JM: Alpha usually means "Angle of Attack". The position of the nose relative to the flight path. Zero degrees alpha means flying directly into the wind. A high alpha, or angle of attack, means the nose is pointed up and the tail down. You could have a high alpha during a turn to the side or any direction really. Alpha is relative to air flow over the flight controls. Slow flight requires a higher alpha. Pulling Gs can be high alpha

Americans didn't want to get into the war after WWI fiasco, the "evil" of hitler wasn't really revealed until the midway point at least through the war so there was no immediate incentive to enter. The American involvement in WWII was major, no denying that.

@WolveZGuY Actually without the American industrial powerhouse then the outcome of WWII may have been very different. Granted Germany was fighting on two fronts and technically so were the Americans. Americans didn't want to get into the war after WWI fiasco, the "evil" of hitler wasn't really revealed until the midway point at least through the war so there was no immediate incentive to enter. The American involvement in WWII was major, no denying that.

Battle of Britain was critical indeed, had you guys lost that things may have been different. Although it would have been hard for the Germans to assault the Island, they didnt' have much of a navy and no experience with amphibious landings. England was in many ways a front line and you held your ground!
