  • It did ruin the coral reefs. That, plus the thousands of old tires that, 20 years ago, the tire industry convinced the locals to VOLUNTEER to dump off of boats to build artificial reefs. Nothing lives in, or around, them - they are, effectively, circles of death and poison. Beyond that, the Intra-coastal waterway used to be BLUE water in the 1950's; it's dirty now.

  • They won't be shut down, 'Yes' - the sewage does float in toward swimming beaches, and you should see the size of the pipe, and the amount of out-flow, from the one near Boca Raton. It's intimidating - I was awe-struck when I found myself under it (couldn't see it due to the cloudiness of the water until I was at it). Disgusting, poisoning, and it will continue on because it makes everyones' lives easier than facing the fact that our waste treatment plants aren't anywhere near capable.
