Hello Zak. I browsed the JVC web page but nothing about how to load new maps to the device. They use Street Director but this soft doesn't allow loading new maps, just POI. Do you know what is the map's and cartography provider? what kind of maps are compatible for this device model? Thank in advance!
I own this unit myself I really like it my only beef with the unit the the bluetooth function I don't like it when someone calls you just shows the number and not the name even that person is on your phonebook makes no sense at all. Also i don't like how you can't use the voice recognition to make calls rather then scrolling through your phone book. Very user friendly so easy to use that i don't even bother with the manuals.
I am thinking about purchasing this unit for my 2008 pontiac solstice. What wire harness would I need to get? Do I need the on-star compatible even if I never use on-star and do not have a subscription?
The KWNT1 is not a product we carry any longer. We still have some of the next model up from JVC, called the KWNT7000BT, which you can find at Crutchield with $200 off until we run out of this model as well.
As for your car, yes you need the OnStar adapter weather you plan to continue using it or not. We've got everything you need. You may want to call us, or place your order at Crutchfield.
You must use the mic to take advantage of the Bluetooth feature of this radio. There is no mic built into the radio itself, so it's not really optional.
Mapping software on the KW-NT1 is limited to the maps that are pre-installed, which means that it will not accept maps for other countries, etc. Next year, we will offer a full map data and POI data update but this will also be for U.S. mapping only.
Currently, customers can add points of interest from Google maps using StreetDirector Plus (Available at JVC), but this is for adding POI's one at a time.
Are you saying they are only going to offer an updated map for those in the US. What about us here in Canada. Hell my map is already missing the new Golden Ears Bridge.
thx for the help... that just helped me a lot! i think im getting the KW-NT1 from you guys, however i found a cool thing about the NX7000BT. you can skip the song by acrossing the finger. and u can also spin the screen to control the volum. does the KW-NT1 have that feature 2?
hi! great review there... but i have a hard decison to make between KW-NX7000BT and KW-NT1. i found out that they both almost about that same, however the KW-NX7000BT has a bigger screen. all i wanted to know is which 1 will be faster? has the better system?
Sorry for the delayed response. Our research shows that the dash cavity is large enough for a double DIN receiver like the KW-NT1.
The reason we don't show it as an easy fit is because there is no installation kit to make it fit securely and look acceptable. In fact there is no single DIN installation kit for your vehicle either.
So, a good installer will have to fabricate a mounting kit. Of course this will cost extra but it can probably be done.
If you purchased your JVC from Crutchfield, call Tech at the number on your invoice. This is one of the great services you get when you buy from us.
If you cant find your invoice, try our Customer Support Specialists at 1-800-955-9091. They are good at finding order numbers. They can transfer you to Tech.
If you purchased elsewhere, they should be able to help you. If not, JVC may be able to get help. Their number is 800-252-5722.
the bluetooth takes 15 seconds to answer after you push the answer button.
Also I cannot figure out how to import my contacts from my htc dream phone. I also cannot get my ipod touch to play videos even after I purchased the $70 cord
Is it possible to input an iPod through the back so that you don't have any wires hanging out from the front? ie. by using a JVC KS PD10o iPod adapter?
Yes, you can adjust the volume of the GPS voice, and turn it off. Also, you can listen to music while being guided by the GPS, it will mute the music on the front speakers only and giving your directions, then bring the music back up.
i bought this a few days ago definitely worth the money navigation is a great thing

I love my new purchase. As far as voice recognition, the main numbers I call are on my one touch speed dial... 9 slots all filled. Thanks

do you know when this year the full map data update is coming?
MrJersey973 2 years ago
MrJersey,
If your unit's software version is 1.0.010.501 or older, you should update to the latest software.
The Newest software update for KW-NT1 Car Navigation for US/CANADA model, Version 1.1.007.0501 is available as of May 28, 2009
You can get this update at JVC's website.
Hope that helps,

a5747844,
I can see why you are having a hard time deciding between these two. They are both getting pretty good reviews, and do a lot of cool things.
Both use flash memory for the nav maps, so they should be very fast at calculating your route.
I would try the KW-NT1 based on the reviews, people seem most happy with that model.
See the reviews I'm talking about by searching for the JVC model number on Crutchfield.
Hope that helps,

is there voice commands where you can say "play album 'album name'" , or.. "Find the nearest Mcdonalds", things like that.
mcerveni 2 years ago
mcerveni,
This radio does not have that feature. It's still very easy to control, just doesn't have "voice command."
Sorry.

Yes, you can adjust the volume of the GPS voice, and turn it off. Also, you can listen to music while being guided by the GPS, it will mute the music on the front speakers only and giving your directions, then bring the music back up.

The only question I have, is while using gps, can you still listen to music? Also, can you disable the gps voice? Thanks, and great review!
