I saw them at Hammersmith in 75 and remember the backdrop of the tree still living even after a nuclear war.It had survived all of mans wrongs and wars.I loved Hawkwind back then.
Great song and still wish I could see the original slide show animation of the tree with the city growing up around it where it almost dies off, but in the end the city fades away and the tree survives... it really made the song that much more special back in 1974 when I saw the concert. And still a great song...........
I wish I could find a video with the animation they ran behind the band back in 74 when I saw them, It started out with a small tree that is eventully over run by a city as it grows, but in the end the city falls and the tree is left standing. It was very cool and really added a lot to the song and the show...... I emailed with someone on myspace about it a few years ago that had been with the band......
carefull with that axe eugene, with a touch of echoes thrown in, its fcukin great, now all i got to do is coppy the file to explorer so i can download it, (aol wont let my)
yeah, but i have not heard him. i think on either the site for mooch or cyndee lee rule is an outake of a cover of "hall of the mountain grill" that is awesome! cyndee was inspired by simon house but uses a viper vixen...
Absolutely stunning piece of music from Mr Brock and co ..... timeless.

I wouldn't say it was lost, it just wasn't put to dvd, which is strange & annoying.
It can still be found on vhs video versions of the recording.

Before he joined Hawkwind, Simon House (here on violin) was with my fave ever band - High Tide - an awesome Rock band!
Anyone ever heard of them??
