The information that came with the recording I received stated that Brian Melvin was the drummer on this. Are you sure that Paco Sery is indeed the drummer? And even though Mousavi does play guitar on other tracks from this show, he is clearly absent on this particular tune ;)

  • @Musicenthusiasm Hello my friend, I can't tell you for sure, but at that time for some reason during that european tour Paco Sery ended up to sit in the band for several gigs.

I was listening to the drum solo when I got Paco to my mind then I checked out a file titled "JACO PASTORIUS UNISSUED LIVE RECORDINGS" from a long time trader.

So who's the drummer it's an open question ;-)

  • @massimoselvi

Hello friend. Thanks for answering. I remember the Milkowski mentioning this. Perhaps the info I received was wrong, and that this is one of the gigs that took place after Sery took over? I always thought that the drumming on this clip sounded more dynamic than what I usually hear from Melvin, so maybe you're right :)

  • NIce, a rare setting to hear Jaco swinging, and Azar is right at home in that Coltrane vein. On the bass solo, it is unmistakably Jaco!!

  • @EBL1114 I'm more verbose, but your succinct words exactly mirror. As they say in OZ, "too right!"

  • Qui il basso di Jaco sembra un contrabbasso, GRANDE!!!

  • This clip by Jaco does Much Justice to the Lengendary Jazz Bassist Paul Chambers (Mr. PC), & the Fender Jazz Bass! Thanks for posting this Musicenthusiasm...

And I agree that Paul Chambers is a legend. He definitely ranks among the most talented and influential bassists in jazz history. I don't think I've ever heard a bassist complement Miles and Coltrane better than he did. He automatically enhanced any session he participated in.

  • Meraviglioso!!!!!!!

  • That's great man! Thanks for your videos!

    All the very best.
