the comments below correctly state the reason(detox) you felt sick. it's a good thing! you do not want to keep putrefactive bacteria in your body. wheatgrass is good at cleansing it while replacing it with good bacteria at the same time.
you felt sick because your body is detoxing. That is common when people try raw potent herbs like this, its like medicine, sickness is not always a bad thing, it is your body healing, just as fever is your body's healing response and why you shouldn't run to medicine to numb your body's awareness. This is everything doctors don't want us to know, because they would loose their jobs! The answers are already here, in nature and within our own bodies.
The reason you felt sick is because growing wheatgrass indoors results in mold and high bacteria counts. You called it "red wheat" but the real name is "red winter wheat." That is because the natural way to grow wheatgrass is during a cold winter in a climate like Kansas, NOT IN A KITCHEN. You would feel the same way if you ate a slice of moldy bread or some rotten veggies. Wheatgrass grown indoors is bad stuff and should never be used unless you don't care about your body!
@larrylawrence2120 WOW So what you are saying is that no one should drink wheat grass because you can not grow it in the right climates. You are the first person to tell me that I need to grow the plant or grass in a cold climate. I live in Florida and keep my house at 78 Degrees and think It would all have to do with the PH of the water and the food I feed it in the water I give it.
Alright folks this is what you do if you don't like the taste wheat grass. Pinch your nose closed while downing the grass. Now don't breath or inhale, (hold your breath) and while holding your breath, and without un-pinching your nose, switch any fruit juice of your choice around your mouth (to remove any wheat grass taste),down the the rest of your fruit juice. Works because you get rid of the W.G. taste & chased down with sweet fluids. One can't taste something if you hold your breath.Works.
wow - most people who are starting out drink 1/2 to 1 oz a day, diluted or sipping slowly. It will give you a rush in a bad way when you down it like a tequila shot... it detoxes the body and kills many types of disease-causing parasites and bacteria in the body. im assuming from this video date that you have stopped with the wheatgrass.. sorry you had such fast detox symptoms. its really normal.
just as you would with green juice water it down a lot if you have never done it before it will still go down and do the good without taxing your insides with a super potent juice. and start off with less until your body ajusts to it. thats why they say consult a doctor before any major diet changes. anyway nice video. everything in moderation the people that drink gallons of this stuff have been doing it for 10 years or more not 2 mins. lol
I tried wheatgrass when I was living in California. There was a Jamba Juice (store) and they offered wheatgrass shots. I decided to try it and actually liked it. Yea it's a strong taste and kinda tastes like you are eating the juice from your lawn but it didn't make me feel sick or anything.
juiced my first ever and drank it today. first sip was essentially a slap in the face. potent stuff, im gonna follow through for at least fa few weeks to see i i notice any positive effects
It happened to me too, turns out that some microscopic fungus can grow on the blades of the wheat grass and if that is the case you will get some nausea and stomach discomfort. Ive been trying to find out a way to prevent this without using any type of chemical. This only happens when I grow it myself, If I buy the wheatgrass tray from an organic store and juice it, I dont get this sick sensation afterwards... I asked how they grow it but refused to tell =(
you're feeling sick because its your bodies way of getting rid of all your toxins! I work at an organic juice bar and my first day i had to try alll our juices and the next morning i felt sick, its because there's so much bad things in us. You need to continue and your body will get use to it. :)
@Emzirek Thanks for your post as it is most helpful! This is DETOXING! Be a vegetarian and be healthy! Your body is a temple and the most precious of all gifts that will ever be given to you! Take care of it and clean the inside as most of us just clean the outside! Blessings my brothers and sisters! Yahweh Bless!
it's horrible isn't it. the only way to do this is down in one!! even if you mix it with carrot or beetroot juice it's still not good, so it must be good for us!! blees you for trying it though. :-)))
They have wheat grass shots available at most Smoothie/Juice stores in North America, and they put it into the smoothie itself to hide the taste. Perhaps if you make a fruit drink or smoothie and then added the wheat grass, it would hide the taste, and perhaps if you drank less of an amount, you would not feel so sick afterwards.
I find that it tastes better if you don't let it grow quite so long and harvest it mid morning when the sugars are up in the grass ... like others have said you try juicing a few organic carrots in there too, makes it sweeter
True, mixing it with fresh or organic fruit juice will overpower the taste of the grass. Thats what they do at the Jamba Juice shops around here. They give wheat grass mixed in fresh fruit smoothies to people in the morning as an alternative to coffee, lol.
Wow! Whenever you get off the toilet, let me know how you feel NOW. ;-) It would make me think that you'd get a severe case of the runs after drinking that stuff...
hope your feeling better, and I must say your face reaction after drinking it made me chuckle, but I chuckled even more when you were saying "Its not as bad as I thought..." and was thinking, "What you expected worse than that?"
You have more balls then I do for trying out new things. That gives you awesome kudos.
Brave of you to try everything...super brave of you to film and release the failed experiments. You knew you were going to get an earful from the raw foodies and the turbo detoxers but you put it out there anyway. My dog eats grass all the time, mulberries, cucumbers but then again, he is a bit off.
Your body was reacting to the healthy nutrients and was causing a cleansing, This reason is due to poor health to begin with. If you continue this, you will not have the actual feeling of the cleansing of all the toxins in your system. Google RAW FOODISM to see what is actually going on during the cleansing you experienced.
Very interesting series! I did some googling and I think wikipedia explains your nausea "It should be noted that consumers with a poor diet may experience nausea on high dosages of wheatgrass" so the sickness was because of the fast. But the wheatgrass really seems to have some amazing health benefits so I'd consider growing some of my own! ^----^
The comment someone made below about baking sprouted wheat bread is very good. When the wheat berries have small roots on them, they are delicious. You can even toss a few on your oatmeal or snack on them.
I never tried it but I heard it's awful tasting stuff but is tolerable if mixed with orange juice. I imagine other juices also. Maybe try a drink with the wheat grass along with other fruits and vegetables.
I know what you mean about the taste. I tried for a long time to get over it, but failed. I still grow small trays of wheat grass because my cat Gertie adores it. She howls when I approach her tray and prefers to be hand fed rather than self grazing.
Why were the results different from what you were expecting? Also, are you going to put out a video after drinking it for a while and note if there are any health improvements?

lol I dont think i will be trying that as a drink then.. if you did end up being sick then i can see a sort of plus side it will be detox for your body haha Ok maybe not
um did i see you in the vet place in march the other day with your daughter? if so i think i know u u have a dog ryt? please reply :)
