Not to argue, but my understanding of a "Jew" is that it denotes a belief in Judaism. The analogy akin to being Catholic because you follow Catholicism. Like Catholicism, Judaism is not an ethnic delineator.
Not all Muslims are Arabs, but being Arab is an ethnicity. True, not all Jewish people are of middle eastern origin, but they are no less Jewish. That accounts for the many different physical traits (like Catholics would have). Keep in mind that Jewish is also a culture.
