cont. -and what not but this seems certainly doable, though drinking all your food might get a little old. Can you give me an idea of what you might eat on a typical day? And... Are you still eating Raw since this challenge was so long ago, are you knee deep in mashed potatoes or are you still smoothying it up??? Thanks so much! Love your videos!!!! Oh, and where can I get that sun bread you were talking about???
How funny, I'm in Alaska too and there are 8 other posts before me and one is in Alaska too! Hard to eat raw in alaska year round. Organic produce sucks here most of the time, actually all produce sucks here most of the time. I do want to try and eat more raw though. I 've been watching a few of your vids and I am just curious. Do you Drink all of your meals? Do you prepare your food in any other way? The raw food eating seemed so intimidating before with the dehydrators and....
how cute are you? come back you inspire me so much! Even on your down days I feel like you are real and beautiful... please make more vids! pretty please? :)
I agree, 80 10 10 is the way for major energy. I got Dr. Grahams book a few months ago and started eating more fruit, greens, and veggies right away. I have found I'm able to get through the cravings if I eat enough. I also feel my brain is functioning better on low fat. Hey did you say the Nasturium leaves are edible?? I have a huge plant that's taking over my yard.
Thanks for the Video and bravo if this diet works for you. I tried a diet similar to this, low fat, lots of fruits and veggies, lots of carbs. I did very poorly on the high carb/low fat diet I was following. Some of the problems I had were, falling asleep or getting very drowsy after meals, extreme hunger, peeling/painful skin, very irritable, extreme-extreme cravings for FAT, depression......just to name a few. I do high fat and no/low carb, this is the best diet for me- no depression is great!
Human breast milk contains only about 1% protein, but it also only contains about 4% fat and only about 7% carbs. So, it is not heavy on the carbs, and the fat content is 4x the protein content. The rest of it is all water. I wouldn't say that it correlates to what a growing weaned human needs, once they start eating solids and plant foods. It is totally different, and babies are not growing muscles, as older children on solid foods are. Fat makes up the majority of calories in human breast milk
Hi Therese! I have just finished watching almost all of your posts...they are SO great! I have been dabbling in raw for a couple of years, and a nasty flu just catalyst me into almost a month so far :) Finally, made it, lol. Anyways, my question is how closely are you following 811? Do you avoid nama shoyu, sunbread and salt? Or do you just focus on keeping the fat down? Or are you still even following it? lol....just curious. Take care from Canada!
80/10/10 is my template. Most days are religious, but I'll still eat sunbread if I feel like it. Biggest thing is keeping processed/refined fats out of the diet. Even if they are raw they just impede the body. I always focus on wholefoods. There's no bottles of flax oil or olive oil hanging off trees anywhere in nature - chances are they aren't what the body needs to do the BEST job it can. I still use nama shoyu sometimes. I have one day a week I'll make more elaborate recipes :)
Hi there RawDownUnder. I have been watching your videos off and on, but I have to say I keep coming back to this one and have almost started a daily view/listening because of the energy. Thanks for brightening up the world. BTW who is the singer? I am in Alaska almost the other side of the world. Have a fantastic day!
rawdownunder you are crackers! i love watching you. am eating 80/10/10 as well makes more sense no? Haha ! I'm aussie but i love your aussie accent. Its a classic :)
Just a question. I'm a vegetarian considering going raw (really inspired by your videos and some of the reading I've come across as well), anyway, I just was wondering, would it be a good transition to do the 80/10/10.
It would be the hard core way to go raw but if you're feeling the vib give it a try :) It's usually the diet raw fooders end up on after doing a good degree of 'spring cleaning' already. You might get some crazy detox symptoms going straight to 80/10/10 but then again you may not. If you're seriously thinking about it I recommend getting the book first and fully educate yourself on how to do it properly.
:) What, for you, would be the best cooked food to raw food transition? Suggestions-wise that is. I'm struggling right now being at my parents' house visiting, because my biggest problem is having the food around. If there's something tempting lying around, I will eat it lol.
I saw that Graham link on your page and watched it, just before I heard you mention it. He puts things exactly how I think. After seeing that, I've never felt so inlighted and impowered about 811 eating.
80 80 10 Rocks! It took me nearly two years of messing around with my diet. I've finally arrived! Chronic fatique and chronic digestive issues are gone. Instead I have abundant energy & started training again. Let no one critise this diet untill they've tried it without cheating for a few weeks! Wow, the joy I've experienced is incredible. I met Dr.D 3 weeks ago, he's just a nice guy! But in regard to diet & health he's found what we were designed for. Bless you! Stuart.
SO glad to see you dropped the 'super foods' high fat raw nonsense, and know the REAL TRUTH now, 801010 low fat raw vegan is the real deal, the end of the road of searching and searching. Dr. D. is the man!
Hi there RawDownUnder, Where do you get all those fantastic greens from? Organic vege store? Do you grow them yourself? I'm in melbs and would love to get some of these greens but I haven't seen most of them.
I've got a pretty special raw food friend who's hobby is growing all sorts of uncommon greens to supplement his diet and we do trades :)
The only thing I grow is dandelion at the moment, but that still rocks in smoothies too. If you can grow stuff yourself then that is what I recommend most highly - What you get back is more than just phytonutrients and enzymes if you know what I mean.
Milk - Not at the moment (body doesn't seem to want it).
Animal fat and brain performance - Truth is animal fats aren't required for optimal brain performance, but while going through 'vital' adjustment animal products may be required to greater or lesser degrees - but it's an individual thing.
What do you think about the idea that while greens and fruits are good for detox and performance, we may need some animal fats for optimal brain performance?
Do you alternate between your greens or do you mix them all together every day?
I find that alternating between greens prevents me from getting to a point where I can't eat them any more.
You look fantastic! As someone else mentioned earlier, your face is looking so much thinner. You must have lost quite a lot of weight since starting the new challenge. I'm wondering, Gabriel Cousins discusses macro nutrient splis for fast and slow oxidiser. I am a fast oxidiser which he recommends high fat and protein percentages. If possible, could you advise whether you are fast or slow?
Awesome! I just ordered my 80/10/10 book today right before I saw your video...how funny! I've watched a lot of Dr. Doug Graham's videos on You Tube and I've been trying to figure out how to do it just off of them but, I thought I better get the book now. I can't wait to read it! Thank you so much! I LOVE your energy and you are just too cute! lol!
wow, so you really think "superfoods" aren't really needed in a raw diet huh? I've fooled with them a little (mostly maca and bee pollen) and have yet to come to a conclusion if they are actually beneficial.
I love maca and bee pollen, but I rate fresh young greens much higher. I used to use superfoods more than greens and I had no where near the energy I have now!
Not in my green smoothies. I hardly ever use it now but if a friend comes over and I make up a raw chocolate smoothie as a treat I'll put a little in :)
I didn't like the taste of maca when I started with it either, but now I really do! it's strange! but like I said earlier, I still haven't concluded if it's really as beneficial as everyone says.
you are a raw rock star!!! I have concluded that I MUST go dancing at a disco with you one night! Now if only I could get myself to Australia! what a fun video darling!

It's the terminology Dr Douglas Graham has come up with for a very human friendly way of eating. It represents 80% carbs, 10% protein and 10% fat.

I think breast milk has got in 100ml 1g protein, 4g fat and approx.7g of carbohydrates and 0 fiber.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Lovely video, so nice to see someone who enjoys doing what they're doing.

Yes, that data is correct by weight. By calorie breast milk is approximately 51% fat, 42% carbohydrate and a little over 6% protein :)
