellespice If you use basic logic, worshipping someone, who eats, drinks and feels pain does not make sense. If you see your self as God's slave, you are less likely to be arrogant and you will turn to God every time. If the difference between you and God is only a few miracles, then he's not worth turning to. I hope you think deeply about it because, I do not want you to continue walking yourself into Hell, I'll pray that God guides you to the correct path.

@zfettah05 Why doesn't that make sense, if Jesus is God that is understood in an immanent and self-revelatory mode? A God who chose to be part of human experience - prior to judging us - in order to empathize with our condition and redeem us is indeed worth worshipping (or at least venerating). "A few miracles", yes but he also lived a sinless life in service to others & demonstrated the greatest kind of love: self-sacrifice. Christians would die bearing his name because he died for them first.

And the human being in question (Jesus), according to the christian, was a manifestation of God to us in a way we could understand, i.e. as another human being. As the Logos of God, his nature - prior to being born as a man - is divine. So indeed, an extraordinary 'thing'.

This is why God is frequently appears in works of art as an old man with a big beard. Yet, no believer (other than mormons, but that's different) actually thinks that is what God is.
