Bad call. Happens to all referees. Toughest call in soccer. It's SO much easier when you can hear the touch. Often times in loud stadiums, ARs cannot hear the sound of the kick, so they must watch both the kick and the second to last defender, which is nearly impossible, unless you have incredible peripheral vision.
