just look at the michael crowe case what they did to this kid.they had him believing in the end he murdered his younger sister and 2 friends helped him.he was 14 at the time and they kept his parents away from him eventhough he asked for them.it should be a law the anyone under 18 should have an attorney present when police talk to them

Also, no psychologist in court to debate dream analysis? EXTREMELY fishy. Nobody trusts dreams for crap! They are made out of odds and ends of real life, creativity, and anything bouncing around in our head. They aren't as symbolic as we'd all like them to be (blame the media and storytelling for this... they tell stories, not psychology!) therefore they can't be used as source of facts.

I was only minutes into the case too (before knowing a lot of details) when I had pegged Chuck as being mentally unstable and a USELESS witness. It is beyond clear that his head was not in the right place and he didn't do it either. A proper police department and prosecutor could spot this miles away, and I do believe they did... and saw an opportunity to manipulate him through it. There is ZERO chance that they were oblivious to that fact.

Kevin Crane needs to burn in hell or have somebody close to him murdered or his child wrongly convicted. That will be sweet karma. Everything about him is fishy and my gut is telling me there is WAY more to the case than only the wrongly accused. His facial expressions on 48 Hours looked VERY suspicious as well, note the weird eyebrows. He could not control his emotions and it looked very much like "They aren't on to you, play it cool!"

This young man was in the wrong place at the wrong time....to bad so sad they are NEVER NEVER NEVER going to let go of him. That would be admitting they are doing wrong and the Boone County Prosecutors never going to do that.

NO NO NO the principle is the same....very much the same the fact that someone is going away for life is just a side effect of a system (specifically Boone county Missouri that is full of cancer). THE same idiots (I am talking about the butt - holes in the DA) that ran the show on this young man have a huge say in Family Court. And the effects are no less damaging then when it comes to ruining someones life.

It seems that the prosecution wanted to 'wrap this up." It also seems that they and the jury had their minds made up. How can you put someone in prison with NO physical evidence. I feel that Ryan is innocent and Chuck is a very troubled young man.  Unfortunately "putting this behind them", put the wrong person "behind bars."

Juries are made up of people that are not smart enough to figure out how to get out of Jury Duty. You don't need physical evidence to convict someone!! Don't you watch the news? Have you ever been to family court in Boone County? Evidence is not required in our courts this guy is going to be locked up for a long long time...

saw thism on discovery channel and i was very interested in this. i just have a couple of questions...

first, why in the hell would that guy chuck ferguson just randomly start telling people he was involved? i dont understand why he wants to go to prison. i just dont get why he was trYing so hard to get him and ryan to go to jail

also, if they weren't involved at all then who was it? i havent heard anything about any other suspects.

Hopefully Ryan ferguson will be let out early

this case was a travesty people are so dumb RYAN DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! and the fact that he can be convicted and his whole life RUINED because of heresay with virtually no physical evidence is a travesty! This video shows Prosecutor Crane hid veidence from the jury that would show Ryan was not present at the crime scene.

Shawna Ornt testified the person she saw was not Ryan of Chuck. She testifies that she told Prosecutor Crane this fact prior to the trial. Prosecutor Crane violated the law by not tell Ryan's Defense Team or the court of Shawna's pre trial statements.

Take a moment and watch the video testimony. The prosecutor did not tell the truth.

I saw this on 48 hours or dateline, and I can tell you that the janitor that was there has a criminal history..and is a shady character. I'm 100% convinced the janitor did it, maybe with Chuck Erickson. But Ryan wasn't even there.

Yes, Kevin Crane is now a judge.

In July he took the witness stand like anyone else and was questioned as to his role in the Brady Violation which was about Shawna Ornt's testimony.

Crane testified Shawna Ornt did not tell him that the person was Ryan or Chuck.

Shawna Ornt strongly testified she told Prosecutor Crane three times prior to the trial that the person she saw was not Ryan or Chuck.

Who can you believe?

Shawna Ornt had no reason to lie!!!

Shawna Ornt did say anything about her like or dislike for the prosecutor now a judge. She testified she told the prosecutor who now is a judge that they met three times prior to the trial. Each time she told him the person she saw and talked to her was not Ryan or Chuck.

The prosecutor/Judge failed to follow the law and pass her statements to Ryan's Defense Team. This is a Brady Violation.

The Prosecutor/Judge was summons to Ryan's July Hearing to explain his actions.

Do you think Dallas Mallory, Mike Schook, Christine Varner, Alica Shelton, and the dozens of other witness that testified during Ryan's July Hearing all don't like strong men.

Crane at 5 foot 2 may have the short man complex that does not make him strong. He is just a prosecutor that has been caught telling lies.

So are you saying Shawna Ornt does not like Strong Men and that is why she testified the person she saw was not Ryan or Chuck.

The jury did not hear from the key witnesses such as Shawna Ornt the eye witness, Dallas Mallory the person Chuck testified he saw and spoke to 5 seconds after the murder. Dallas testifed in July for the first time he did not see or talk with Chuck or Ryan. Shawna testified in July the person she saw was not Ryan or Chuck

The jury never hear these witnesses.

BTW all the appeals up to July 2008 are only testimony that took place in Ryan's 2005 Trial.

No other information could be presented that is why Ryan lost his appeals

July 2008 was the first time we were allowed to present new witnesses and evidence.

Bouncer Mike Schook and Dallas Mallory for the first time and others.

Shawna Ornt testified for the first time as to who she saw in the parking lot. The prosecutor covered up Shawna's eye witness statement.

This is a Brady Violation!

@tonyzerr You seem pretty dead set that the 'guilty' (not confused or sick) kid and the 'rich' kid did this horrific crime. Show me the evidence. Also, if Ryan is rich, why would he need to rob someone for money? That doesn't make much sense. I believe you are insensitive and obviously blind if you can not see that they are both obviously innocent, and now (2 years after your comment) the 'guilty' kid admits that he committed perjury and took years of Ryan's life. Open your eyes, NO EVIDENCE!

This is a travesty of justice! I hope Ryan will be able to sue after he's released. Hopefully it will in some small way compensate him for the injustice and help him get on with his life. Good luck Ryan! I'm praying for you!

NAGGERNUTZ YOU POSE A GOOD QUESTION.

The defense team has an duty no to ask question which could harm their client. If the defense team does not know her answer they can not ask. The prosecution knew Shawna's answer she told them three seperate times. The prosecutor chose not to ask. Shawna answer would have harmed the case Ryan.

Prosecutor was not looking for justice he was looking for a win a any cost. Now the prosecutor must a Brady Violation charge

OK, now I understand. The defense team didn't know that she had told the prosecution that the two guys she saw weren't Ryan and Chuck, because the prosecution didn't release that in pre-trial discovery. Still, I think I would have asked on cross, then attempted to tear her testimony apart if she answered in any other way. Had they asked, it would have been a bomb shell. I would have attempted to make her unsure of who she saw, if she had answered in any other way. Hind sight is 20/20.

Another thing... she testified as if she was upset that the prosecution didn't believe her when she told them that the two men weren't Ryan and Chuck. I would have made it a point to contact Ryan's defense team to make them aware. Or am I wrong again? I'm not an attorney, but I do find the law interesting.

There are two differant things going on here.

First there is the trial inwhich no one asked her who she saw in the parking lot.

Prior to the trial the prosecutor had asked and he did not like her answer.  That is why he did not ask her during trial.

What you saw on YouTube was Shawna's testimony in Ryan's Hearing three years after Ryan's trial. Since the trial we have discover new witnesses and evidence that were not present during the trial.

Shawna was very up. But is speaking out now!

This video clearly shows Shawna Ornt did not see Ryan Ferguson or Charles Erickson in the parking lot that Halloween Night 2001.

This proves Charles Erickson could not have occured as he testified in Ryan's trial.
