are u serious??? Archer puts his body into the break with the follow through dropping his shoulder..one of the best!.......next u will be saying Archer has a so-so break?...give us all a break!...let's see you come with some some championship 9 ball under pressure at this level then u can post your videos...and show us all how it's really done!....Morons!
his break works extremely well. Whether or not it looks good is irrelevant (though frankly his form is excellent). It's not like having a gorgeous break while potting nothing will continue your turn at the table. Also, why does potting a ton of balls on the break matter? You need to make one and have a shot on the one, that's it. It's not like you can trade extra balls made for any sort of reward. Do you even understand how 9 ball works?
@jrkevinfang Making a ball and having a shot at the lowest ball is the most important thing. But making more than one ball matters a lot. If you make 3 balls of the break, a 6 ball run and you're out. A lot easier than one ball of the break and running 8. Table is less likely to be clustered as well.
@yukokotube what? Wu, IMO has one of the best breaks in the game. These are older videos of him, watch newer ones of his break. The amount of power he uses while still controlling the cue ball perfectly (most of the time) is amazing.
@ProdigyKimXP I understand that he have a powerfull and "controled" breaks, but it still looks ugly to me. I dont see style there, I dont see a gentleman there, I see a guy who almost scratch the pool table with his cue stick and almost break his own cue stick. And sorry... I dont see that his breaks were too much effective. So much power and just one pocket ball..
@yukokotube You don't get style points in pool. Watch his match when he played o'sullivan. He was 3 balls on the break almost every rack. Remember this is just one game you're watching. You shouldn't make such assumptions about his entire break from one game. He has one of the most effective breaks in comparison to many other pros. If you watch most players, their cue bends like that when they follow through. They're not almost breaking it.
@yukokotube as what other people said to you, you're a beginner in pool based on what you said. In 9 ball, you want to run out from the break, which means you have to make at least one ball in order for you to stay on the table, and the ball that has the highest probability of pocketing it in is the one ball to the side pocket, this type of break has become the most popular and efficient in tournament play. The chance of making more balls varies, learn the math
@yukokotube if you knew what the fuck you were talking about, you'd understand that cues are meant to be bent because alot of hard masse shots require you to shoot straight into the table, pool tables dont "scratch" and good cues dont break from shots that are commonly made by professionals.
@yukokotube what im saying is that if you watch professionals play, you will see quite commonly that their cues make contact with the table, its inevitable when a hard, professional shot is made
@PhilDesigns Just think this... If everybody jump from bridge, do you will jump too? There are Pros, that doesn't do that. Who do you want to admire?
Pretty awesome break shot, don't think he is experimenting as much as shredding the balls. It's really hard to keep the cue ball on the table with that kind of a power break. I compete on the state level and I'd almost be afraid of someone breaking like that:)
Agreed. A guy in my league breaks similar to Chia-Ching, 7 outta 10 times the cueball flies off the table as soon as hits the rack. I'd almost be afraid of cuing as low as he sets up..It comes up but I could just see myself becoming the proud owner of a torn green felt snuggie.
@lakunas23 he has way more contol of the cue ball, Jeff stops the cueball right in the middle of the table and pockets atleast 3 consistently. Jeff just sucks ass at ball making.
Quite, and he won the world cup cos of his charming personality? He has a great break. No need for white to be in the middle if you're on the next ball... I do compete, so I know a bit about it.
If you're observative, you can see that Wu's experimenting.
First two breaks, the cue ball goes to the right of the table. It was obviously risky.
Third break, he decided to hit the ball in the center, but it almost scratched. Again, risky.
Fourth and fifth break, he decided to not do the center hit, but put the cue ball on that left side rail. It's obviously better, open shots on the next ball, and putting down the one ball AND the wing ball.
@TheIshter What's your point? Most pros have to adjust to the way the table breaks since no two tables break the same. He's still a sensational player with one of the best breaks in the game.
That Yellow ball always seems to end up in roughly the same place, so i guess he has a little sense of control, but at speeds like that im suprised the balls dont launch into orbit.
One ball on the side and wing ball on the lower left corner. It's not really displayed here, but his control of the cue ball for the most part is spectacular, usually stopped at the center of the table.
This reminds me of a pro state tournament I took 4th in, the players playing for first and second, the winner of the coin toss went on to run nine racks. When asked what he would do differently the loser said," call tails".
Many many maaaany ppl can break that hard! The difficult part is to control the cue ball (you know, not traveling to other tables, roof, behind the bar lol)
The person that installed the tip on the shaft should have already done whatever adjustment is necessary while gluing and fitting the tip (sizing and shaping--without applying any chalk) and since this was all done prior to you ever touching your cue after having the new tip installed, I ask again: What calibration or adjustment do you claim to be making to the tip?
The shape obviously. Just because whoever installed the tip has shaped it, doesn't mean that it's the desired shape for the player using it.
Especially during long periods of play (e.g. tournaments) your playing tip will flatten and or warp due to the repeated compression.
Depending on the break tip (especially if you're breaking the balls that hard), the tip will most likely lose your desired optimum shape after 20+ games.
Therefore one must make tip "calibrations" during play.
An adjustment is changing your aim point (often requires a re-set of your shooting position) or contact point on the cue ball (usually a slight repositioning of your bridge or bridge hand).
He was using all of these terms pretty much interchangeably and they don't apply the same way in all cases.
The point is, his answers weren't answering my question in a way that made sense to me, that's why I kept asking.
No, because you persist in avoiding the very first question I asked you.
Here it is again, cut-n-pasted from my first comment to you (it could also have been pulled from several other places) : How does one "calibrate" a cue tip?

How does one "calibrate" a cue tip? If it's properly shaped to begin with, there's nothing that needs to be done (besides chalk) during a game.

the cue tip of course
