After Kimi went from Michelin to Bridgestone he didn't seem as good as he used to be. The old tyres suited his driving style more and when they all had to switch he had to change his driving style. Still really fast though.
@guitarman813 I think this was his 3rd best race, behind Bahrain 2006 (22nd to 3rd) and Spa 2008 (Led most of the race even though he was in a car that didn't suit him at all).
@domtv1 - can you upload it on youtube in parts for us. Ive been looking for it everywhere but italian coverage is the best i can find. It was an incredible race!!
@kiraik Sorry, but i don't know where you can dowload it. Last month someone did upload the full race but neally all the parts have been removed now. I only have a copy on a very old video tape.
i hate legard he annoys me when button won championship in brazil he said in abu dhabi things like 'and here comes the world champion' about 11 times roughly he PISSES ME OFF WITH A CAPITAL P NOW GO BUM UR DOG LEGARD
its british tv, its kinda a given that he's gunna be biased towards british drivers, at least james allen showed passion in his commentary, not like jonathan legard, he just says the drivers name over and over whenever something happens and the same phrases too, does my head in.
unreal kimi. best f1 overtake ive ever seen by a long shot. I agree completely with the legard haters. What a boring motherfucker he is lad. I wish someone at the bbc listened to their own bloody coverage and then go tell him to fuck off and stop interrupting the clearly more intelligent Martin Brundle!!!
Ahh, glad to get that off my chest.
Bring back James Allen, I know he loved Lewis and Jenson too much but at least he shuts up now and again, and his voice doesnt annoy me!
the thing is, james allen has much more enthusiasm, brundle has all the facts, and james allen had all the passion for f1. it was brilliant, and now we have legard, who lets face it, is fucking terrible!
Amazing move from Kimi, as a Ferrari fan it will be sad to see him go cause hes an awesome driver, but I wish him well for wherever he races next season and i'll still be happy to see him win!!
I think this move was called the best overtake of all times... Well makes sense I guess... Keep flying Kimi!!! Hope you can repeat feats like this one next year, if you choose to go back to McLaren..... :)
When Raikkonen was in Mclaren he was much competitive than now. After join Ferrari he has become less aggressive in racing and he has done a lot of mistakes in three years.Anyway he has benn a great driver, especially in 2003-04-05
@Concenflen I don't think joining Ferrari was/is the problem, in 2007 he was as good as before in his Mclaren years. But after winning the championship he made more mistakes and became lazy...
I would not want to be in Fisichella on that moment. He got just beaten bad on last lap and maybe in last place to overtake. What a great race that was. Shame there's no Finnish commentary cause they were on another planet when Raikkonen did this. I like this guy he has some character and he do things way he like. Not like average finn.
He's better than Jonathan Legard. That guy could turn the most amazing moment in history into a complete bore. At least James Allen gave the commentary some excitement.
Im so happy i dont have to hear james allen anymore, he is a complete twat. Fisi is better off in a crap car where the good is noticed and this stuff is not for points.
being a f1 driver then must hve been tough, look how often their head moves about, its just non stop head movement coz of the g-force, id hate to be a f1 driver then. feeling dizzy after lol jking
This whole race was littered with great overtaking! But this is the move that will stand as the best of the race, because of the importance of this move. One of the greatest of all time. I won't say it's the best, because my personal favourite is Nigel Mansell on Gerhard Berger in Mexico in 1990. Trust me, you'll love it!
I don't think it was in terms of a single moment. Winning the championship was the highlight of his career so far but this one race and this particular moment was arguably the finest showing by Raikkonen. He got lucky with the 2007 championship in the final race, but honestly, the 2005 championship should have been his (3 retirements while leading races) and this race would have been more significant in that case.
After Kimi went from Michelin to Bridgestone he didn't seem as good as he used to be. The old tyres suited his driving style more and when they all had to switch he had to change his driving style. Still really fast though.

Jonathan Legard would have spent so long giving analysis as to how the both cars went down a hill, he'd have missed the overtake happening...
