  • I think the hardcore of the '80s, especially the ethos of Minor Threat, really was about individualism, and being involved in a scene that prided itself on doing things on a non -commercial, not backed by big corporations level. Starting bands and magazines that centered around music that, then, was different. Of course, many of those early bands made lasting careers out of it: Ian Macaye even, Henry Rollins, Danzig, Husker Du guys. The Pistols, yeah, they started it. The '90s killed it.

  • The footage of the racist man coming out of the window, where is this footage from? Besides the movie I mean

  • @thesteveus

That bloke is called Derrick Day and he was head of the local National Front in Hoxton in the 70's / 80's. By all accounts he was a very nasty piece of work. It is rumoured that when he was younger he was used as muscle by the Krays. He stood as an NF candidate in elections at the time. The Alf Garnett character created by Johnny Speight in Til Death Us Do Part was based on him.

  • @57nicktaylor

Wow, thought he was just random bloke

  • They did a really great job with the period television in making you feel like you were really there...

  • Everyone tells me that Punks had its day to them I say Fuck no! its just havin time off and someones gonna have to go and wake it up

  • WE NEED ANOTHER SEX PISTOLS!!!!1111!!!!!!

  • @nirualos theres only one sex pistols. could NOT be redone or immitated

  • pretty similar to whats going on in England now!

  • yes indeed the best movie of the pistols ! ! ! the trued ! ! !

  • does anyone know where i can download "the great rock and roll swindle"?

  • @lirannine yeah doovde

  • Hey, 1:40 Upper Parliament St Liverpool, L8! Best known as the scene of the Toxteth Riots in 1982. Good of the BBC to erroneously call the area that on the news, the name hadn't been used for ages and it stuck.

  • the greatest & most brutally honest rockumentary ever made. my former room mate once sold drugs 2 sid & nancy

  • @batfrend Seriously??elaborate please!!sounds like an interesting story:)

  • @batfrend heroin or one of the other drugs they were abusing at the time?

  • @Radioactive1080z L.S.D. @ least that's what Billy boy claims

  • @batfrend they were on lsd too?

  • This is the best Sex pistols move in my opinion

    1.The Filth and the Fury

2.The Great Rock and Roll Swindle

    3. Sid and Nancy

  • @JimmyMcEmoson ~Agreed, I like this one the best, And Ive seen ALOT of Sex Pistols stuff. You should see "Who killed Nancy?" or the self titled "SID" dvd. Both are very good and help piece together the REAL storie of the sex Pistols. Filth and the Fury IS the most accuate one, Because its done by John Lydon as a rebuttle to Malcomes "Great Rock N Roll Swindle", Witch is filled with lies, And posers in the scene at the time lieing about shit. Esp. Nick Kent, That mans a HUGE Lier.

    Cheers Jimmy!

  • @blasphema69 Actually, Julien Temple directed both "Filth" and "Swindle."

  • @cubdukat ~ I didn't know that. Well I didn't say they went directed well, lol. Just that R-n-R Swindle has Alot of Lies in it. and Filth is more truthful. Soo Catwoman Never even met Malcolm in person, they spoke on the phone once. The girl whom plays her in R-n-R Swindle is like 14, Soo was in here 20s at the time. She said she would never be naked in A bathroom with him.lol. Malcolm wasn't the reason for her famous style.

  • @JimmyMcEmoson sid & nancy sucked

  • @JimmyMcEmoson yep 100%

  • @ 2:59 I expected "White Riot" to start

  • Yes! I've been waiting for someone to put this up in the Original English version. Thanks much.

  • all of us forget how fucking backward 70's england was.. this film clarifies how fucking brilliant and essential the pistols were..great stuff!

  • Long live the left partis, god save us.

  • Anyway, the Sex Pistols and a few other bands made kids like me understand that being yourself was okay...it could even be better than okay! It was about celebrating the misfit and honoring the unique. "Do it Yourself" be honest about sticking out and not fitting in! Death to the clique and popularity,to the conventionally "pretty" and being part of the crowd!!!

  • @afropunkrock ~Well said, you actually get it :) lol.

  • An old friend of the Sex Pistols named Julien Temple directed this documentary. He also comments about Joe Strummer of the Clash in another documentary I just saw. Anyway...who said the early punk rock kids of London had any money for "leather jackets, etc" ??????

  • @flicker1969 and i thougt my english sucks:P

  • 0:26 New Clear Days The Vapors

  • they made money out of the working class. just like everyone does, because essentially the working class are stupid enough to blame others for their poverty and lack of opportunity. still, the pistols has some great songs, so fair play to them, i just don't like how they treat their fans as inept closed minded blinkered fools. Thankyou.

  • @thegoldenox the sex pistols weren't about changing politics.they were about making people think about everything that was going on.everything was shit and all they did was point out the truth.as johnny said, they managed to annoy everyone that they were fed up with.and that reall was an amazing thing.it doesn't seem that hard nowadays but back then,it was a real step forward

  • @creatingchaos04 ah okay, i think i mistook the narration at the start, if its placing the band in context then yep, fine. Thanks mate, I mean I love them, but i just hate any kind of marketing schpeil in any form. rock on my brother!

  • @thegoldenox respect what you're saying like.i know malcolm was a very clever man at marketing and i don't know how far they'd be without him but to quote Steve Jones- "everyone knows malcolms full of shit"

    rock on yourself!

  • Oh this is all such crap. The Sex Pistols were basically a money spinner for McLaren, who saw an opportunity. Punk didn't change anything for the working class, punks were basically a bunch of young music fans who thought that by wearing leather and spiking their hair and playing and listening to loud distorted rock music that they could change politics. Bullshit, all they did was further alienate adolescent and immature minded selves, and make band and McLaren more wealthy, Countrylife butter.

  • The Sex Pistol are the best band ever! If Johnny Rotten was the voice of punk then Sid Vicious was the attitude! it is so true.

  • SEX PISTOLS!!!

  • I still place that shot of the bobby grabbing the person by the throat and wrestling them down as one of the most disturbing scenes in film.

  • rest in peace both sid and malcom

  • They use the intro credits from Richard III. Sex pistols and Richard III = very happy fangirl. lol. thanks for the upload

  • @Medusa0999 , youre welcome hun :)

  • Stand up to oppression! Us lazy greeks will keep fighting the system as long as it doesn't fit us!

  • No probs. Not a bad "pop" song actually, very Roxy influenced mind. This film, what a great reminder of how bleak the glamtastic 70s were. Thank God for the Pistols.

  • @maxwall7755 , Agreed! X

  • @maxwall7755

I don't know about bleak, man. The Glam scene was always good for some fucked up urban myths and insane stories. And hey, they still aim to please: Do you think that that sick fuck Gary Glitter was playing stink finger with little girls for anything other than the press that was in it?

Okay, that WAS out of line.

    I'll just leave now.

  • @TheFlual22: "Glass Of Champagne" by Sailor,1975.

  • @maxwall7755 , thanks :)

  • @blasphema69 do you know what's the song from 9:45 to the end?

  • @roytheboy68 through my eyes-the creation

  • @tpen70

    Thanks mate

  • @roytheboy68 Absolutley,cheers

  • Whats the name of the song at 8:57

I used to hear it when i was a kid,but I can't remember the name

  • @TheFlual22 , i cant make out the song, sorry.

  • Wow Men sure don't act like the way they use to in the late 70s. Violent lads especially that white nationalist dude. On the other hand at least he's honest bout his hatred and has his reasons for it. THOUGH those reasons may be misguided

  • @Fenderkicksass tru dat

  • @fascismanarchy chaos into order into chaos into order into chaos.

  • Thanks for putting this up. It gives those of us a chance to see what the real story is behind the Sex Pistols and not Malcom Mclaren's fabrication that he was soley responsible for for their creation. I'd much rather get the truth from John Lydon thank you very much.

  • workin class hero!!!

  • Thanks for putting this up,the pricks will block in soon!

  • @gbyrne ya i know they will, but oh fuckin well, ill just put it back up,lol

  • This is why I love the Sex Pistols. They did not come from very well-off families. They were normal people upset with the government, the establishment, and they got their message out through amazing music.

  • THE best Rock-u-mentary EVER made! I've seen this probably over 100 times on DVD..they did such a fabulous job on this! Thanks for posting!

  • thanks for watching! was thinking about putting the rest of the film up?

  • Great documentary! Thanks for posting

  • back den it was shit but a least people got off der arses an did something bout it,not like these cunts nowerdays who just fall in line and accept the shit day are force fed!!!

  • @flicker1969 well said.

  • @flicker1969 But nothing changed then, so why should people expect something to change now?

  • @TonyBranston hoping things will change is enough, nowdays people avent even got hope , wen we had r riots in the 80s,toxteth.things changed.am not sayin thats the way tho,but people[ordinary workin class people ]together cud fuckin do somthing bout the situation if we got off r playstation, big mac arses!!!

  • @flicker1969

Celebrity is the opium of the masses

  • @flicker1969 that's right

  • This is very good, cheers!!!
